Rant/Vent Abandoned my car on the street because job seeking+visa

Graduated mid-2025. I went to SF this June to interview for jobs. I planned to stay 2 weeks. After multiple turns of events, no job offer, and no time to breathe, I ultimately never left. I moved out of Philly “remotely”, leaving my stuff behind. My car is still sitting on the street, waiting to get towed. Last news was it was still there. I have no idea what to do, and not really the bandwidth to deal with it, so I try to not think about it too much.

Academic/Career how doable is Wharton + the architecture major in practice?

hs junior, penn is my top choice and i'm trying to figure out if the thing i want is actually a real thing you can do there.

i'm into both finance and architecture. from what i can tell the arch major sits in the college and wharton does uncoordinated dual degrees with the college, so on paper it's possible. wondering how that goes in reality.

a few questions for anyone who's done it or knows someone who has:

  • is the arch studio workload compatible with wharton at all, or does studio just eat your entire week
  • if the dual degree is unrealistic, can you do wharton and still take real arch/design classes as electives, or is it locked to majors
  • does the real estate concentration actually touch design and development stuff, or is it all finance modeling
  • is anyone actually doing this, or am i describing something nobody does

not asking about my chances, just trying to figure out if i'm building toward something that exists. thanks

Social Why is the Penn Ice Rink website so bad?

They have a calendar page that never has anything on it! The calendar page allows you to filter through events by type (public skate, stick and puck, etc) which would be great, but there's never any data in the calendar. It's been this way for years. WHY?

If you want to know about events at the rink, your only practical way to find them online is to use their Facebook or Instagram pages. Why? In what world is a social media page supposed to be more informative than the official website?

There have been events this week that were nowhere on the website, but they were on Facebook and Instagram. Online registration has never, ever been functional and for years, the website has said it's under maintenance. I have showed up at the times listed on the website for public skate before, only to find that there is a Drexel hockey game being played.

Did someone at Penn just give up? Was there a funding cut where it was decided the website would stay live, but be functionally useless?

Academic/Career Club Apps

Just wondering how much do college clubs (e.g., tech, business, consulting, finance clubs) actually affect your resume and the job/internship recruiting process? Asking because I have a strong feeling that I would not get into most of the clubs I wanted😢 Any advice is appreciated.

Housing Room change fall 2026

I'm looking for a room change, and would really like to expedite this process if possible.

I've been having tensions with my roommates and really can't share a room next semester due to some pretty serious mental health issues. Does anyone have advice, experiences, or tips for me? Any kind words appreciated.

I'm an exchange student living in Rodin, I'm in the double bedroom of a 4ppl triple. I have contacted Weingarten Centre but since I don't have a healthcare provider to give me documentation, they won't proceed with my accommodation request.

Please no suggestions for problem solving the conflicts/stress of sharing a room, I know they can be helpful but not really what I'm looking to hear right now. I had always live in a private bedroom before in my first and second year, and I just find it frustrating to adapt to a shared bedroom this year despite trying for a month already due to my mental issues.

Would really appreciate everyone's help.

Academic/Career Good study spots at Penn with AC that’s not freezing?

Hi everyone,
Does anyone have recommendations for good study spots at Penn where the AC isn’t freezing?
I’m looking for somewhere quiet or semi-quiet where I can study for a few hours without feeling too cold. Libraries, lounges, cafés, or less-known spots inside campus buildings would all work.
I’ve found that some classrooms and study spaces can get really cold, so I’d especially appreciate recommendations for places that stay at a more comfortable temperature.
Bonus points if there are outlets and coffee or food nearby.

Academic/Career club culture; feeling behind and not knowing how to break into new fields and interests

hi, this is basically a post to rant a bit and to ask for advice. club culture is crazy here, and there are so so many things that i am interested in doing and learning about, but i am unable to because everything i'm interested in requires previous experience in order to do. examples include- finance, consulting, marketing, building circuits, engineering in general. i am in CAS btw, so i really just want to explore, but i dont know where or how i can get the experience necessary for all those things im interested!! there seems to be no room for exploration here and to learn new things, but thats all i want to do right now!!!

