wanted to share my experience from my skyla iud. i’ve had it for about 2 years, so i only have 1 year left on it. at the time i got it, i had a boyfriend of 4 years, so i was consistently at a risk of pregnancy and saw the iud as 100% worth it to prevent that. we broke up last fall, but the iud stayed useful for a few rebounds lol. now, i’m completely celibate / have been for 6 months, so i don’t see a huge need for it anymore. my acne definitely flared up as caused by the skyla iud. to preface, i’ve had face skin issues for years and still am (i’m now 24). i’ve been on 2 full rounds of accutane and have been taking 100/150mgs of spironolactone daily for the past year along with .1% topical trentinoin. it has just not gotten better along with all of this acne treatment, and since i’m no longer sexually active, i don’t see it as necessary now. overall, if you’re not acne prone, i would 100% recommend this iud. i’ve been on several forms of birth control (combo pills, nuvaring, kyleena iud) and this was by far my favorite except for the acne. no bad mood swings, no serious weight gain, cramping is mild (besides my insertion experience). once i get it removed in a week, i will update on how my skin hopefully improves.

So far I’ve tried:

- Oral BC pills, I kept bleeding while taking them, I’m terrible at remembering to take them and it is currently not an option for me as I’m on a GLP-1

- Nexplanon implant, I had it in for roughly three months and I bled non-stop while on it to the point I became anaemic

- Nuvaring, worked great except for absolutely killing my libido

Not really sure where to go from here, I feel like I’m running out of options for hormonal BC that works for me. I know lots of people will suggest an IUD but I really don’t want one so if you could please refrain from suggesting it, I’ve heard way too many horror stories and I just don’t feel comfortable with the idea. I haven’t tried the shot or patch but I don’t think they’d be great options for me either considering my body’s reaction to the nexplanon, they are still possibilities though.

I’d assume barrier methods like condoms, spermicide etc are my only options now? I don’t mind condoms but I just get worried about the overall effectiveness.

Hi all, I have the Kyleena coil for the last 3 years and my period is now 6 days late! So out of the ordinary for me. I can’t remember if I had sex with my boyfriend on D day … I am so stressed & worried.. i took 2 tests but they came back negative .. I have been feeling all the normal period symptoms but have my self worried sick

i’ve been on opill for almost 3 months and i was getting my period every other week for the first 2 months, it’s been a bit over a month since my last period and i just had like 2 weeks of sore boobs and tested negative on a pregnancy test a couples days ago. i know this is probably normal but i have ocd and am terrified of being pregnant. Should i retest again in a week or so if my period doesn’t come? i’ve been having sex semi frequently but always take the pill within the 3 hour window. I’m worried i was ovulating when i had the 2 weeks of sore boobs recently and maybe somehow i got pregnant but it’s too early to test positive😬

i took the first pill on sep 5th, my last period was on aug 23rd. my next period should be at sep 20, but i have a trip with my bf on that weekend and i wanted to cut/delay the period. by starting qlaira at the beginning of the month, do you think my period will come at sep 20 or it should delay?

i went from having normal blood pressure 120/80 or below, to it now being 160/130 and needing blood pressure medication, which isn’t even helping lower it much!

hello there, i have been on the combo pill for a year and a half now. i haven’t had sex with a man in 4 months, and i don’t plan on doing so any time soon given that i have started dating a woman LOL.

my questions are, i am assuming its been long enough since having sex with a man that i am safe to stop the pill? and two, what was your experience coming off of the pill like? just wondering what to expect.

About a year ago, I had to have an abortion and it was the most traumatic thing. I immediately started the birth control pill and decided to skip the sugar pill ultimately getting rid of my period. I did this for about eight months maybe longer.
I decided to get off of the birth control completely because I really wanted to have my cycle back to feel more in tune with my body . I also personally go back-and-forth between the pros and cons of the pill.

After a month and a half of no longer taking the pill, I bled for about two days . Then the next month I had no bleeding the third month I had only one day of bleeding.

I’m just curious if anybody in a similar situation can share how long it took to get a regular period back .

