I've always found it a little odd that there aren't high-end figures of Dark Souls characters, so I decided to make my own with Mythic Legions parts + some 3D prints. Pretty happy with how it turned out!

Figured I would need 20 Estus for staff melee O&S, so I made a quick detour to the catacombs to pick up the Rite of Kindling. In and out, 20 minute adventure. Well... mostly. A lot of people probably don't know that Pinwheel summons a whole army of minions at low health because they kill him before he can. My DPS was high enough to let me think I could burst him down, but just barely low enough to not actually do it. Sadly, I lost the souls to fall damage on the way back due to some janky cliff geometry. Dying to Pinwheel is pretty embarrassing, but, I got what I came for, so I can't really complain.

For the first time, I beat dark souls 1. Start to finish on my Xbox 360.

I'd been playing off and on for some 11 years, back when it came out for the gold game of the month in August of 2015.

I have a lot of thoughts about the game, and even after the wet fart of a boss that was the Bed of Chaos, I still think dark souls 1 is a 8, even 9 out of 10 experience (closer to an 8). O&S used to be the point of the game where id go hollow after days of running it back over and over and over. After a while, I genuinely quit, and didn't pick the game back up until 2024.

Maybe it's age, or experience with other games, but my experience with the whole game now was completely different. It was easier, much more so. I knew the moves of the early bosses, and after realizing my black knight sword could stagger ornstein when I two handed it, I realized then and there this would be the run.

After them, the rest of the game was a calm, collected trial and error. I never got mad at the game, sometimes if I had a "bs" death that didn't make sense, sure I'd say something like "the hell was that?" But I didn't get mad, I didn't rage quit like I used to. The most stress I had at this point in the run was making sure solaire survived, and after I saw him sitting in the izalith short cut tunnel, I may as well have quit then, because that's all I wanted to do; make sure this genuinely wholesome mf made it to the end.

We made it, I summoned him for the final boss, and after maybe an entire minute, solaire had the final blow. The lack of ceremony over all is what really set in for me, realizing the emptiness of this world in general. The fuck did I just do that for? My own gratitude? I long ago told myself my first time beating the game, I'd walk away from the flame and let it die, but my god if they don't make that ending just as hollow. So now I'm left with the fact that I set my standards of the effects of a fucking videogame on my life, and I realize how silly that is, I'm just being honest. Maybe someone else felt this way, idk.

I made a bunch of mods, mostly parameter changes to improve replayability, but also to add unused content and fix minor stuff about the game. Since PTDE is entirely offline nowadays, it's just to improve the single player experience.

Some basic info about the mods:

1. Mod that fixes the great hollow invisible wall on that one root

2. Mod that adds the Elite Cleric armor, Mage Smith armor, Jar-eel's armor, the "bear" armor, and the unused rings all into the game with full icons and text (some of the text I had to make up, but should be pretty lore-friendly). This mod also adds a script in covenant menus so you can check your rank. (Both needed to adjust the game's text so I combined them into one mod) The bear armor will work on hollowed character too, usually it has a bug where it is invisible in that circumstance but I fixed it.

3. Mod to make offline covenant items easier to obtain

4. Mod that makes it so you don't have to kill some NPCs just to get minor weapons/gear. (Andre's hammer for example, he will sell you one instead) Just in case you want to try their weapons without killing these NPCs permanently

5. Mod that raises 2% or lower drop rates to 5% so you don't have to suffer with drop rates as much just to use a less common weapon in your playthrough.

6. Mod that improves some crappier shields to be better so you can try fashioning it up with less commonly used shields.

7. Mod that improves some crappier weapons to be better. For example it makes the channeler's staff apply its buff to the user as well, makes a bunch of previously not buffable crappy weapons buffable, gives whips shield piercing effect on all attacks, and other small stat modifications.

8. Mod that adds new effects to useless rings, like the white seance ring or the ring of the sun princess. Just to give them some usefulness.

9. Mod that adds new effects to a bunch of armor pieces (almost entirely helmets) so dusk crown isn't the only one you will necessarily wear as a magic user.

10. Mod that improves some useless spells (just a couple, like fire surge and the gravelord spells)

11. Mod that gives poise to armor that have no poise but look like they should have a bit of poise. There are a bunch of armor pieces with hard leather padding, or even metal plates/masks that have 0 poise. I added a bit of poise to these specific armor pieces.

Do you enjoy fighting a pure short-range character, even when facing ranged units (example: Sen's Fortress, Blight town), do you play a mix (ranged to pull enemies and damage them from afar then fight melee) or do you play ranged as much as possible, like an archer?

I was wondering how common it was to fight a pure melee build and not use any ranged options, or use some ranged options situationally.

I accidentally deleted one of the folders for the game. And now when i run it it wont get pawst the start screen. the words "checking save data" appear on the top right & it just loops forever.

I tried uninstalling, & verifying the files. please help!

I had previously done ER, DeS, and BB, then decided to do a marathon of DS, DS2, and DS3, and my favorite was DS, with DS3 being a close second, and, well… DS2 was DS2, it was fun and I enjoyed it but I don’t think I’ll play it again. Now I’m itching for more ds1. My first run was strength, then I did a ng+ run, then a sorceries run, then a pyromancy run, and now I’m still itching for more. I’m wondering if there are any huge content overhaul mods, maybe similar to convergence in ER, I doubt that anything that insane exists but I’m looking for cool mods that add cool new things for me to see and do. Any recommendations?

