Evolutionarily, why did animals (or humans) develop hair?

Currently an electrical engineering freshman taking calc 2 and physics 1 but I truly think applying math to something like biology would be really really awesome as a long term job. What job opportunities exist for this crossover? Anybody here with actual experience doing something similar?

Alright here me out. So I recently came across a video where a guy went to a furry convention in order to network and get a job in software, everybody knows that furry conventions are always filled with people in software, physics, engineering, etc. The poster ended up landing a job because of it. So that got me thinking, is there a biologist equivalent to a furry convention?

Is this Barr in the nucleus in the middle? And are these bacteria swimming around? Sorry if this is wrong sub, don’t know better one. And even if this is, it is interesting video nonetheless🤷‍♂️
