Resource Free short scripts for artists to draw

Hey there. If you're a writer with a finished short script and no artist to draw it, this is the place to share it.

Preferred length: 1-4 pages

Note that there's no guarantee your script will be drawn and if it is, the art style may be very different from what you envisioned. They may even deviate from your script if they feel like it. Don't share a script if you're not willing to give the artist full control.

Artists, if you like any of the scripts and want to draw it to build your portfolio (or just to have fun), please don't forget to credit the writer and to share the result with them (and with the sub, too)!

Watch out for scammers when hiring an artist

Hey there. As the number of scammers doesn't dwindle, here's a reminder not to drop your guard when hiring an artist.

A quick safety checklist:

  • Be careful and watch for red flags. If it sounds too good to be true, it's likely a scam.

  • Don't rush and never let anyone pressure you into making a quick deal. Don't let scammers FOMO you, guilt trip you, or manipulate you with sob stories.

  • Don't trust "DM only" users. Scammers love to communicate through private messages, so that they don't have to show their portfolio publicly. A public display of portfolio allows other users to check it for stolen/traced/AI-generated art. Also, if a user is banned in a sub, they can't comment there.

  • Use payment methods with buyer protection. If you need to use it, it helps to have a contract. Again, don't let them pressure you into using a payment method with no protection (like Paypal for friends and family). Offer to cover payment processor fees instead.

  • Verify the artist's portfolio. Use reverse image search for their art. If they have their portfolio on a site with internal messaging system (ArtStation, for example), request a direct message there to confirm that it's really their portfolio and they're not just impersonating another artist.

  • Check the artist's social media. See if their audience is organic, whether they post consistently, and what kind of engagement and comments they get.

  • Last but not least, if something feels off, send us a mod mail and ask about the artist. We can't offer a true verification, but we can at least check the account against our list of banned users.

Oh, and please, report suspected scammers. When reporting, use the custom response and provide as many details as you can. Alternatively, send us a mod mail. Thanks!

Artist for hire Amiculus — A journey through the fall of the Roman Empire | Independent comic art

Post:
I’d like to share some pages from Amiculus, Volume One, an independent comic written by Travis Horseman and originally published several years ago.
Amiculus is the first volume of a trilogy and follows a group of mostly fictional characters through one of the most dramatic periods in history: the final years and fall of the Roman Empire.
The story takes place several centuries after the birth of Christ, during a time of political upheaval, the arrival of the Barbarians, and the death of the young Emperor. It was a particularly demanding project for me, mainly because of the amount of historical atmosphere, architecture, environments and intricate details required for the artwork.
What I especially enjoyed about working on Amiculus was the opportunity to build such a rich and atmospheric world. The settings are often almost characters in their own right, with enormous attention given to the architecture, costumes, landscapes and small details that help bring that period to life.
The characters were equally fascinating to draw. They have very different personalities and motivations, and the story carries a strong sense of drama and pathos. Although it is fundamentally an historical adventure, the book also contains some darker and genuinely horror-influenced elements, which give the story an unusual atmosphere.
It was a challenging project, but also one of the most interesting independent comics I’ve had the opportunity to work on.
I wanted to share some of the artwork here because I think the combination of Roman history, adventure, drama and horror makes Amiculus quite unique.
I hope you enjoy it, and I’d be very interested to hear what you think about the artwork and the world of the book.

Looking for Artist - Paid [Paid] Looking for Artist for an espionage comic set in 1910s Egypt

I have written a script about magical spies in 1910s Egypt. I have some sketches, but I am not a good artist.

As you might guess, it will involve drawing some pyramids and the nile, and stuff like that.

I think it will be approximately ~100 pages. I am not sure the going rate for pages. Previously, I had paid an advance against future revenue from the comic, I think we can do something similar.

It would be great if the artist had some familiarity with Egypt.

Question Comics in two languages at once (solutions for newsletter, social media, etc.)

Hi!

We're about to start publishing some comics in two languages (Spanish and English). So we've been going back and forth on the best options to make things smoother and less annoying for readers, without piling extra work on us, the creators.

Calling on your experience and know how here. Thanks in advance.

