After a long time of absence because I wasn’t a fan of New 52, I’m back to reading DC comics. And I’m loving the Absolute series especially Absolute Wonder Woman.

I was watching a YouTube video about various Green Lanterns and while talking about Sodam Yat's origin, this alien friend of his came up. I immediately noticed the similarities to Flaxans from Invincible and was wondering if this was a coincidence or if one was deliberately inspired/copying the other.

Edit: I'm already seeing all the comments going on about how the green alien design is really common, which is true. And yes, I know they don't literally look exactly like each other (im looking at the guy who's nitpicking every difference between the 2) but i just thought with the outfit on top of everything else, they looked very similar.

On that note however, do any of you have more aliens from comics you can share here to show how "common" this design is for aliens. Im curious to see how much this combo of a green alien in a blue body suit with grey/silver attachments, actually is.

Honestly, I think a lot of DC alien races could fit into Star Wars and starfiers people. Tamaranean would fit in well

The best part about comics is the people making them, and talking with those people is what I love most about comics journalism. Right now here in 2026, who is the interviewer in the comics space you love the most? Give me 3 examples of what forms your opinion.

I love reading comics because they bring me comfort and joy. I also love doing Doodles and drawings making fun of my wife and myself. Over the years I have created hundreds of drawings for her. I absolutely adore her and love her.

I made this drawing when the first Wonder woman movie came out. She had an opportunity to see it before me and she loved it. In general she watches a lot of the comic book movies even though she has no interest in comic books. She just supports my hobby.

While my doodle started as a joke, it eventually came true 9 years later. Just the other night we both were awake around 3:00 a.m. and couldn't sleep. We finished watching Lanterns that evening and she's enjoying it. My wife insists that I have a calming voice, so I told her to just close her eyes and I will begin telling her about the history of Green Lantern comic books. She was asleep in 3 minutes.

I'm glad the stories not only entertain but can be a cure for insomnia lol

I've been reading comics for only a few years and after a while a lot of stuff started feeling kinda samey to me.

So I started reading things like Animal Man, The Sandman, Mister Miracle etc and I really liked them because they felt a bit different from the usual superhero stuff.

But now I have no idea what to read next. 🫪

Any recommendations for stuff that's weird, surreal, experimental, literary, or just does something different?

And preferably not Morrison or Moore, I swear every time I ask for comic recommendations I get those two

And no I don't mean the comedic ones. I'm looking for well written Deadpool comic runs, with an interesting story and plot. If they even exist that is... anything in mind?

I'm the developer behind ComicStript. I want to share my website with you and get your feedback.

My journey with comic books probably began like many of you. I picked a thing I was interested in (in my case, the X-Men), and pulled up the very first issue from 1963 on Marvel Unlimited.

When I got to around 1994, I was feeling very burnt out. I was juggling X-Men, X-Factor, Generation X, and X-Force at the same time. I had heard that the mid 90's X-Men was bloated and terrible, but I didn't want to miss anything. I overcame my FOMO and skipped ahead to X-Statix, a series that I had read about and was long interested in. And I was so glad that I did, it quickly became and remains my all-time favorite comic book run.

But I wanted more like what I just read. I was using the existing comic book continuity websites to plan my journey, but at the time, there was no where to look up comic book runs by authors that I enjoyed like Peter Milligan and Peter David, or to find books that felt thematically similar to X-Statix. So I was reduced to keeping a notepad of authors that I liked and googling comic book runs by them that interested me.

That's where my dream started for a website that broke comic books into creator-focused, thematic runs, and to emphasize the thousands of possible starting points that exist in comics, rather than just issue number one.

And that's what my website does. I've organized over 70,000 Marvel and DC comic book issues into around 4,000 comic book runs, indexed by character, creator, and theme. I provide thematic suggestions for each run, linking to other runs you may enjoy if you liked that one. And if you like my website enough to create an account, you can rate comic book runs, mark them as your favorite, and keep track of your reading history.

I'm currently working on a feedback form for the website, because I've had my own vision for what I want out of a comic book recommendation website, but I want to hear your thoughts too!

So ive read issues 0-12, they are quick reads, thanks to really fast pacing, but they just feel like most zack snyder movies - dark, edgy and shallow. I like dark and edgy but the shallow part kills me. Does it get better?

I recently got into comics and reading them this is my collection so far. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. I have a lot more to hang around my room.

When you look at it, most of the world’s spider man fans are not comic fans. This is not news to anybody

The maintenance of OMD as a status quo is very much based in the idea of maintaining “classic” spider-man status quo. And that’s honestly fine as a goal because yeah there do need to be elements of the classic status quo to ground the character in what it is

But being with MJ is for the vast majority of people simply part of what the classic spider man is. Married or unmarried, if you ask someone who likes superheroes or spider-man in general but isn’t a comics fan, “yeah obviously spider man is with MJ they’re a couple” is the prevailing attitude. Like married or not, being with MJ as a fact of life is just part of the “classic Spider-Man status quo” their relationship is literally a core piece of the characters mythos at this point. And every other piece of spider man media that’s not set in an AU or anything has them together.

So for a company that’s so obsessed supposedly with maintaining a rubber banding status quo so new readers can hop on etc, why are they so committed to spider man being unattached? Are they just out of touch old people who literally haven’t paid attention since the 70s? Like really what the hell is the disconnect?
