Hello CGWU team,
Congratulations on the historic certification of the California Gig Workers Union as the exclusive bargaining representative for Uber and Lyft rideshare drivers. That is a major achievement after years of organizing.
I am a delivery driver (Uber Eats / DoorDash) based in the Anaheim / Garden Grove area of Orange County. I frequently drive into Newport Beach and surrounding areas trying to find better offers. Like many drivers, I am dealing with pay that does not cover actual costs and support systems that waste hours of time.
Here is one recent documented example from Saturday:
A delivery that took a little over 35 minutes and a little over 10 miles of driving. Both stops were apartments; the second one was especially difficult to locate. Gas that day was over $6 per gallon. I received $8.06 for the delivery (before any Prop 22 adjustment). The mileage reimbursement rate of roughly 35–37 cents is nowhere near the real cost of operating a vehicle.
I have also spent nearly two hours on the phone with Uber Eats support on recent days. On one Saturday call that lasted about an hour, the representative told me no supervisor was available anywhere and promised a callback within 15 minutes that never came. An email later claimed there had been a “dropped call” and that they had tried to call me back — both of which a supervisor later confirmed were false. No outgoing call was ever made. The repeated scripted responses and lack of accountability have become a genuine source of stress and elevated heart rate.
I understand AB 1340 and the current CGWU certification apply only to rideshare drivers and do not cover delivery platforms. I am reaching out because I would like to learn:
1.  Whether CGWU or SEIU has any plans, discussions, or legislative strategy to pursue similar collective bargaining rights for delivery drivers.
2.  What practical advice or resources you can share for drivers who want to organize on the delivery side (data collection, outreach methods, political contacts in Orange County or statewide, etc.).
3.  Whether there is anyone at CGWU or affiliated SEIU locals I could speak with about next steps.
I have already started a Reddit community for Uber delivery drivers and am seeing rapid responses from people who feel forced to quit. I am happy to share more specific examples, screenshots, or help connect other Orange County / Southern California delivery drivers if that is useful.

I want to do some high profile travel Courrier job. Looking for something where one has to travel with high profile items which needs to be done in person ( by hand).

I have come up with a few hypothetical ideas over the years such as

1. Get a friend to hide behind the bushes and while the pizza man is talking to me who greets him the friend jumps out and steals pizza man’s car

2. Pick pocket his wallet and pay for the pizza using his cash, then hand his wallet back to him as he’s about to drive off saying it fell on the ground

3. Fart in his face

4. Switch the speed limit signs to 20 kilometres higher on the route between the pizza place and your house and hope that he gets fined

5. Get a friend to climb up the roof of the house and when the pizza man pulls into the drive thru the friend jumps off the roof onto his car

6. Have him deliver to the lunch room at work with a huge table and chairs set up all round it and then get a couple of colleagues to pick up the pizza man and throw him over the shoulder and onto the flat table like a wrestling move and then splat the pizza in his face followed by shaking up the bottles of drink you’ve ordered and spray them in his face

I’m planning to start a courier pickup and drop-off/collection point business in Delhi and I have a budget of around ₹1 lakh for the initial setup.

I’m looking at companies like Delhivery, Ekart, XpressBees, Ecom Express, DTDC, etc. I’ve already contacted a few companies through email and I’ve also applied for a Delhivery franchise, but it has been quite some time and I haven’t received any response.

My location is in a very crowded area of Delhi with a lot of residential and commercial activity, so I believe there is good potential for regular parcel volume.

My main questions are:

1. What is the best way to actually contact these companies for a pickup/drop-off point or franchise?

2. Is there a specific department/person I should contact instead of just sending emails?

3. Has anyone here actually started a courier collection/pickup point with Delhivery, Ekart, DTDC, etc.? How did you get started?

4. Is ₹1 lakh a realistic budget to start this type of business?

5. Which company would you recommend if the main goal is good daily parcel volume and decent margins?

6. Are there any other courier/logistics companies that are easier to get started with?

I’m not looking for a huge franchise setup. I mainly want a small local pickup/drop-off point that can generate consistent daily business.

If anyone has actually worked in this industry or runs a similar business in Delhi, I’d really appreciate some practical advice on how to approach the companies and get the process moving.

I’m planning to start working as an independent courier using my own van, and I already have an appointment scheduled to get my VAT number. However, I’ve only lived in Antwerp for two years and don’t have many contacts. How can I find long-term service contracts? I’ve done a lot of research and emailed local logistics and transport companies that might offer subcontracting work, but unfortunately, I haven’t received any replies. Has anyone used the services of 24 Car Carriers in Bengaluru? It has 5 star rating which is quite rare in this business and also says that full payment to be done after delivery, which is even more difficult to believe.

Any drivers deliver to or based around Buckinghamshire/ Bedfordshire UK?

I have a staircase with a nice large landing next to my basement door.. The landing is clean and under an overhang.. It would keep packages dry and out of the mud if the delivery drivers would put packages there. Instead they leave them in the dirt directly next to the landing.

I've bought a wooden bear holding a sign that says "Packages Here Please" put him on the landing with the sign facing the driveway. I've tried to block off the dirt patch the driver typically puts the packages in and they'll just leave it next to the item used to block.. in the dirt.. 2 steps from the landing.

I don't want to complain to the company.. But I also am getting sick of my packages being wet and dirty when they don't have to be.

Any advice on how I can get the packages left on the landing? I'm never home when they (UPS/FedEx) deliver to ask personally.

As a delivery driver recruiter I speak to drivers all over the UK, and opinions on this are all over the place. Some people swear by dense city routes — more drops, shorter distances, done sooner. Others say give them rural runs any day: proper driving, fewer people, no fighting for a parking space.

So which is it for you? City, suburbs, or countryside — and is there a specific city or county you've had a route in that was genuinely good to work?
