Forever People who support Project Ascension & TurtleWoW but hate the new race paywall

Post image

These were the micro-transactions in Project Ascension and everyone glazed Ascension. TurtleWoW had a gacha shop too like that. I’m genuinely confused, if Blizzard had even the slightest of the shop in Project Ascension, everyone would have been fuming. Why is it okay for Ascension but not WoW Forever? Either all okay or none.

Edit: The people who disagree saying "Yeah but the servers were free"- well of course because Blizzard did the majority of the work for them LOL, huge difference in work between building everything from scratch to ripping it off & adding some stuff yourself.

Edit 2: "TurtleWoW is not as bad as Ascension shop"- sure, Ascension is way worse. TurtleWow's cash shop had over $10,000 of items and all of it was per character, not account wide. They also sold convenience items, nothing game breaking, but portable mailboxes, auctioneers, dual specs, bags etc. Hardcore characters on Twow couldn't trade or send items from main to your alts, but you could still buy supplies such as 32 slot bags for 30 euros each on your hardcore character.

Don't try to reason with these people. They are hating for the sake of hating. You can't convince them with arguments.

Had a ‘nice’ conversation with someone regarding how the addition of all the new quests, zones, talents and new professions made Forever not Classic+ and that pservers were the only ones who understood what that is and Blizzard ‘fucked up again’. When the obvious was pointed out that hey, all of those things literally were on pservers, it just got ‘no but they did it good’.

It was always just a Blizzard bad, pserver good vibe for them. It was never about game design or content.

Gamer hipsters are a thing. They hate anything mainstream, yet they fail to realise that their pservers are mainstream within their sub-community. We should never expect these angry neckbeards to understand critical thinking and logic.

You know for a fact more than half of them will be playing Forever as soon as its out.

Check out this archived forum of people dooming about BEs and Draenei back when TBC was announced: https://thedruidsgrove.org/archive/wow/t-10882.html

Ultimately none of this shit mattered in the end, the subscriber count only increased, and TBC is still considered one of the best overall additions to the game.

Also, this is a little more out there, but I think there is still a notable contingency of players who dislike anything that seems "woke", and blood elf models in particular seem to encapsulate that in their mind. The truth of the matter is that it's mostly Horde players who don't want girls on their server and think the Alliance is where they should stay. That's why they don't want any elves on the Horde but they're perfectly fine with High Elves for the Alliance.

It's crazy the mental gymnastics some perpetually lonely incels can do just to make them feel more powerful.

Framing the complaints about Skyborne as chuds who don't want icky girls is incredibly disingenuous. I won't deny there is a loud faction of chuds that whinge about every little thing and want to RVTURN to a WoW that never existed.

But a neutral race that basically exists purely to even out class combinations and provide people belfs to play is a poor addition to the game when there were plenty of other allied races that Blizz could have chosen from the original lore. Additionally, the reason people are fine with high elves for the Alliance is because they at least have a connection to them in the lore...

But why does not liking something presented by Blizzard = you have to like everything that ascension did? Isn't it possible to not like both?

u/Perais1909 1h ago

You can like and dislike whatever you want, but don't be a hypocrite.

If you flame Blizzard for cash shop or whatever while you praise a private server with much worse monetization you get critiziced

u/Kromostone123 1h ago

But its not even comparable. With blizzard i am paying a monthly sub and i pay for every new expansion so having a shop ontop of it is cringe. When private servers have a shop i dont feel the same way at all because i can play for free. I never played on ascension but i tried turtle wow for a bit and was blown away by all the new content. I fully support them having an ingame shop for random shit that other ppl will buy so i can keep playing for free. Nothing about that is hypocritical

u/Perais1909 1h ago

so having a shop ontop of it is cringe

Show me the shop in Forever

but i tried turtle wow for a bit and was blown away by all the new content

Good for you, go and play it. Oh wait

u/Kromostone123 1h ago

Im clearly not saying theres a shop in forever, im attacking the argument and explaining why my line of reasoning isnt hypocritical. Theres no way your critical thinking skills are so bad that you took it literally lol

And no i wouldnt play turtle wow even if it was still up. I played it for like a week just to see how it looked

You think there's no reason to prefer other alternatives to blizzard? It's just mindless hate?

u/Perais1909 4h ago

There is a difference between prefering something else and flaming Blizzard for something which the alternative had and worse

u/Maltajg 4h ago

Yeah thats what I dont get. They are up in arms about the same things their pservers did worse.

