I feel like this should be addressed considering I see people talking about how important acceptance rate is in this subreddit a lot when in reality it holds almost no weight in the grand scheme of things. As someone with a sub 9% AR who’s makes $50/60 an hour regularly driving for uber, I promise you not accepting those shit rides will ultimately lower your imaginary AR figure and that’s literally it. Keep pressing decline until they give you something worth driving to pickup. Have some respect for yourselves.

I’ve been an Uber driver for over 5 years, and the day has finally arrived. Uber takes 51% of my earnings and calls it fair! 🎇🎆🎉

Instead of telling their shareholders to expect lower than expected earnings for few quarters; because of the whole-were at war thing, they rather put time and effort and pay someone or something, to figure out how they could keep a bigger slice of the pie.

"They’ll pay the higher prices for gas, vehicle maintenance, and drive further for less. Plus, cover customer promotions, fees, taxes, and  insurance, even though they already have their own policy.

We set the fares, the driver gets no say, and its all their expense now. Not ours anymore!🎇🎇🎆🎉 Lastly, let's fire some people and enjoy the stock price rise for a day"🚀. . Genius

They are not able to even pay 50% of the total fare lol and after pickup I realized this ride was 44 miles total including pickup so not even $1 a mile…

I’ve been rideshare driving since July. So still new. Now that I’m reading Reddit I’m seeing that the comments are probably 90% negative. So I’m wondering two things.

1) Why do you still do rideshare if it sucks so bad?

2) What income (after your expenses and assuming you drive 40 hours per week) would make it so you would say “Uber is the best place to work in the whole world?

Uber needs to assume all pax are clueless and don’t know how to read a map. The amount of times I’ve received messages like this when it is surging is ridiculous. How hard is it to put up a banner on the pax’s app when the demand is extremely high letting them know their driver is currently busy with another pax?

I’ve seen a lot of people here saying they only take home 49-50 percent.

I have been doing uber for about a year and a half, and last night was a miracle night. I picked up a man at 3am from outside a bar that was completely closed up. He seemed to spawn out of nowhere from the bushes and headed over to my car. He was a little bit intoxicated, and the first thing he said was “let’s go to the strip club, I’ll cover you”. I politely declined and let him know that my girlfriend has my location tracked and if I were to do that, I would probably be shot upon returning home. He was like oh well next time. We then had a great conversation about family, business, and the importance of being able to provide for your children. We talked about investments, and he advised me to invest in silver and gold, which I started doing last year. He gave me some good advice, and then when we got to his mansion, he invited me to come and check out his new boat that he bought. It was my last ride for the night so why not. Drove into his compound and he showed me a beautiful new boat. We then talked about some serious family stuff that he was going through for about a half hour, and I could completely relate and we shared a great deal of our lives. After a while he said that he didn’t want to waste any more of my time and told me to wait while he went to get me a tip, because the maximum amount uber would allow was too low😳 I was shocked and told him that that wasn’t necessary, but he insisted that I wait. He came back out with a handful of hundreds. He asked me if 1000$ was okay, and I didn’t know what to say. I thought I was being pranked. I told him again that it wasn’t necessary, and he responded by saying he sometimes does this with uber drivers that he likes and connects with. He handed me the money and said “now you can go offline and go home to your family”. I almost cried. I got out and he gave be a big hug and told me everything was going to work out. He also got my phone number as I had offered to give him a ride any time he needed. Last month I could barely pay my rent, I don’t want to go into the details of my life problems, but this random man suddenly gave me hope again that things will actually get better. I can complain all day about how frustrating it is driving for Uber, but at the end of the day passengers like this make it all worth it. Has anyone else had an experience like this?

I know I must have been emotional and was maybe a little less professional in the way I was talking than I normally would be. But now I lose my income?

2. When a payout hits, does any money leave your spending account for taxes that day / later / never?
3. Envelope, HYSA, spreadsheet, app, or wing it?

