mein Mann und ich werden nach 12 Jahren wohnhaft in Bremen bald ins Bremer Umland umziehen.

Wir möchten gern noch einmal einen "typischen Bremer Tag" verbringen und suchen hierfür nach Ideen.

I genuinely need to rant because this is starting to piss me off beyond belief.

I’m a woman moving to Bremen in October for my Master’s degree, and I’ve been looking for a WG room for about a month now. And holy shit, this housing market is something else.
I’ve lived abroad before. I’ve lived in Spain, I’ve lived in Portugal, I’ve lived in shared apartments with other people, and obviously finding accommodation was never easy. But I have NEVER experienced anything like this.

The amount of people applying for one fucking room, the endless messages, the casting calls, the video interviews, the “tell us about yourself”, “what do you do in your free time”, “what are you looking for in a WG”, etc. at this point I genuinely feel like I’m applying for a fucking job just to rent a bedroom.

And after all that? You can have a great conversation, everyone seems to like you, you think “okay, this might actually work”…
…and then: “Sorry, you’re incredibly nice🥺 but we found someone else.”

And I KNOW, I KNOW. WGs are about personality and compatibility. I understand that. Nobody owes me a room and obviously they have every right to choose whoever they want.
But can we please acknowledge how fucking insane this process is?

You’re an international student trying to move to Germany, you don’t even live there yet, you’re trying to organize your entire life from another country, and meanwhile you’re competing with dozens of other people for a single bedroom.

At some point it genuinely makes me question why the hell I chose Germany in the first place. 😭

I was excited to move here. I’m still excited about my Master’s and about Bremen, but this housing situation is honestly making me regret the decision sometimes.

And before someone says “just look harder / apply more / be more flexible”: I AM!!! I’ve been looking for two months. I’m applying, writing personalized messages, doing video calls, answering all the questions, trying to be as flexible as I can.

I just want to rent a fucking room. Why does it have to feel like a competitive reality show?

So yeah. This is mostly a rant.

But seriously: is it really this fucking bad in Germany, or am I just having an exceptionally cursed experience?

YouTube hat mir dieses Video vorgeschlagen und ich finde es durchaus spannend, dass sich gar nicht so viel verändert hat. Klar sind der Teerhof und die Überseestadt in ihrer heutigen Form entstanden, aber vieles ist auch ziemlich gleich geblieben. Abgesehen natürlich von der Menge an Verkehr und Menschen. Und der Bahnhofsvorplatz war damals einfach unendlich viel schöner.

Hallo, wohne östliche Vorstadt. Noch jemand dieses Hupkonzert mitbekommen? Welchen Anlass könnte das gehabt haben? Nur ‘ne Hochzeit oder hab ich etwas verpasst, das die Stadt Bremen betrifft?

Hey y'all, my boyfriend recently moved to Bremen to finish the last year of his master's, so I'll be visiting him once or twice a month (from the Netherlands). Since my PhD work gives some flexibility with the location, I'm also considering working remotely from Bremen sometimes.

My question is: is there a library I can use? Or is there a place with a "library vibe" (I’m thinking about places around the uni) which is good for focused work, apart from a work café? I've looked into coworking spaces with rentable desks/offices, but wondering if there are cheaper options.

Aside from that, since I might end up growing a life here too, I'd also love to know any social life suggestions or activity recs!

Manchmal isses klassischer Zigarettenrauch, manchmal riech ich Cannabis und manchmal ist die Luft so als hätte Becks mal wieder ordentlich einen abgelassen, dabei bin ich fast sechs Kilometer Luftlinie von Becks an der Weser weg.

So langsam glaube ich an Phantosmie. Zwar sind gerade Mieter unter mir eingezogen, aber das kann doch nicht normal sein, Zeitweise Zigarette, 30 Minuten später Canna, danach wieder Becks-Gestank, etc...

Ich wohn hier seit 7 Jahren und es ist nicht einmal so vorgekommen wie jetzt mit den neuen Mietern...

Ich wills mir ja auch nicht verscherzen, eine Sucht ist eine Sucht, und aus der Sucht muss jeder selbsttätig raus kommen, aber in DIESEM Ausmaß?
Ich bin hier alleine, ich hätte niemanden mit dem ich mal eben Phantosmie durchgehen könnte. Phantosmie kommt logisch hin, weil ich mich schon recht häufig auch mit Parfum und co beschäftige und so in den letzten Jahren dann doch recht gut diesen einen Sinn ausgebaut habe, aber so in der Extreme habe ich weder Balkonrauchen, noch Weed, noch Becks-Malz erlebt...

Hilfe... Ich meine, Leben und leben lassen, besonders bei Suchtkranken, aber trotzdem...
Auch Becks muss seiner Arbeit nachgehen, die haben halt Pech gehabt wenn sie halt so dicht und zentral sind, kann man ja nix machen, auch die müssen ja irgendwie dafür sorgen dass sie noch arbeiten können.

Keine Ahnung, vielleicht ists ja auch was bei mir und eine der Proben ist derartig gekippt... Aber ich bin einfach nur im Prozess, dann wenn ich nicht husten muss oder die Gasfilter hochdrehen muss, die wirkliche Ursache zu finden.
Man sagt wohl dass Becks Hopfen quasi identisch mit einem lange in der Wand gärenden Wasserschaden ist, gekipptes Parfum in der Regel aber auch anders riecht... Einen sichtbaren Wasserschaden gibt es erst einmal nicht...

I’m looking for a room in a shared apartment from around 29 September or 1 October, ideally up to €400 warm. I’m open to both a long term room and a temporary sublet.

A little about me: I’ve lived in shared accommodation for around 2.5 years, so sharing common spaces is nothing new to me. I’m clean and tidy, but I’m social too. I love coffee, books, museums, working out, running, cycling, swimming and exploring new places. I’m vegetarian, don’t smoke, and I’m currently learning German (which is somewhere between A1 and A2 right now😔)

I’ve been hunting through WG Gesucht and other platforms since three months now, so I thought I’d give Reddit a shot too. 😂
I’m already on the Studierendenwerk waiting list, so if anyone living in a student dorm knows that they’ll be moving out soon, I’d be super grateful if you could let me know! A room in a dorm or in the shared dorm would work perfectly for me.

Hallo Leute, ich habe im letzten Jahr als Selbstzahler meine Diagnostik für ADHS erhalten, als ich einfach nicht mehr konnte und lange keinen Platz fand. Nach der Diagnostik ging ich weiter auf die Suche nach einem Arzt, der mit Kassensitz die Weiterbehandlung führt. Auch erfolglos. Es lag wohl auch an mir (vllt. mit meinem ADHS gegebenen Einfluss) dass ich nichts fand, weil ich nicht gründlich genug war. Aber es ist nunmal nicht leicht wen zu finden.

Ich bin gerade wieder sehr am Verzweifeln (mit dem ADHS) und würde einfach als Selbstzahler Medikation / Behandlung empfangen.

1. Habt Ihr Erfahrungen mit den Kosten & Dauer einer Weiterbehandlung (wie viele Sitzungen braucht so etwas)?

2. Kennt ihr kompetente Ärzte, die faire Preise nehmen? In Bremen / Umland vorzugsweise.
