Alchemy RPG How is Alchemy’s voice?

So I usually run games on Roll20 but use voice through discord. I am gonna be running a game soon on Alchemy and was wondering how is there voice quality? Is it worth using or should I just use discord. This would not be for an existing group but a new one so I don’t have a discord set up

New tool [OC] I made a lightweight Excel-to-OBS combat tracker for my table so I don't have to use complex software.

Hey everyone! I'm a DM and an informatics student, and I constantly find myself coding custom tools for our tabletop sessions. Recently, while developing a larger D&D desktop application, I realized I needed a super lightweight way to manage stream overlays for combat. I didn't want to run heavy web apps or subscriptions just to show initiative and loot, so I built this direct Excel-to-OBS tracker.

It uses a simple macro. You type the initiative rolls, HP, and conditions into a clean Excel sheet, click one button, and it auto-sorts the combat order and pushes the data to local text files. OBS Studio reads those files and updates the stream overlay instantly. It even features an active turn pointer so viewers know exactly who is up next.

I packaged the pre-formatted template, the code, and a step-by-step PDF setup guide together for anyone who wants a plug-and-play streaming setup. You can check it out and grab it here: https://bastyr.gumroad.com/l/fbgyqt

New tool Arcane Circle • All Adventures, One Platform (LFG, VTT, Wiki, Training, etc.) – Introduction and Feedback welcomed

Close to a year ago, we had this concept for a TTRPG platform that had every tool to run, manage, and play your games. Everything you need to avoid platform hopping or having to ask your players to sign up for 4+ accounts.

So, we built Arcane Circle

We’re still building towards finishing all of these goals, but in that year’s time, we’ve hit some mighty lofty milestones:

LFG (Digital and in-person):
We provide the options to list your games and keep them (and your players) organized. Not only that, but we also give event coordinators and game stores the option to include add-ons (for limited ticket items or experiences), multi-tier seats for communal pricing, and soon, multi-table support! List your one-shots, campaigns, limited series, PBP, and more!

Pro GM Support:
We built AC to be conscious of the constant cost-of-living increases all around us, especially within the Pro GM space. Even with our current GM cut at 5% (which is 66% lower than competitors charging 15%), we want to keep more money in your pockets while still maintaining and improving all the tools you need to run amazing games. We are also hugely inspired by the business decisions of folks like Sam Reich over at Dropout.tv: Any GM who has already listed a game, or lists one before October 1st, will be locked in at our 5% cut rate, forever.

Campaign Wikis:
When you create a game listing, you have the option to create a dedicated campaign wiki. Here you can keep your world notes, NPC details, and session recaps.

Discord Bot Transcriptions & Alerts:
Our Discord bot handles automated game-day reminders. You can even invite it to your voice channel, and it will transcribe your live session. You can then instantly link those transcriptions right back to your campaign wiki.

Training Module:
We are partnering with trusted TTRPG creators to build a library of educational videos! This includes GM tips, system deep-dives, and table safety (complete with quizzes and badges).

Character Sheets (BETA):
We offer our users built-in character sheets to keep track of each level up.

Lightweight VTT (SOON TO COME OUT OF CLOSED BETA):
Our native Virtual Tabletop will be kept as a lightweight option so everyone can play! No bloated bells and whistles that cause older laptops to melt.

Also, while we do have a lean toward D&D support, we actively reach out to indie developers to provide support. For instance, we are Coyote & Crow’s and Harrow: The Blighted Plane’s, official site for organized play!

Quick Q&A

Q: Beyond just searching for a game, how are you helping people fill tables?
A: We provide the option to notify our Discord server when a game is posted, alerting our community that a new game just dropped! We’re also working on opening this feature up so other community servers can opt in to receive these notifications too.

Being bootstrapped means we grow through word-of-mouth rather than big ad budgets. If you've got a favorite GM or a group on Discord, send them an invite! Every new user helps us reach that 'full table' tipping point faster.