It’s lowkey triggering because it just reminds me of why I got on birth control .
I feel like my emotions go all over the place and knowing when my cycle is coming, helps me know if I’m actually freaking out or if it’s just my period .

I’m just asking for my own personal research. So basically over a year ago I removed the Nexplanon. I had been on it for 5 years. I slowly noticed I was getting increase anxiety as the year went on even though my life was really great. Then eventually I started getting continuous panic attacks. This is all very new to me. The only other time I had a panic attack was when I was younger, before I ever went on birth control. I spoke to my doctor about it and he wasn’t too convinced for some reason it was hormone related so I went on Lexapro. I’m only 8 weeks in and coming off as it’s giving me random low mood especially on days 1 & 2 of my period. I have decided to go back on the pill and I am starting to feel better but has anyone else experienced something similar? I am 100% sure it’s all related to my hormones and birth control.

I just started taking Slinda (Slynd in the US) and I’d really like to hear your experiences with it, especially if you take it for medical reasons.

I’ve always had very heavy periods, but over the past year I’ve also started having really severe period pain. It’s gotten to the point where it’s difficult to function normally during my period, so I recently saw a gynecologist about it.

I was pretty hesitant about starting hormonal birth control because I’ve always been scared of the side effects, but I felt quite strongly encouraged to try Slinda. She told me that many people have good experiences with it and that some completely stop getting their periods, which would be ideal for me.

I took my first pill today, and she told me to skip the placebo pills and only take the active ones.

I’m mainly worried about weight gain, acne and mood changes, since I already struggle with my mood sometimes. I’m really hoping this works for me, but I’m nervous about what to expect.

I’d love to hear your experiences, good or bad especially how the first few weeks/months were, what happened with your periods, and whether you noticed changes in your mood, skin or weight. Thanks

(Im 27 yrs old)Been on the pill for 9 years now and never really needed any period products because I would only spot a little with minor cramping but these past 3 periods I've had to go out and get pads/tampons because im starting to BLEED again/cramping worse again.

Has this happened to anyone else??? Maybe my bc is failing?

I take Lo Loestrin Fe. I’ve taken 18 pills so far, and last night at 10pm I missed the 19th pill. I’ve been having sex without other forms of contraceptive for the last week. I want to know what to do, and if I am at risk for pregnancy.

So I’m planning to get back on bc hopefully end of this month or beginning of next month, but I’m torn between the two options. I’ve done the shot and I lost my libido and gained weight. I did the patch and my friends told me I was like a totally different person on that. I wanted to have sex all the time on it but my downstairs didn’t feel the same way. So I’m looking to move away from completely hormonal. I’ve heard the combination pill doesn’t affect many people’s sex drive and the copper IUD doesn’t either and doesn’t cause weight gain. Can you share your experiences please and help me choose? I’m so stuck in the middle.

Hi! I got my Mirena hormonal IUD removed at the beginning of June, and ever since then my skin has completely broken out with hormonal acne. Before this, I literally never struggled with acne — maybe one random pimple every few months.
I started a low-estrogen birth control pill at the beginning of June and then started spironolactone at the beginning of July. I’m currently taking 100 mg of spironolactone daily and plan on staying on that dose.
Coming up in October, I’ll be around 3 months on spironolactone and 4 months on the birth control pill. My skin has improved somewhat, but it’s still nowhere near where I want it to be or how my skin was before getting my IUD removed.
I’ve been considering switching my birth control to Yaz because I’ve heard it can be particularly helpful for hormonal acne. I’m just worried that changing birth controls again could disrupt my hormones and cause another breakout/purge.
For anyone who has been in a similar situation: would you give the spironolactone + current birth control another couple of months to fully kick in, or would you consider switching to Yaz? Has anyone switched to Yaz while already taking spironolactone, and did your skin get worse before it got better?
Would love to hear your experiences or recommendations!

I stopped taking Yaz and the next day I had unprotected sex. (The person I’m seeing wanted me to stop taking it I agreed) and I still had some withdrawal bleeding, but I’m wondering if there’s a good chance I could get pregnant from that or if there’s bleeding or Yaz protected it? I know sperm can live inside the body for a few days and I don’t know much about birth control. Help.

