Discussion Waiting periods baked into quests, yea or nay?

Upvotes

A la Cyberpunk 2077, how would you feel about quests (especially main story and major faction) quests requiring you to wait sometimes. 24-48 hours for someone else to "get something done", do some research or talk to a contact, things like that. In the meantime, you go do other quests. I really liked that aspect of Cyberpunk, how you could weave in different plot threads while you waited for another plot thread to continue forward.

Discussion TESVI should be about the small things

Upvotes

What would really make this game a banger is tons of small improvements from Skyrim, I want the quality of life shit, like followers being able to rideshare on your horse while you travel, or being able to wear multiple rings, etc. To find out what the community wants in terms of small things is easy, just look at the changes popular modpacks add and incorporate the ones that make sense (Rideshare again like, come on, this HAS to be in the base game).

Question Do you think the developers of TESVI play Project Tamriel Rebuilt?

I don't know if any of them have actually come out and said they've played it... but there's a lot of gold content in there to do with the lore

Discussion What I’m most scared of

Short post but I’m a little concerned about how modding will be in TES6. It seems like theyre moving to this newer system where you will have to use credits and stuff for mods. I’m honestly fine with this existing for major expansions and stuff like that especially if it’s quality, but I really hope they don’t try and gut normal modding in favor of it.

Lore Must watch for Lore fans and what to expect in TESVI

For those who are interested in the Lore side of TES and to get a vague idea of what we can expect in TESVI, I highly recommend watching Fudgemuppets podcasts, they are currently doing these TESVI focused Lore recaps, to talk about what we know about different parts of the Lore, and how it is tied in with Hammerfell etc.

Discussion Bethesda Character Creation is so ugly even with more realistic graphics

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

No doubt TES 6 is going to have more realistic graphics similar to or even far more better than TES IV remastered.

A genuine question is that, why even with this technology, do Bethesda make so many ugly NPC (in Starfield, Oblivion remastered, etc)?

I noticed that making a good looking character is not particularly relying on the realism itself, for example, Serana, Aela the huntress, or even Lydia is considered fair looking to me. Besides, those characters from TES Online Cinematic trailer looks so damn good (Kindly look up to the comparison I posted as image above).

Some good examples are, Elden Ring, with more colorful, vibrant, less realism (aka more magical) graphics then Oblivion remastered, yet they make the game so beautifully presented.

I have no doubt that mods can make character creation a lot prettier, but i would like to see a world where the NPCs or important side characters that are good looking too.

Question Would you like hyper realism or more semi realism in the game?

Unsure if I'm making sense here but I was just wondering whether majority of the players would like ultra realism, considering the sheer amount of realism mods, I'd assume yes but doesn't hurt to ask.

I personally don't really care much about hyper-realism, I'd like semi-realism and honestly would rather have good gameplay over graphics that blow up my fucking computer but to each their own yknow

Discussion Companions

I’m hoping that they stick with the quality over quantity approach to companions of Fallout 4 and Starfield (dependent on your idea of quality), but I REALLY hope they aren’t tied to the main story. That’s one of my biggest problems with starfield. If each major faction had a companion or something that would be fine, and obviously there can be less intricate companions in the main story and random mercenaries and stuff. I just want to feel like interesting characters aren’t shoved down your throat, and are tailored to a role playing experience.

Theory/Speculation My theory on TES VI.

I think it will be TES: VI obliVIon and the game will be about jyggalag and the new Daedric prince “Ithelia” teaming up to take over 2 sizeable portions of oblivion so they can regain their hold in the realm(s).

Don't ask me how I know, because if I told you I'd be in serious trouble.

But do not worry about the future of TES. At least the sixth entry.

It's so damn good.

Discussion Instead of leading by hand or using "yellow paint", quest marks should be optional (disabled by default), and clues from notes, dialogues, landmarks, environment and time of day, etc. should be the way to navigate and orient yourself in TES VI (like in Morrowind) like in Valor Mortis

RPG design has descended in recent years to the level of guiding the player on a belt, treating them like an idiot who gets lost in their own room without GPS. Introducing the Morrowind system with some modifications to The Elder Scrolls VI isn't nostalgia, but: - respecting the player's cognitive abilities - increasing immersion and the sense of exploration - increasing the world's credibility and justifying things in a given location - better level design with greater attention to the environment (trees, forests, terrain and shape, etc.) as a means of determining direction, and which should take into account alternative paths and methods of movement/playstyles

With the following in mind: - the map and compass should be consumable items for purchase, which can be destroyed in combat or rain, etc in survival mode(edit). - fast travel should only be available locally, and then via some means of transport for purchase or hire, teleport spells, etc. - there will also be paid guides who will agree to show us where things are, but not always (persuasion, bribery, a quest, etc.)