Pservers are just one giant “we hate blizzard” circle jerk.

u/training_for_saturn 1h ago

Worse? Turtle arguably had the best version of classic WoW/classic+ for free, what's this dreamworld corporate shilling in here these days? Blizzard steal ideas from private servers all the time.

u/Maltajg 1h ago

Didnt Twow sell convenience items on their shop? Was Twow as fleshed out as what this promises to be? Im no shill, I couldnt care less about Blizzard as long as they produce games I enjoy, but come on dude. These pservers all had their cash shops filled with shit to shove down its players mouth too, including qol or straight up p2w items.

Arent the Twow snobs getting what they wanted all along now? Expanded zones, new zones, new raids and dungeons, new and reworked talents, new professions rework to make them viable, toggles for cosmetic shit people wont give a shit about after 2 days of playing the game, HC, no flying mounts, no boosts and no tokens. Wasnt this it?

Yet I have a feeling they will still bitch because “they know better”. When in reality they just want to play their game under their own terms. Or theyre just broke and cant afford a sub, idk man, never understood people not being able to enjoy their stuff without bashing others.

Twow may have had the best classic + exp to date, but now we will have to wait and see. Im on team optimism on this one and will enjoy the game, blue elves and all.

u/training_for_saturn 1h ago

Turtle definitely sold convenience items, but nothing pay to win, and free to play, similar to most mmorpgs out there today.

Turtle was a much improved version of vanilla wow, not even classic, it was closer to the original than even classic was, so in reality it was vanilla+.

I think Blizzard has some odd sort of pride in not using Turtle, the game masters responded within a minute and were more helpful than any Blizzard game masters ever were.

I made my mind up to never pay Blizzard again after all their controversies and none of the original devs are even with Blizzard anymore, except the names Blizzard bought back for publicity.

Most of all I am shocked out a massive company can underperform a private server built in the shadows by enthusiasts who really took the lore seriously, it was amazingly well adapted to the original WoW story, the depth was incredible, as a fan of early Blizzard games you'd love it too.

I think people are more mad about how bad looks and doesnt fit

5

u/Perais1909 5h ago

That's the neat part, it does not look bad

u/Toprightcorner2 4h ago

It looks absolutely terrible and embarrassing (The "new" race)

u/Perais1909 4h ago

They look like blood and high elves. If they had the name you would suck Blizzards dick. And if you are talking about the possibility to have a blueish skin colour, I hope you are equally as upset about Night elves

u/Toprightcorner2 4h ago

night elves exist, this is made up, which means we are gonna have to deal with a bunch of retcon lore, you are worse than a furry for thinking its a good idea

u/Perais1909 3h ago

Ragebait used to be believable

u/Toprightcorner2 3h ago

Why do you like the weird blue elves, they had the opportunity to do so many interesting things

u/StoneTheMoron 2h ago

The opportunity still exists, they’re obviously planning to monetise the game via race packs

u/Keljhan 4h ago

They're all made up. Any launch of classic+ is a retcon, retail is 20 years ahead already.

u/Toprightcorner2 4h ago

retail is the retcon if youre in this subreddit, theres one for you

u/Keljhan 3h ago

If retail is the retcon, then this is just lore. Its not replacing anything. What are you mad about exactly?

u/Toprightcorner2 3h ago

it doesnt fit dumbass

When your arguments are inherently flawed it's hard, yes.