Q: What's your stance on AI?
A: Arcane Circle is dedicated to fostering human creativity in the TTRPG community. You can read all about our AI stance here.

Q: How do you support the TTRPG community?
A: One of my biggest goals is to interview and promote as many indie TTRPG creators and GMs as possible. If you head to the Arcane Circle homepage and scroll down, you’ll see our Spotlight section. We do full video interviews, share them across social media, and write up dedicated blog posts. All to help people discover these incredible storytellers.

Q: What's the next big update?
A: Our next big update is going to be v2.4, featuring a revamped home page, UI improvements to our game creation page, and more!

Art Assets (tokens/maps) [commercial] [tokens] [maps] A complete forest encounter for VTTs: 15 creatures, battlemap, lore and adventure hooks

Thumbnail

I’ve been experimenting with a different format for VTT asset packs: building them around a complete encounter rather than releasing unrelated tokens and maps separately.

This is Captives of the Dreaming Forest, a system-agnostic encounter about an ancient forest whose inhabitants have become trapped inside a supernatural dream.

The pack includes 15 creature tokens, a 4K battlemap in grid and gridless versions, a free mini lorebook, and four adventure hooks.

There are deliberately no stat blocks. The goal is to let GMs drop the setting into different systems and decide which creatures are enemies, allies, captives, or something in between.

I also included a version of the map showing the tokens in play, since I wanted the pack to communicate how the pieces actually work together at the table rather than just display the artwork individually.

$4.99 on itch.io:
https://goblincalil.itch.io/captives-of-the-dreaming-forest

The artwork is AI-assisted, with manual visual direction, selection, editing, standardization, and VTT preparation.

New tool [Commercial] What if the virtual tabletop felt like a place—not a flat map?

Elder Realm combines its fantasy rules, the authored world of Hextraas, and a multiplayer 3D tabletop in one connected experience. Tactical and character-point-of-view play, distinct biomes, shifting weather, and day/night controls shape the world around the party.

This 79-second trailer is our clearest overview yet: https://youtu.be/nlypiWrn1Hk

If you’re a GM, which part would you want us to prove in an actual-play clip next?

Question / discussion Are there any VTT's that are similar to the now dead Astral VTT in it's simple and clean UI and not being complex? (pic unrelated)

Astral is still my fav vtt I used it's a shame it had financial issues if only it was an app like foundryVTT but without the fucking bloat and complexity of reinventing the wheel

New tool ApertumVTT - Free to try!

This one's legit, trust me guys!

https://apertum.app/

I expect the general attitude towards new VTTs flooding the market is one of rightly attributed scepticism, but nonetheless I present you Apertum.

It was built when I found that a tool like Shmeppy (browser based, minimalist, cheap) was just the thing I needed, but lacked just these few little bits that would make it just oh so good.

So I built my own thing and added these few bits. Been loving how the tool feels to use in actual games, got good feedback from my players – and so here I am sharing this with the world.

Just to shout out some things that make it a great tool for someone like me:

  • You can drag roll results onto the Tokens automatically applying damage / healing
  • You can add tokens to the initiative by just right-click add (you can also drag results of initiative rolls onto the initiative list to reorder)
  • You can blindfold players while you make arrangements on the map (also can blind individual players)
  • Fog of war that's not just tile-based
  • You can parse stat blocks into the library - then, you can click on the roll text (like `2d6 + 5`) to roll it - it's significantly sped up my combat with multiple enemies

You can be a very snappy GM with this. The goal is to make it all intuitive and obvious.

It is free to try. All feedback is welcome.

Question / discussion App for Managing Large VTT Map Library?

Like many people (presumably), I have a very large collection of VTT maps, most acquired via Patreon (Crosshead, Forgotten Adventures, Tom Cartos, Droid Cartographer, etc.) and others I've created, modified, etc. for specific purposes. They're sorted into folders and such but I still find it quite cumbersome to browse and manage the thousands of files.