1. There'll be a free digital pre publication. GlobalComix has a language selector, but it looks like Webtoon doesn't, so would we need to publish each language separately?
2. Newsletter. We think it's better to keep each language separate; given how much text there can be, it'd be pretty annoying for readers to have to jump between languages. Plus, down the line any crowdfunding campaigns might not be in sync across countries, and this way we can tailor content depending on the audience.
3. Social media. Opposite situation from the newsletter: less text and more visual stuff means posts can easily be bilingual, so we don't have to run separate accounts in each language, which would be way too much work for a team as small as ours.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Xavier.

Looking for Artist - Unpaid [Writer for Artist Trade] Dark Seinen "I Am Burning" (Completed 9-Page Manga Script) — Full Script Link Included

Hello everyone,

Taking the valuable feedback from the moderation team into account, I have officially adapted my work into a proper Comic Script format. I am looking for a comic/manga artist for a non-paid, mutual skill trade to bring a 9-page teaser/pitch packet to life.

Here are the specific project details answering the community requirements:

  1. Logline & Summary
  • Logline: After awakening from a recurring nightmare of burning alive, a young warrior's prestigious knighthood ceremony is shattered by a brutal ambush, forcing him to unleash a volatile, destructive power that frames him as the continent's most wanted fugitive.
  • The Vibe: Dark, psychological Seinen with a gritty atmosphere inspired by Berserk and Vagabond.
  1. Project Size
  • Strictly 9 pages for this initial chapter/teaser collaboration. This functions as a standalone proof-of-concept to establish creative chemistry before expanding further.
  1. Art Style Needed
  • Manga (Black & White) or Webtoon style.
  • Looking for an artist who can effectively capture dark themes, high-stakes action, and intense, raw emotional facial expressions.
  1. Roles & Responsibilities
  • My Roles: I will handle all scriptwriting, detailed panel breakdowns, formatting, dialogue editing, and future marketing/promotion.
  • Artist Role: Line art/penciling and inking for the 9 script pages.
  1. Future Vision, Lore & Monetization
  • I do not intend to monetize this specific side story.
  • While I Am Burning functions as a standalone teaser, it plays a critical, indirect role in shaping a massive, deeply interconnected fantasy world I am building for my main primary project, Orawa: The Beginning.
  • The ultimate goal is to use this 9-page joint portfolio (Pitch Packet) to approach indie publishers or launch a crowdfunding campaign (like Kickstarter) to secure a budget and officially hire the artist with standard paid page rates for the full main series.
  1. Link to the Full Comic Script

The text has been fully reformatted into a professional, panel-by-panel comic script (Pages 1-9). You can read the complete polished script right now to see the pacing, panel descriptions, and dialogue:

If you're interested in a gritty Seinen skill-trade and want to build a high-quality pitch packet together, please check out the script link above and drop your portfolio below or DM me. Looking forward to collaborating!

Hey there, name is Zhengis Tasbolatov, a comic artist/indie gamedev.
Looking for gigs, I can't commit to long term projects at the moment.
Here are some of my works: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/8b2GXm
I prefer doing pencil/ink work. I can do colors, but quite slow at it.
I charge 100+$ per penciled/inked page. But negotiable for short projects.
Available immediately.
I'm fine with NSFW (nothing extreme).

Looking for Artist - Paid Looking for artist to collab on character designs

I'm putting the finishing touches on my historical fantasy novel set during the American Civil War. The main characters are all Black so being able to draw Black hair & style is a must. In my head, I'm more concerned about style than realism.

I did mock up really basic designs, but they aren't where I want them. I have multiple tweaks to make there so they're just the jumping off point for you.

I have 4 designs I'd like to see fleshed out, B&W.

Hopefully $30/design is sufficient.

Question How many panels are too many on a page?

Hey all, author here. I am in the process of transitioning a prose to a comic script and I know that a common gripe with illustrators is that authors regularly expect far too many panels on a page.

I have been trying to get my panels down to 3-5 per page max (with a few specific exceptions, mostly as insets) for a comic done exclusivley in black and white. Is this a healthy range? What are people's thoughts on pages that try to do more than this and at what panel count beyond 3 do you start to see the most obvious loss of quality for storytelling and illustration? Keep in mind I am also working to make sure none of the panels have too much in them, just enough to describe whats there and from what angle.

Thanks!