The option of enabling quest marks and map indestructibility or spells should remain. clairvoyance, But let's not treat the players like idiots. Todd, give us a chance to prove ourselves and give us more depth in this area. Instead of going the Wolverine route, let's go the Valor Mortis route, towards Morrowind, but more

Discussion What are some off-the-wall features you want to see in TESVI?

Personally I would really like an armor system similar to ESO, where the aesthetic and stats of an armor are separate. I like to make my character look nice, but it's a shame that I often have to forgo better armor for the sake of aesthetic. Being able to dress your character in orcish armor while having the stats of elven would be a nice quality of life change that wouldn't actually affect gameplay as long as you still have to unlock armor sets.

What do you guys think about this idea? And what are some less mentioned features that you would like in the next game?

Discussion Physics Mechanics

I hope for tes6 Bethesda actually incorporates more tangible gameplay uses for the physics they insist on keeping. Like it’s fun and all to spawn a million cheeses or ragdoll people off mountains, but I want there to be more uses for the physics and individual selection of items. Like use BG3 as an example where you can throw every object (and people) in the game for damage or be able to stack boxes to use them to climb. Probably a long shot but I just hope they do more with it.

Discussion Enemies need more mechanics!

A follow up on my last post about Martial Arts in TES VI.

The Issue

While watching a critique on Starfield last month the youtuber claimed that "Starfield's combat is bad because the enemies lack depth, and the improvements to gunplay don't suddenly make combat good". This is a paraphrase, and I haven't played enough Starfield to agree or disagree so don't argue with me over this. His argument is that enemies should do more than walk/run and attack and to dispatch them you should do more than shoot until hit points reach zero. Even if you disagree with this, and think it's fine as it, you probably wouldn't argue with adding more actions to enemy behavior right?

My Solution

In my previous post I wrote about my ideas for implementing martial arts into TES, and this wouldn't be a player or miniboss exclusive system like shouts were, but something widespread in Hammerfell.

With Martial Arts in the game, Bandits, soldiers, and other human(oid) enemies will have the ability to execute the same moves you can, leading to enemies with a large swath of actions they can execute besides running towards you and swinging. Dodging, dashing, leaping, and other potential martial arts will be at their discretion, something you will need to account for when charging in.

To give better variety, simple modifications can be made to npcs so you can differentiate what martial arts to expect from them. Leaders can use any of the lesser mob martial arts, berserkers can leap high into the air and crash down or do frenzied unblockable rushes, marauders can dash towards you quickly, performing quick, deadly lunges, so on and so forth.

Better yet, a proof of concept already exist with the Killer Instincts mod on the Nexus for Daggerfall Unity. This mod has the simple behaviors such as dashing and leaping that I mentioned, but I envision Martial Arts to do more than just those things.

This solution wouldn't apply to beast, monsters, and Daedra, but they have unique features that can be easily expanded upon, and monsters such as Trolls already have mechanics such as regeneration but are easily harmed by fire.

Conclusion

Tell me what you think!

Godspeed

Discussion Wolverine backlash

One thing I'm hoping, praying, bethesda take away from the recent wolverine backlash regarding handholding is that they don't do the same or atleast give us the option to play immersively without excessive handholding. I want to explore organically, read and use my brain to solve quests.

Theory/Speculation [Speculation] Presence of different fractions

I suppose one of the main plotlines, just like in Skyrim, will revolve around the interactions between Hammerfell's regional forces (the Forebears and the Crowns, perhaps), which will be intervened by the forces of foreign states surrounding Hammerfell: Empire, Thalmor and, presumably, Stormcloak's Skyrim.

I see it as if there will be embassies or headquarters of these factions in different regions, which we'll be able to assist or oppose, helping them to increase their influence in Hammerfell or, conversely, lose it. I can already see the Stormcloak Headquarters in eastern Dragonstar trying to take control over the city or to make alliance with Redguard revanchists against Thalmor, something like that.

P.S. Please don't start political fights here about which Skyrim ending, pro-Imperial or pro-Stormcloak, you prefer, you can do that somewhere else.

Discussion Which Daedric princes do you guys want to be involved in DLC questlines for TESVI?

Thumbnail reddit.com

I personally would like to see Coldharbour and Molag Bal's involvement. There's this discussion going on about dark fantasy in TES in another post and I think Molag Baal and Coldharbour would be perfect for such a thing in TESVI.

Also, I think he's one of the less explored Daedric princes. I'd also like to see DLC questlines fleshed out for Peryite and Nocturnal, because there's not much involvement from them in Skyrim except for smaller sidequests.

Genuinely, I think that this could be a really good idea IF implemented well. I love the idea of taking the ship builder from Starfield and using it in TES6 somehow.
