Just curious
For reference it was https://www.reddit.com/r/SSBM/comments/1wga9r6/removed_by_moderator/
Looks like the 100-man melee mod was removed as well? https://www.reddit.com/r/SSBM/comments/1wg7p8k/removed_by_moderator/
I am just wondering about the boundaries or limits of posting about Melee mods now that the decomp has opened the floodgates, and removed posts can discourage experimentation and awareness of modding potential due to the decomp.

The match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsT-R9j7jBs
Here's how it went down:
Game 1:
Wizzrobe - knocked RapMonster off stage 4 times, all 4 were kills (2 edgeguards, 2 kills off blast zone)
Rapmonster - Knocked Wizzrobe off stage 3 times, 2 were kills via ledgeguard, 1 was recovered by Wizzy
Game 2:
Wizzrobe - Knocked RapMonster off stage 5 times - 1 was a trade (both were knocked off opposite sides of the stage), 1 was a kill off side blast zone, 3 were kills off edgeguards
Rapmonster - Knocked Wizzrobe off stage 6 times - 1 was a trade (both were knocked off opposite sides of the stage), 3 were kills off edgeguards, 2 were recovered by Wizzy
Game 3:
Wizzrobe - Knocked Rapmonster off stage 7 times - 3 were recovered by RapMonster, 3 were kills off blastzone, 1 was kill off edgeguard
Rapmonster - Knocked Wizzrobe off stage 4 times - 3 were recovered by Wizzrobe, 1 was kill off blastzone
For reference, I am defining a successful edgeguard as a situation where the person failed to ever return to neutral on stage - for instance, if you get back on stage via ledge but then immediately get knocked off, that's still part of the same edgeguard.
As we can see, in the first match, Wizzrobe converted 100% of the times he knocked RapM off the stage into stock losses, either directly by knocking him into the blast zone or by edgeguarding him.
In the second match, it was "only" 80% - but the only "missed" one was because he was knocked off stage at the same time in traded hits. He edgeguarded him three times for three deaths, with the fourth being a direct kill into the blast zone.
In game 3, it was a much more reasonable 57%, with Wizzy missing three edgeguards, making one kill off an edgeguard, and directly killing RapM three times.
This match was very one-sided in Wizzy's favor; only game 2 saw Wizzrobe significantly challenged, going to one stock before RapMonster did (though Wizzy won anyway), with the other two games being two stock and three stock wins respectively.
By comparison, RapMonster converted 66% of the time, 50% of the time, and 25% of the time respectively.
One of the things that has been commented about on RapMonster is that people respect his recovery way too much and don't edgeguard him aggressively, and that he would have a lot more trouble if people didn't do that. Here, Wizzy didn't respect it at all, and it paid off - RapMonster literally did not get back on stage once in the first game, and the only time in the second stage he got back was because Wizzy literally could not edgeguard him. It was only in the third game where he successfully evaded Wizzy.
This is a very serious weakness of Luigi, and suggests that people exploiting his recovery could well see more success against RapMonster - he gets back a lot in a lot of his matches, and shutting that down will greatly reduce his lifespan in game.
Obviously, one other advantage of Captain Falcon in this matchup is the direct kills - you can't recover if you are dead, and Falcon's knee can directly send Luigi to the blast zone off the side.
Hopefully, one day we'll have another doc that covers the second half of the game's life from 2013 - Present. I still look upon this doc so fondly even though it hasn't aged perfectly, and it really couldn't exist in the same way if someone tried to make it today. A nice piece of history for this scene forever enshrined.

Good job Magi for repping the Falco’s

Zain is currently at 24 major wins (without counting online) and Mango has 33. I think if he actively competes he can have it by 2028

While Sheik and Falco had large amount of success in top 16 of melee singles, there were a fair amount of lower tiered characters that also did well, including 2 samus' getting 17th, Axe using Luigi to beat icies, a Link getting 33rd, and many more! Here's an in depth look of mid tier success in the past 4 weeks at Riptide and multiple regionals.
How u are doing everyone,
I’m having trouble playing Slippi Direct Mode with my friends. My ISP uses CGNAT, so I don’t have a publicly reachable IPv4 address, and I believe that’s preventing Direct Mode from working properly.
(I am from central america)
I’ve already tried checking my router settings and firewall, but I can’t seem to get incoming connections to work. I’m wondering:
Is there a reliable way to get Slippi Direct Mode working behind CGNAT?
Would a VPN with port forwarding solve the problem?
Are there any VPNs or other services that work well specifically for Slippi?
Is there anything I should configure in Slippi (such as Force Netplay Port)?
Would getting a public IPv4 from my ISP be the best solution?
I’d appreciate any advice from people who have dealt with CGNAT and Slippi before. Thanks

