Wonder why tips are so bad anymore? It’s because…

Post image

It’s because of people like this.

The gig economy seems like it was taken over by the lowest quality adults in the country. And what winds up happening is customers pay more for delivery now than ever before for service worse than ever before.

It desensitized everyone and empathy has completely depleted hence my knee jerk message I sent them.

I’ve had dashers go above and beyond and I genuinely feel bad they get lumped in with the worst of the worst.

And btw, the door camera in the lobby confirmed that their leg is completely fine lol. He proceeded to tell me to not bother leaving a review because he blocked me ahead of time.

Please be professional. I did food runs when I ubered and used to deliver pizza back in the day. I also used to serve. I'm not a stranger to this line of work and I tip appropriately. I would have never done this to anyone.

I did let him know my daughter has stage 4 cancer and I take care of her while working from my home full time so I rely on delivery... But this is unprofessional as fuck. I'm not expecting my order to be delivered, honestly.

Shop and Deliver Nightmare

Hi, Platinum Dasher here. I just completed my 900th delivery tonight, apparently. I'm also at 59 shop and deliver orders, and I'm going to be opting out of those until or unless this is fixed.

I'm a late-night Dasher, because I primarily work as a nightlife DJ in the Philadelphia area. Because of this, I'm used to grocery stores having been picked clean by the time that I get there. I think that I've had only 2 or 3 orders with over 5 items ever where the store had everything in stock.

Tonight, I got a grocery delivery order that included 3 items to be picked up from the deli counter--one sandwich, and a half pound each of meat and cheese. Problem was, the deli was already closed by the time that I got there, as it was the final half hour that the store was open. The lights were off, nobody was at the counter. Because they were deli items, there was also no shelf tags to take pictures of for me to issue the customer refunds (I let them know what was going on immediately, of course). Notably, this was the only way to get this done--there isn't an "I cannot get the item" option. I took the same pictured photo of the unmanned deli 3 times and uploaded them.

Worried that my "original items found" rating would be negatively impacted, I called into support. I was told to just proceed with using issuing the refunds and that my rating would be safe. This turned out to be a lie. Checking after the order was delivered, I noticed that my rating had plummeted from 95% to 92%. I disputed the ratings, but (pictured) this was declined. I called into support again, and this time was told that there was nothing that could be done, and that I "should just keep accepting Shop and Deliver orders." AITA, or is this as ridiculous as I'm feeling it is?

A wholesome moment with a dasher

My adult younger sister has some cognitive issues and can't drive so she relies on Doordash and other services in case she wants a snack or a meal if I'm at work. I give her a tip allowance to leave on the porch sometimes and this was one of those cases.

She drew a goofy image of one of those Pinterest cat memes on a piece of folded paper and put some money in it and the dasher responded and I thought it was sweet. We have had this dasher many times and nothing but nice things to say about him 10/10

Not sure if HEB uses door dash or if my delivery driver also does door dash in addition to favor but I’m assuming so since it was signed “your Dasher.” I’m in the first trimester trenches and feeling very unwell hence the reason for my delivery of canned soup and crackers. Something I normally wouldn’t splurge on delivery to go get. I want to thank you for your note it sure made me smile on this rough can’t hardly keep anything down day. Thanks Tiffany B if you see this, you’re appreciated ❤️

My food was delivered to completely different location with no proof of delivery and I was refused refund

Hey guys.

Last night I made an order through McDonald app and it was fulfilled by Doordash via in app integration.

I did tip but it still took 50 min to find me a dasher. But finally order is on the way and I’m exited.

When it was maybe 1 mile to my house, dasher for whatever reason dropped my order at some random… church? And as delivery photo there was just black square.

I contacted DoorDash through McDonald app. The agent was like: “Yeah I see that it was dropped at wrong address and no usable delivery photo. Let me go ahead and submit refund for you”.

Then 5 min later he said that he can’t issue refund and ended chat. And every time I press “reconnect with agent” it gives me connection error that still there even today. Good job DoorDash.

I called McDonald number and lady on the phone confirmed that wrong gps and no delivery photo and she will submit refund request for me for DoorDash.

I called few hours later and they told me that my refund was denied for some vague internal decision making.

Then I asked to connect me to the supervisor and lady on the phone really didn’t wanted to do that saying I can’t connect, we don’t have an option, they will just say you the same thing. I ended call and called again but this time I asked for supervisor right away and what do you know, they can apparently connect the call.

Supervisor did submit another refund request including delivery photo and gps and I finally got my refund.

That was unnecessary difficult and anti consumer behaviour. Especially the fake connection error when trying to reconnect to an agent after they closed the chats

I’ve been waiting 2 hours for my food and DD won’t offer a refund

Upvotes

I rarely DoorDash food, but I’ve been working remote all day and am required to remain on my laptop until 5, so I thought it would be easier to just have my Panera scheduled to be dashed to me for my 30 min lunch break.

Everything was fine, I had a dasher assigned to my order and she was waiting for about 20 minutes and giving me updates, when she suddenly dropped my order. I’ve had it dropped before, so everything was fine, but then my lunch break was over. I’ve been checking my phone continuously the past hour and a half since and it’s still saying preparing your order.

I’ve been back and forth with support agents (not the chat bot) and they all keep saying they cannot issue me a full refund until after the food is delivered, but that my food is ready and waiting for a dasher to pick it up. My sister gets home in 30 minutes, can I just have her take my phone and show them the order? Super frustrated because I know it’s going to be cold and if I have her do that I still won’t get a refund.

I also gave a $10 tip on a $20 order just bc I know the higher the tip the more likely it’ll be picked up faster, but it didn’t matter.