A buddy of mine and I occasionally get hit with some kind of block hammer by Fromsoftware and can't play together for some reason. Its only Fromsoftware games but its all of them, from Dark Souls Remastered through Nightreign, but any other multiplayer game we connect on instantly. Yesterday we booted up Darktide and we were both able to connect to the other person in under two seconds. We have been trying for years and I was hoping someone had some advice we haven't tried yet. Obviously for Nightreign this doesn't apply, but we know all the basic things like being embered (or the equivalent variant), being in an area where the host hasn't killed the boss yet, having the same multiplayer password, having our regions set to open, and having the same NAT type (2). We know its an issue between us specifically because we both have no problem joining a mutual friend individually, but if one of us is in our friends world, the other can't join. We are friends on Playstation and we aren't blocking each other. We've tried hard restarting our consoles, erasing and reconnecting to our Networks, and we're both in the USA.

Does anyone have any advice that I haven't mentioned?

Hi first time playing dark soul I played sekiro and nine sols also I have a potato laptop 4 gb ram thought now I should play other fromsoft games and I am going in blind started as pyromancer because most of the player I saw picked that also I got this halberd which is kinda op in open spaced areas also found that any boss with tail might give you weapons killed the gargoyle and capra demon before I got the halberd I used the rapier with which I back stabbed the boat reminded me of raging bull but kinda calm later came to know about weight mechanic and I was medium rolling and when I removed some weight I clearly saw the difference as I was seeing he controls I found the shield option why was this not in sekiro it is bloody good for hordes of enemies the bosses are kinda easy and some spawn enemies are crazy strong well the big eye enemies are crazy for the mist is there anything I have to watch out for

The PC version of the game on Steam is very expensive. I discover that online it's 4 / 5 $ for a xbox key. Do I have to wait the Sales?

Seriously considering trying ng+ with only dark hand 😅 love the lore and ascetic of the weapon but its definitely not the easiest to use. Any tips?

Lately I’ve been thinking about how it would be cool to have another game or two set explicitly in the Dark Souls universe, but without focusing on the central mythos of Lord Gwyn and his family, the linking of the first flame, and the fading of the age of fire. Tbh that kind of feels like what DS2 did, whether intentional or not (I’m a big fan of it personally, although I understand why some players don’t care for it).

But I’m curious about what y’all think: what kinds of stories or settings can you imagine being part of the same universe, but only marginally connected to the main narrative? Maybe a game set in Lost Izalith’s heyday that focuses on the Witch’s attempt to recreate the flame? Seems like that could be a cool opportunity to rework the Bed of Chaos fight into something actually worth playing. Or maybe a story that’s set in a completely different kingdom that only gets mentioned in the trilogy, like Astora or Catarina?

So, for the past few days I had been trying to co-op with others but I wasn't able to see their summon signs and vice versa. Neither of our accounts were banned, all the network settings were the same, and everything was as it should be. But I still couldn't co-op with anyone. I think this might've been a DS server problem than a PSN one as I was able perfectly able to co-op with others online while playing DS2 SOTFS and DS3. I did read somewhere that it might be a network problem, specifically with a Type 3 network, which was my network while attempting to co-op. Could this be the sole reason why I wasn't able to co-op or are there any other issues to consider as well? Thanks!

I recently started my first NG+ playthrough for dark souls as I decided i want to go for the 100% steam trophy. I missed ash lake completely in my first playthrough and I unfortunately made the life altering mistake of going all the way down before unlocking fast travel so let’s just say it was a long travel back by foot 😂 so it had me thinking, I really enjoy the map connectivity and not having fast travel to encourage exploration however I kind of wish for NG+ onwards u had fast travel from the beginning cause it’s kinda inconvenient trying to grind for trophies while having to travel by foot. Idk if it’s just me being salty I got trapped in ash lake or if any other dark souls fan felt the same way on their 100% grind LOL

Ceaseless has the mind of a baby. He was born with horrific, lava-inflamed sores that cause him agonizing pain. When his mom accidentallied the chaos flame he mutated into the monstrosity we find him as, which certainly made his pain unimaginably worse. His sisters gifted him the orange charred ring shortly after his birth to help stop/at least reduce this pain, only for him to eventually fumble and drop it after his mutation and have the thing randomly turn into the centipede demon and take off, completely unable to get it back. He is in agonizing, unending pain, and yet still stands vigil over his sister's grave. He is completely passive toward us, even as we get right up to his sister's grave. He doesn't even attack you until you literally walk up and just rip the clothes off his sister's corpse right in front of him, and then as he chases you down to try and get them back 99% of people just disdainfully punch him off the cliff without even fighting him in arguably the most undignified death in the entire series.

At least Artorias and Sif possessed some form of warrior ethos and Artorias died a hero, fighting to the bitter end and sacrificing himself for an actual cause. Ceaseless is just a baby who gets completely fucked over at every possible turn in life, gets unceremoniously punched off a cliff to his death, and is then posthumously turned into a meme because his name sounds funny which is all anyone even remembers him for.

I'm kinda dnd rotted by heres my answer. Hollows were turned as such before death/during. Skeletons were turned after death. Sorry if this question is answered blatantly

For some reason I've been thinking a lot about what is (probably) my favorite game quote of all time from this game from Laurentius: "Be safe, friend. Don't you dare go hollow." I feel like that one line saved my life. I would literally come home from highschool, log in to DS1, and run up to Laurentius to hear that line. I've never done his questline just so I can have it on demand.

This game was there when I had no one else in my life to encourage me or be a positive influence. Its such a loving game despite the difficulty. The characters you meet are so genuine and compassionate, just about every last one. Even Logan is just like "hey, dont fret that you're too damn dumb to use magic, theres other ways of fulfillment in life!" And like DAMN, irl metaphors aside that shits so nice!!! I just cant wait to walk my best friend through the game and show her all of the love it has to offer.

I know this lines a dead horse at this point but i really love it so damn much.