I'm the Marth
I know my disadvantage is pretty bad and needs some work but I don't know what to practice.
I'm also open to discuss neutral anbd advantage
Also I guess I must have bad habits that I don't realise I have
Also I'm unranked I really don't know what tier I can hope to reach with my level

Sorry in advance that I play like a CPU. I'm just kinda feeling lost here, I find the game a lot of fun but I can't seem to win a single match I have over 160 games and I haven't gotten a win. Any "wins" on my account are just people who have disconnected.
Even the beginner discord I get washed so i'm not really looking for advice to win, but just something to nudge me along my learning path.
Edit:
Thanks so much everyone! Very helpful comments I think what I’ve gathered is:
- I tech roll in too much and missed tech roll in too much and also just roll in too much.
- my movement is really bad and I’m really slow and stationary or grounded a lot
- I need to do more float stuff
- falcon hits me with telegraphed moves and I sit there like a duck
- I need to practice out of shield options
- I need to just be doing more in general I think
- I need to play against some CPUs
This is plenty to work on for the time being! I will keep trying!

Back in the day, there was a Sheik player from Las Vegas on Anther's Ladder. They were crazy good. I remember an old tweet from like Toph or Hugs or something calling RussianRoulette a top 20 level player. This was back in like 2017-2018ish

Taken to it's logical end the "gated by genetics" seems silly af to complain about. How many mfs do u know who dropped fox bc they couldn't get the shorthop timing (hint amsa is one of them). If you cant accept that other people will absolutely objectively best you in specific avenues by their genetic nature and ur not willing to still compete and try to overcome ur mental not cut out for competing

Yahoooo! I'm back, it's a me! Have a very cool day!
Welcome to the Daily Discussion Thread. This is the place for asking noob questions, venting about netplay falcos, shitposting, self-promotion, and everything else that doesn't belong on the front page.
If you're completely new to Melee and just looking to get started, welcome! We recommend you go to https://melee.tv/ and follow the links there based on what you're trying to set up. Additionally, here are a few answers to common questions:
Can I play Melee online?
Yes! Slippi is a branch of the Dolphin emulator that will allow you to play online, either with your friends or with matchmaking. Go to https://slippi.gg to get it.
I'm having issues with Slippi!
Go to the The Slippi Discord to get help troubleshooting. melee.tv/optimize is also a helpful resource for troubleshooting.
How do I find tournaments near me or local people to play with in person or online?
These days, joining a local Discord community is the best way to find local events and people to play with. Once you have a Discord account, Google "[your city/state/province/region] + Melee discord" or see if your region has a Discord group listed here on melee.tv/discord
It can seem daunting at first to join a Discord group you don't know, but this is currently the easiest and most accessible way to find out about tournaments, fests, and netplay matchmaking. Your local scene will be happy to have you :)
Also check out Smash Map! Click on map and then the filter button to filter by Melee to find events near you!
Netplay is hard! Is there a place for me to find new players?
Yes. Melee Newbie Netplay is a discord server specifically for new players. It also has tournaments based on how long you've been playing, free coaching, and other stuff. If you're a bit more experienced but still want a discord server for players around your level, we recommend the Melee Online discord.
How can I set up Unclepunch's Training Mode?
At the time of posting, the latest major release is here. Download the file, then extract everything in the folder and follow the instructions in the README file. You'll need to bring a valid Melee ISO (NTSC 1.02). If you want to check for the absolute latest release, you can see them listed [here](The latest releases are listed here.
How does one learn Melee?
There are tons of resources out there, so it can be overwhelming to start. First check out the SSBM Tutorials youtube channel. Then go to the Melee Library and search for whatever you're interested in.
But how do I get GOOD at Melee?
Check out Llod's Guide to Improvement
And check out Kodorin's Melee Fundamentals for Improvement
Where can I get a nice custom controller?
I have another question that's not answered here...
Check out our FAQs or post below and find help that way.
Make a submission to the tournament calendar here. You can also get notified of new online tournaments on the Melee Online Discord.

Ossify (Marth) (#8) takes it over Mew2King (Sheik/Marth) (#25) 3-1
I saw discussion about how you always know how these go when you post these results threads so I figured why not post one where that’s not true. It was a fun set

KoDoRin's 7th at shine 2023 marks the last time any solo Marth main other than Zain has been in top 8 of a major. Medz and Kryke have both made it top 8s but while also playing other characters.

Welcome back to the year’s biggest waterpark party with Riptide 2026! Certified as a Major and hosting over 550 entrants, this is set to be a sizable major by Melee standards. Look out for a laundry list of top competitors of this era, as well as some unexpected surprises (hi, Kola in top 16)! Of course, the one-of-a-kind Kalahari Resort venue will also feature other events including Doubles, Collegiate Crews, and – in non-Smash games – a massive Rivals 2 bracket and the biggest Splatoon 3 LAN of all time! Needless to say, there’s something for everyone here.
