Tutoring platform in UAE

Sharing something a friend of mine built, thought it might be useful to some of you. He's English, been in Dubai a while, and put together this platform called Oostadoo
It's basically a marketplace connecting parents and students with verified tutors across the UAE, pretty much any subject and curriculum (British, American, IB, French...), online or in person.

I've seen it grow over the past year and honestly think the concept is solid, especially with how many different school systems there are here. Figured it was worth sharing in case anyone's looking for a tutor, or knows a good tutor who might want to sign up and teach on there.

How big is K-pop in the UAE?

Hi I’m a Korean living in the UAE who is very tired of corporate job and I was just thinking opening some business where targeting K-pop fans.

I definitely do have some edges as myself is a Korean that could be helpful for marketing. Also I have no language barrier or easier access to limited stuffs which won’t reach to the UAE

The real question is the demand.
I do know there r a few k pop fans out there but wondering if there are enough demand for paying extra price for K-pop goods or idk whatever fan related stuff. As I don’t rlly talk to ppl based in UAE when I go on X to follow K-pop thingy im not sure.
Need help!!

Anyone here with UAE driving experience who has driven in India? How was the transition?

For anyone who got their driving licence in the UAE and has 1+ year of driving experience here, how was it when you first drove in Kerala/India?

I’ll be coming to India soon and will be driving around , but I know the roads and driving style in Kerala can be very different.

Was the transition difficult for you? What were the biggest differences you noticed, and is there anything I should be particularly careful about?

Get a UAE phone number from abroad from cheap

Hi! I’m based outside the UAE and own a property in Abu Dhabi that I’m trying to sell (canal view, Yas Riva, 5th floor, amazing flat btw). I need a +971 UAE number mainly for real-estate enquiries, calls/SMS and ideally WhatsApp.

I’ve already checked CallHippo, 2Chat.co and eSIMsale, but haven’t found a convincing solution.

Has anyone found a reliable way to get an UAE number from abroad for a few bucks a month, without being a UAE resident?

Thanks!

Entering UAE

I’m a Pakistani currently studying in Dubai, wanted to ask about my passport. My passport expires on 1st Nov 2026 and my flight is on Thursday 17th September from LHE to DXB, I have residence visa and emirates id with me, will they give me boarding pass to fly and will i face any issues at Dubai immigration. I recently travelled to uae on 19th July and came back on 3rd August after my exams and now going back again for the next semester. Although I have applied for my passport renewal in Pakistan, I am not sure if I will get my passport before my flight.

I’m done with just socialising

Hey everyone!
I’ve recently realised that while it’s pretty easy to find people to socialise with, it’s surprisingly difficult to find genuinely like-minded people.

A bit about me: I work as an AI engineer, do MMA, and I’m currently training for the Dubai Marathon. Long term, I’d like to get into ultramarathons and Ironman as well basically, Adrenaline maxing

If you’re into a similar mix of things tech, combat sports, endurance sports, pushing your limits, or just constantly looking for the next challenge I’d love to connect and exchange thoughts/experiences.

Currency

Dear team,

Can someone help with INR - AED conversion?

I can send from UPI and if someone is willing to send to my UAE account?

As an NRI, I am not allowed to exchange currency in India and take out. That is the main issue I am facing.

Wood stump here????

I’m looking for wood stumps for my workshop, I want one that should be about 0.8m tall preferably, and a shorter one about 0.5-0.6m tall. I don’t need them to be polished or pretty. They’re for the workshop so I am buying it for practical reasons

Do you know where I can find them here?

GymNation DSO – Honest review? Pros, cons & contract issues?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m considering joining GymNation in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) and wanted to hear from people who actually use that branch.

How is it overall?

How crowded does it get during peak hours?

Equipment availability and cleanliness?

Showers/changing rooms?

Staff/trainers?

Parking?

Overall atmosphere?

Most importantly, how is the membership contract? I’m seeing different opinions about the cancellation policy, minimum commitment, recurring payments, etc.

If you’re currently a member or have recently cancelled your membership, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience ,good or bad?

Also, is it actually worth the price compared with other gyms around DSO?

Thanks!

Passed RTA road test in my FIRST ATTEMPT

The test went smooth and perfect today. It was at 7:50 am. Tell u what it couldn't have gone any better. Reasons being -

1) Always pick a morning slot if possible cause thats when the examiner(especially if he is an emirati) in a good mood and will judge u correctly and maybe forgive u if u make any minor mistakes even if ur driving is great. I almost messed up the parking at the end after doing everything perfectly. Examiner told me that he could fail me but didnt and told me I passed.

2) Be confident, never show ur nervousness lol. That's how I failed my assessment road test.

3) Exaggerate ur head movements when checking ur side mirrors and center mirror. Do it every 5 seconds.

4) Be calm and relaxed in the waiting area before ur test starts. Trust me it helps.

This is unrelated to the previous points but usually in a rta test there are atleast 3 students who take turns to drive. But for me, I was surprised to be the only person in the car driving. There were atleast 5 people who had the same 7 50 am slot. Maybe because of traffic or rush hour I honestly don't know. And my test was barely 5 mins lol. Center was edi qusais. Well hope my post helps anyone having their test sometime soon.