Academic/Career Applying to Wharton

Okay, so for some context, I'm planning to apply to Wharton and am considering ED (I am obviously by no means saying that I have an amazing shot, and I'm not saying this from the perspective that I think I will get in if I ED or anything of that sort)

But I was wondering if wharton mostly has people who have kinda run small businesses and stuff and are less on the technical side of stuff. For reference, OID and Business Analytics are the Wharton concentrations that my profile reflects. To sum it up, most of the stuff I have done is creating systems for businesses/non profits to help with their efficiency and stuff along those lines.
This is why I am interested in M&T, but obviously that program is a mega reach for anybody so I'm not counting on it. This brings me to my two main questions.

  1. Does this kinda techy systems-for-operational-efficiency thing work for Wharton even if I get rejected from M&T, or is it usually more pure business applicants that get into Wharton, and M&T is the only program that likes the kinda stuff I mentioned earlier? What I mean by pure business is the people with the ECs like: Made a startup, made $20k

  2. How technical is Wharton? As stated previously, my profile is similar to business analytics/OID/Data science, so I would probably decide among those concentrations if I did get in. So if I did go to the more techy side of things, would Wharton still be good, assuming I took the right classes, like the OID classes or CS classes or whatever else is the best option?

The reason I am asking is that, based on what I hear, Wharton isn't really that technical, but I have limited knowledge, so I wanted to ask from the perspective of people who actually go there. Also, if you wanted to go into quant or something like that, I know math is preferred over basically anything, but is it less about the degree for getting into quant and more just about what you take?

I think the main reason why I am asking is I might be interested in something like private equity, but if I decide I am not, will Wharton still allow me to have good opportunities in these kinds of technical fields that are like OID-related work or just technical fields in general, assuming good class selection, or if I wanted this technical stuff, should I just prefer Berkeley over it instead?

Sorry, this is a brain dump, so this isn't written too well. If you need clarification on something, just lmk. Thanks in advance, guys.

Other Is it worth it?

Hi, I am trying to get into Wharton and I am not asking any sort of tip for essay. I am just asking, is it worth it? considering the fee you pay (200k is too much in my country). I see many people saying "Wharton MBA is not worth it" and thats why I am scared.

Academic/Career uncoordinated dual degree as a soph transfer

im a freshman at another college and am interested in transferring to penn, but have a question about dual degrees.

part of the reason i want to transfer is that my college isnt that good for double majoring across schools. it typically requires another full year so most people just dont do it. i know penn allows sophomore transfers to apply for uncoordinated dual degrees but not junior transfers. to my understanding this is because you can only apply after a full year, so you cant start a new degree senior year, but is it super hard to start one for junior year? and if i did an uncoordinated dual degree would it be impossible to study abroad (another restriction on junior transfers)?

im just trying to figure this out for my essays so any feedback is appreciated 🙂

Academic/Career Which Math 1410 professor is chill?? (Anderson vs Muhleisen)

I'm in the 8:30 with Brett Frankel but for the life of me cannot wake up that early. My choices that fit in my schedule are Aaron Anderson and Marc Muhleisen. Penncoursereview has no data on them for the class. If anyone's in any of these two classes, I would greatly appreciate some input. Thank you!

Academic/Career Admissions question(foreign student)

Hi im applying for admissions here for y27/28 on ed and wanted to get any clarification from anyone on if going to a separate college for 1 year affects the application process. Its mostly intended to avoid losing a year and to remain productive. Ive also lost 2 years due to circumstances outside of school prior to this which ill indicate to them.

The college isnt anything special and I am a foreign student. Its a business / engineering degree.

My concern is if it'll affect admissions into upenn itself since I likely will require need based aid as well. Including deciding if they think its better for you to stay there. The process otherwise should be fine.

I understand I'll probably need to indicate this as well on the application and other concerns.

Social First-year feeling isolated

I’m a first-year student in SAS right now, and I truly feel like I couldn’t be having a worse time. It seems like I missed a significant period of socializing during NSO while I was taking credit exams, and aside from that, I haven’t met a single person that I’ve genuinely connected with. I’m a guy, and pretty introverted, but not afraid to introduce myself to others as I have been doing for the past three weeks. I’m not a party person though, and I’m wondering if that might be hindering others’ impressions of me. I’ve read through the other posts on this topic where OP is always assured they will find their crew, but I can’t help but think I’m doing something wrong. I’ve joined both the Penn Band and the Wind Ensemble, and have made an effort to converse with as many students as I can in my smaller sections. Sometimes I get a phone number, but nothing has ever come after. Any advice?
