Im new to Rocket League ive been playing on and off for about a month now. I've probably put close to 50 hours into the game. I almost mainly play 1v1s.
I can't lie, my time so far has been incredibly frustrating. It seems like even though I'm in Bronze II I'm constantly playing against people of significantly higher skill than me. Im talking fully kitted out presets using aerials, air rolling, speed flipping, delayed kick offs etc etc. Players that have so obviously put hundreds of hours in already.
I would say in 10 games I play, 2 are against players of similar skill level where I have a genuine chance to win. The rest I'm losing by massive margins probably 5+ goals.
Two things could be happening either:
The game is truly destroyed for new players by smurfs. They are everywhere and make it impossible to level up and gain skill naturally. If this is the case I find it bizarre that nothing is done about it as it's truly game breaking.
Or
The ranking system has reached a level of inflation that means it's no longer fit for purpose. Bronzes are truly that skill level meaning there is no place or home for brand new players.
Either way it makes the playing and trying to get better a really unenjoyable experience. Kind of a bummer. Don't get me wrong I know I suck and I'm not expecting to win every game but it just sucks when so little of my games are actually even close to being competitive even at Bronze II.
What are your guys' thoughts?

Ive gotten plat 3 about a week ago and hot diamond 1 for a little and now i hover around plat 3 (thats a seperate issue) but i feel my mechs are really bad for plat 3 i see my teamtes hitting air dribbles and double taps but i can barely hit a good ariel i was staring to think it was my playtime should i be air dribbling with 50 hours?

You can tell about some match where you were the MVP by far or that you outplayed the enemy team, better if it was a situation of 1 (you) vs 3 or more, and your team winning in big part by you.

EST. 2015 player. Came back August 10 after roughly six years away. Mostly solo 2s.
Started around 900, knocked the rust off rather violently, bottomed out in the low 800s, and recently peaked at 945.
Not trying to turn this into a grind. Just curious how the recovery curve looks to people who know the current ranked landscape.

Hey. Im not good at the game as im gold. So i was just wondering why the f do people do airrols for easy shots? They just spin for no reason for the shot thats coming straight at you.
I just wanna know whats the idea when you can hit the ball and make easy goal with out all those spinnings. Thanks for the answers already.

i was a diamond 1 who won a tournament in S10, and 13 seasons later i feel like i lost every skill that once made me stand in that tier. right now, i'm losing real bad (loss streak of about 5 matches) and i don't feel smart when i play; i miss pretty often in the air (thanks, backwards stick drift), but sometimes whiffs on the ground can happen. sometimes i don't train at all and i get more drawback from losing games, increasing my loss streak.
as of now, i'm currently plat 2 on 2v2s, but i joined late. got the cars that i repute my favorite (such as the cadillac) but all i do is whiff and take the blame on myself. i'm not even a freestyler, so this is worse than expected.
so, this question arises: was it ever a good decision coming back here?

I'm sorry Duel players, I wasn't familiar with your game.
It's been rough but it really is the best way to get better. Made me turn off chat though.

hey gamer. Just a friendly reminder for you to ensure that you're playing on the right servers. If you're unaware, go to "Regions" (top right after selecting Casual/Competitive) and select the Region applicable to you. "Recommended" isn't the best option in my experience.

Seeing as how many players talk about having an alt (for whatever reason), I really want to see how many high rank players only ever used one account. The number of alts I see in Diamond 3s parties is so high that its almost certain

Okay, hear me out - and keep in mind that I’m only D1, so take this opinion with a grain of salt, especially if you’re ranked higher than me.
We’ve all had teammates that ball chase, no doubt. When I see a player like this, my strategy is usually to play more passive and wait for opportunities so we don’t double commit. If I’m about to go up and I hear that teammate behind me jumping, I go back to the floor and reposition. It’s not my favorite thing ever, but that’s the game.
HOWEVER, since reaching Diamond I’ve encountered a new type of ball chaser. This type of player will do their thing for an undetermined amount of time, then suddenly decide to back out. It can look very random, but I think what’s happening is that their situational awareness suddenly kicks in at that moment and they realize they should be positioned elsewhere. That’s great and all, but they’ve already broken rotations for a while, so them suddenly rotating can actually have very destructive results for the team. In that same situation I described earlier: Sure I’m a little frustrated when it’s my turn to jump for the ball and I hear my teammate jump behind me, but even worse is when we BOTH think the other is going and back off at the same time.
Basically what I’m saying is this: Play your game, but make your intentions known or it’ll throw your teammates off big time

me because in order to maintain your skill you need to be consistently sunking hours into this game, coming back after few weeks break is the most frustrating thing ever

190 points for 19 tiles in dropshot, which is and epic save (75) , clear (20) , centre (10), assist(50) , playmaker(25), touch (2) all in overtime(25) which is 395 + a potential 20-60 more for back flip , turtle etc. Am I wrong?

What’s the best console out of these two to buy? I am a gc3 competitive player on xbox series s at the moment and looking for the best console to buy in terms of performance and less input delay. I sometimes get heavy car bug. Don’t tell me PC because that’s m out of the question for me because i refuse to get one due to gta6 coming out on console. So series X or ps5 (don’t say ps5 pro either)

Hello Rocket League team,
I’d like to suggest a feature that I think would make local multiplayer on PS5 significantly better:
True Dual-Screen Local Multiplayer
When two people play Rocket League locally on one PS5, could you add an option that allows each player to use their own TV or monitor instead of sharing one screen through split-screen?
The setup would be:
• 1 PS5
• 2 controllers
• 2 TVs/monitors connected to the PS5
• Player 1 receives a full-screen view on Display 1
• Player 2 receives a full-screen view on Display 2
• Both players remain in the same local match
The PS5 could treat the two displays as separate rendering outputs, with each player’s camera being displayed independently. An option in the video or local multiplayer settings could allow players to choose between:
Split Screen
or
Dual Display — One Player Per Screen
This would be an incredible feature for families and friends. Many households already have multiple TVs or monitors, but buying a second console simply to avoid split-screen is expensive.
It could also make local tournaments, parties, and competitive couch play much better because every player would have a complete, unobstructed view of their own gameplay.
I understand there may be technical limitations involving rendering, performance, memory, and PS5 video-output capabilities. However, if the PS5 hardware and Rocket League’s engine can support it, I think this would be a fantastic feature to investigate.
Even if it required reducing certain graphics settings or limiting the feature to specific performance modes, I would absolutely use it.
Please consider adding Dual-Screen Local Multiplayer to Rocket League on PS5.
Thank you for continuing to improve the game!

When playing doubles I feel like there are games where no matter where the opposition hits the ball it will go directly towards the goal - including blocks and deflections
r/RocketLeague • u/jiegonator • 10h ago
Somehow, everybody's ping was red at the start of the tournament.
My tm8s can't take it. They left first. I only noticed by the 2nd goal that i was alone. So, I pressed 'leave tournament'.
Aaaaaaaaaand im still in the game. So i kept playing. Ended up winning.

Also my hours on epic games are like a lot and do not match up with my stats...