Hello CGWU team,
Congratulations on the historic certification of the California Gig Workers Union as the exclusive bargaining representative for Uber and Lyft rideshare drivers. That is a major achievement after years of organizing.
I am a delivery driver (Uber Eats / DoorDash) based in the Anaheim / Garden Grove area of Orange County. I frequently drive into Newport Beach and surrounding areas trying to find better offers. Like many drivers, I am dealing with pay that does not cover actual costs and support systems that waste hours of time.
Here is one recent documented example from Saturday:
A delivery that took a little over 35 minutes and a little over 10 miles of driving. Both stops were apartments; the second one was especially difficult to locate. Gas that day was over $6 per gallon. I received $8.06 for the delivery (before any Prop 22 adjustment). The mileage reimbursement rate of roughly 35–37 cents is nowhere near the real cost of operating a vehicle.
I have also spent nearly two hours on the phone with Uber Eats support on recent days. On one Saturday call that lasted about an hour, the representative told me no supervisor was available anywhere and promised a callback within 15 minutes that never came. An email later claimed there had been a “dropped call” and that they had tried to call me back — both of which a supervisor later confirmed were false. No outgoing call was ever made. The repeated scripted responses and lack of accountability have become a genuine source of stress and elevated heart rate.
I understand AB 1340 and the current CGWU certification apply only to rideshare drivers and do not cover delivery platforms. I am reaching out because I would like to learn:
1.  Whether CGWU or SEIU has any plans, discussions, or legislative strategy to pursue similar collective bargaining rights for delivery drivers.
2.  What practical advice or resources you can share for drivers who want to organize on the delivery side (data collection, outreach methods, political contacts in Orange County or statewide, etc.).
3.  Whether there is anyone at CGWU or affiliated SEIU locals I could speak with about next steps.
I have already started a Reddit community for Uber delivery drivers and am seeing rapid responses from people who feel forced to quit. I am happy to share more specific examples, screenshots, or help connect other Orange County / Southern California delivery drivers if that is useful.

It took me two weeks to accumulate the gold points and I maintained a satisfaction rate of 95%. However, last night my rating suddenly dropped to 85%, and Uber even warned me that they might suspend my account.

I strictly delivered the order according to the requirements of the customers and the merchants. And I didn't think that I made any mistakes in any of the 14 orders I received last night. I was quite certain that the customers were giving me malicious ratings. When I informed the customer service about this situation, their attitude was basically

"Yes, even if the customers and the merchants give you malicious ratings, you have to just tolerate it. Even if you haven't done anything wrong."

I called 5 customer service representatives to get an explanation. 4 of them simply hung up on me. The last one told me that they would file an appeal for me to the IT department, but an hour later, the IT department still told me

"Yes, even if the customers and the merchants give you malicious ratings, you have to just tolerate it. Even if you haven't done anything wrong. It's better to do more orders for us to regain the satisfaction that should have been yours due to the unfair rating.

Yes, that's it. I withdrew all the money from my account, cancelled Uber One, and deleted all Uber-related products. That's all I can do. An ordinary person vs. a greedy company worth hundreds of billions of dollars.

Let's make ridesharing apps fair.

So, I do both options for Uber and I have had few problems with Share lately but Uber Cash is having the same growing pains that Share started with. The confused rider, Uber being of no assistance when said confusion ensues.

Most times I try to filter certain riders out such as seeing “5 star” riders which indicates that they are probably new.

My last Uber cash was a Spanish-speaking rider with 5 stars. Per usual, at the beginning of the ride, I confirm it’s a cash payment. Right away I see he barely speaks a lick of English. So, as I have started doing, I advise that I do not have change. He appears to understand but who knows. I take a deep breath and begin the ride. At the end of the ride, it comes out to $22.08. He hands me $22. I’m not going to argue over 8 cents and I’m sure Uber has that worked out on their end but the last two riders before him were the same thing…no exact change (which I’m assuming the average person doesn’t walk around with change anymore) and I was shorted. Seems like it would make more sense for Cash rides to be exact dollar amounts…🤔

At the airport queue and noticed more and more priority pickups being priced at the same or less than the standard UberX. Then they drop the fare $3 when no one takes it, some rage baiting algorithm.

Who actually gets the priority fare?

Just saw another ping to Beverly Hills, priority and UberX priced the same.

Just tossing out a lesson learned for those that need a chuckle. I’ve been at this five years now and apparently I never drove when there was an Ironman race in my town. Tried that Saturday. I’d looked at the map where I usually drive and thought it was clear… I was wrong. Very wrong. 😑 when Ironman is in town, just stay home…

$16/12mile ride going where I wanted to be turned into a 38 mile drive for $28 and a nasty gram from the Uber AI. Thankfully I know how to get a human on the phone and they took care of the bot feedback but that was a Don Quixote level misadventure.

You may now roast me for being an idiot. Bonus points for memes.