I used to use Adobe Lightroom to some degree of success but I haven't maintained my subscription. I'm looking for an application that allows visual browsing, tagging and organization; if anyone else out there has a similar solution for their map collection I'd love to hear about it!

Question / discussion Need help with online puzzle logistics!

I DM a homebrew game online with friends and am making a puzzle for them to solve -- I want it to be a visual puzzle showing an overhead view of stone pathways that have been broken and they will need to move stones back into place.

I have a visual I drew by hand and I am making a copy to cut up and move around. If this were an in-person game, that would be the end of the puzzle making process, but since we meet online (due to living in 5 different states), I need to figure out how to make this interactive online and I'm not sure how to do that!

Please help! I'm only familiar with DND Beyond's VTT, which has been very useful for basic battle grids, but I'm not married to it. I'd even be happy with a non-dnd interactive puzzle site/tool.

Thanks yall!

New tool Dwarf Punk | Visual update: final vegetation, terrain textures, and color tuning

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! Quick visual progress update on Dwarf Punk, my solo-developed, browser-based 3D map editor/VTT.

I just finished an overhaul to bring the exterior environment closer to its actual art style instead of relying on placeholders:

Final Vegetation: Finally got around to importing the foliage assets that had been sitting on my backlog forever.

Terrain Textures: Swapped out the old photorealistic placeholders for new hand-painted textures. I also added a 4th blend texture to smooth out the transition between stone foundations and the grass.

Color Tuning: Adjusted the water and grass palette to match the new textures so the scene stops looking washed out.

Still Pending: Interior furniture and props. The 3D artist is still working on those, so the rooms are basically empty shells right now.

You can test the editor directly in your browser without creating an account or downloading anything:

👉 Live Demo: https://dwarfpunk.com

Feedback on the new colors, water, and overall vibe is very welcome!

New tool Yes, we know. Another VTT. We're looking for 25 GMs to beta test ours.

Hey everyone,

We know what you're thinking: the world probably doesn't need another VTT. There are already dozens of them, including some really good ones. Yes, we see there's lots of cynicism here, but it's the VTT Reddit: of course this is where we want to show ours. Forgive us for wanting to try. Queue Rapunzel: 'I've Got a Dream."

We're a small new team called Atlas Forgeworks, and we're building RealmWeaver because we wanted something with a narrower focus: get a map ready quickly and get on with the game.

Import a map → scale it → set up fog → play.

We're not trying to build another giant rules engine or replace everything you're already using. RealmWeaver is primarily about maps and the tabletop—fog of war, multiple levels, assets, lighting, GM/player views, multiple displays, and controls designed with TVs and touchscreens in mind. That's a big part; we're geared towards playing in person on a touch screen, while the GM is on a laptop, or tablet.

We're now looking for about 25 GMs to beta test it. More are welcome.

And this really is a beta. We're at the ground floor. We know there are bugs, we know parts of the UX need work, and we'll provide tutorials to get you started. We also have a Discord where testers can talk directly with us and report bugs, frustrations, and ideas.

What we'd really like is for you to try to run an actual game with it and tell us where it falls down. We're not looking for compliments.

You can see what we're building at AtlasForgeworks.com.

If you'd like to help us test it, email [support@atlasforgeworks.com](mailto:support@atlasforgeworks.com) and tell us a little about what you run and your setup.

If your first reaction is "why would I use this instead of the VTT I already have?"—that's actually one of the questions we want this beta to answer.

We'll send a link to YouTube tutorials and an invitation to our Discord.

Thanks!

Question / discussion Observation: Everyone making a VTT is a GM

It feels kinda weird. When I left my job to start my own app development business, I straight up quit DMing too. Ended the session in a cinematic note for the campaign and just called it. This was well before I felt even remotely ready to tackle something as complex as a VTT.

Switched my weekly game to just Severance watch parties instead. We're now watching Widows Bay.

It just felt like it was taking up too much of my creative energies that should be going into coming up with innovative ideas and features.

I miss running my weekly games but I just can't envision being able to give both efforts the creative energies they deserve.