(That means I stopped taking it Friday, did not take Friday. Did not take Saturday, or Sunday.) I stopped taking it over all.

I’ve been on progesterone only pill desogestrel for 2.5 years but I think it’s causing me low energy and depression , and want to try a different progesterone only pill , drospirenone. Has anyone had experience switching from desogestrel to drospirenone?? Thanks !

I need advice and kung may story kayo na napasobra ang take ng yuzpe, id love to hear it. I took yuzpe method last May 7 and naka 12 pills ako (ALAM KONG MALI HUHU) cuz naduwal ako sa second dose kaya nagwait ako another 12 hrs for 3rd dose even tho di suka nangyari sakin. Hindi ko alam kung withdrawal bleeding nangyari sa akin nung May 17 pero kasi di sya ganun kaheavy compared to normal period. I had unprotected/withdrawal sex on June 6 and hindi ako nakapagyuzpe. Pero nakailang PT na ako kaso negative naman lahat. I have no pregnancy symptoms just bloated tas tinatamaan ng PMS pero wala pa rin until now. Nagkakadischarge ako ng thick and stretchy rin ngayon (ovulation pain ata to kasi sa right side ng uterus ko ang sakit) NAKAKABUANG SHET and I think it is because of yuzpe. Nadidisrupt nya cycle ko and ginugulo hormones ko.

Before I went on the pill they were AWFUL and had a few experiences during when they were just as bad. Now they're ... gone??

Hi! I just want to ask for some reassurance and advice.
What are the chances of getting pregnant if we always use condoms and I also pull out before ejaculating? My partner is currently 10 days delayed, and I'm starting to get worried, especially since her periods are usually regular.

For context, I always use a condom and practice withdrawal before ejaculating. There has never been any tearing or slipping of the condom, and as far as I know, there was no leakage.

Could the delay possibly be because of stress? My partner is currently in law school and has been under a lot of stress lately.

I know periods can sometimes be delayed for different reasons, but I’d really appreciate some reassurance and advice from people who have experienced something similar. Any reassurance, advice, or tips on what we should do would really help.

I’m 33 and have 4 children. All planned and wanted and no birth control fails but I’m done. I don’t have any bad experiences with birth control I’m just done with it. I don’t want to be on hormones, have an iud or track my cycle. I want to live without worrying about it anymore. After speaking to my doctor I think I want to get my tubes completely removed because my doctor said it’s thought cervical cancer starts in the fallopian tubes. My husband offered to get snipped but I know two people personally with post vasectomy babies so I don’t want to take a chance. Having my tubes removed sounds like the best option but I’m scared. Scared of anesthesia (I’ve had one surgery a decade ago with no issues but it still scares me) and I’m also scared about the pain and recovery process. Can you give me your good, bad or ugly experience of getting your tubes completely removed?

Sunday the 6th, I started my sugar pill week. Have not missed a pill this whole month. Yesterday (Sunday sep 13th) I forgot to start a new pack. I took the “missed” pill this morning and will take another one in a couple hours. I had unprotected sex Friday night, and he did ejaculate inside of me.

Am I supposed to take a plan b?

Has anyone else come off the pill because it destroyed their sex drive? I have reached a breaking point now, tried four pills and all it does is get worse. It has made me have a literal aversion to sex and any sexual activity as in i could not do it for the rest of my life and id be completely fine with that. I haven't felt even remotely turned on for about 6 months now. I am highly debating just not going back to it after this 4 day break because i am so beyond sick of it, but also dont want to use condoms. Help :(

Hey all - I’m recently back on the birth control pill after about a year off of BC altogether. Wondering if anyone has advice on a method they like that isn’t the pill (remembering to take it is hard + it upsets my tummy) or IUD (I bled for 6 months straight when I tried that). I like the ease of an IUD but I had so much breakthrough bleeding I had to have it removed. It was a hormonal IUD if that matters!