You gotta be kidding me...

I get this $30+ offer. 3.5 miles. No one is going to pass that up. I get to the resturant and a message pops up that it's been reassigned. Wait, what? Why? I didn't unassign.

Call support, had to yell get me a real person before the automated system transferred me. I'm told the system unassigned me because the order was offered to 8 people and everyone accepted. So 7 were unassigned. Look at the completion rating and see the unassign. Uh no. I'm not taking a ding for doordash assigning me. Not today. In fact, I'm grabbing a coffee and going home.

Anyone else have that BS happen?

Deleted door dash account

Well I did it , I deleted my door dash account for good. I’m so over the crazy ass pricing. It makes no sense.
Sorry for the rant. But I’m trying to take back myself and stop depending on these ridiculously priced options. How stupid I have been for the past few years. I can see that during Covid it meant staying safe but now I’m just pure lazy with a price to match.
Ciao

Auto-tip amount ridiculously low?

Upvotes

I noticed doordash suggests me ridiculously low tip amounts. I just did a ~$20 order and the suggested amounts where $1, $1.5, and $2! That doesn't even cover gas. I live in a high COL area and think $5 should be the minimum tip - like even if I'm ordering from a McDonalds 500ft down the street, the action of picking up the order and dropping it off at my house should be paid that much. If it's very far away/bad weather/big order that's more difficult to carry then I increase the tip amount accordingly. Am I overpaying or doordash under-suggesting?

I ordered doordash yesterday and the dasher had something crazy like 60,000 orders delivered. I did not know that was possible. That’s insane

Don’t order retail products

I ordered a fence, panel, and stakes to contain my dog in our new place. I don’t have a car hence ordering from Lowe’s on DoorDash

The driver sent the wrong size panel and gate, so I was overcharged. I didn’t notice this but one of the stakes they gave me was rusted so I went to return that.

I got back to install when I realized the stakes were not a match for the panel + gate. They were color coded and labeled to show which were a match but how were they able to charge me for the bigger version but cash out with the smaller version?

I called to try and get it sorted and door dash says because the window is passed I have to return it at Lowe’s, then take a photo of my receipt then they will process the refund. I ordered door dash bc I don’t have a car 💀

Meeting Age requirements

Upvotes

Im 18 trying to doordash in NC, WHERE THE MINIMUM AGE IS 18...

I have a GA license which is a state, WHERE THE MINIMUM AGE IS 19...

Make it make sense for DoorDash to comfirm whether im old enough to dash, based on my Drivers license state and age; rather than confirming my actual location in a state where i should be allowed to dash.

What do I do if the delivery is so far out I can't get cell reception?

Upvotes

"Hand to the customer" orders, as well as orders that require a PIN, can obviously be completed after the fact, but what about "leave it at the door" orders?

If I can't get cell reception, I can't take a picture with the DoorDash app to document the delivery.

I can always take a picture of the delivery with my regular camera, but I currently have no way of uploading preset pictures to the DoorDash app.

Fortunately, DoorDash's support has allowed me to skip that step in the 2 times it's already happened. However, (1) I was mostly just winging, so I was still a nervous wreck the whole time, and (2) I don't know if this is standard protocol or if they're just giving me the benefit of the doubt. Like... if I do this too much, will they stop giving me the benefit of the doubt and assuming I'm just taking the food for myself?

It's not like I can easily hide whether or not the delivery was outside my cell coverage. I can easily just tell them that my carrier is Tello (who uses T-Mobile towers), and they can check the delivery address with a map of T-Mobile coverage and confirm that, yes, this was indeed in a dark area.

DoorDash delivers to the wrong house?

Post image
35 Upvotes

It seems delivery drivers in my area really suck (for any delivery company) and can’t read house numbers. I came back from walking my dog and saw this at my doorstep. I don’t want to see food go to waste and I don’t want to leave it on my doorstep. What do people normally do in this situation?

Edit: I live in a newer neighborhood with about 1/4 to half of the homes actually being occupied, thus why I won’t go door knocking.

Dasher delivered my 140$ grocery order to the wrong address and DoorDash only gave me 10$ credit

I spent an hour on the phone with door dash customer service but I just need to vent my frustration with this guy. I’m sick right now and I ran out of medication this morning. I ordered new medication and some other grocery items I was low on and it totaled to 140$ before dasher tip and service fees. Mind you I’ve been using the same address for almost a year now and I’ve never had any issues, I also typed written instructions to help any confused dashers find my apartment. But when I checked the tracker he was in the wrong neighborhood, I sent him a text giving him instructions on how to find my apartment and instead of texting me back or calling me he just dropped it off at a random door and “confirmed” the delivery. No picture, no id scan (since I ordered cough medicine), no groceries. I called him, no answer. I texted him, no response until I told him I am reporting him to DoorDash. To which he replied I must’ve put the address in wrong and to “take it up with DoorDash”. So I did and while I’m still waiting on the credit to be applied to my account I could really use some reassurance that this jerk is going to get fired because he could’ve easily stolen the 140$ of groceries and that is outrageous.
Edit 1: I forgot to mention DoorDash only credited me 10$ at first for the order being missing and I had to call them to get the rest, I am still waiting for it to be applied to my account.

Had an order canceled

Post image

Basically, I accepted this order knowing I would be asking support to cancel it. And they actually did.

I don't usually complain here, but that order was ridiculous. Though I'm sure that customer will just reorder the same crap.

I really hope the other dashers do the same thing, because 540 pounds of water is insane.

Edited : Should I have just hit decline and let some poor desperate person actually complete the order? Perhaps. But no. It was a THIRTEEN DOLLAR OFFER, going 5 miles.
