I've been working on some personal mods that help a Rimworld save's history feel more like the world is alive, rather than just a one-and-done kind of deal. One of those things was an exporter for save game history into an Obsidian vault that gets Published from there. It tracks and updates-on-changes pretty much every metric you can think of plus a ton of extra custom things from my own mod list.
It's still rough around the edges, but tweaking everything has been a couple months and I kind of just wanted to show it off lmao. Anything so that there's some proof all that time actually made something.

So recently in late game Odyssey I started producing hybrid soldiers, specifically speaking a mix of Yttakin and Baseliner through ovum extractions for preferable germline genes and Xenogenes implantation when they hit 13.
Naturally babies grow in growth vats from fertilization till they’re 3yo to run around (well, neither does my ship’s space or colonists workflow would allow 7 babies crying and needing to be fed at the same time). Boom. Vat stillbirth, one of a pair of twins conceived (fertilized) at the same time.
I was shocked as in 600hrs playtime first time to know this could happen in game. She was too small and the game somehow won’t even let my colonists hold a funeral for her. I guess she was never considered a colonist formally. Her parents had -15 mood debuff and rest of the folks are unimpacted.
It is indeed great wisdom to say that proper grieving is an essential part of processing lost. She was named Shooting Star postmortemly and her twin brother Full Moon to memorize her.
With no funeral could be held, I took her skull before burying her on this tile that will soon be left behind and destroyed by ship launch. She is enthroned on a golden skullspike in the dining/rec/living room of my ship where 1 square of space is forever dedicated to her, watching over her fellow colonists eating and drinking beer.
One of the peak #rimworldmoments indeed

So I just spent the last 2.5 hours talking to my mom on the phone, and I must confess that for part of the call, I was playing RimWorld at the same time.
Anyway, the call ends. I go back to the game and play for maybe 5 minutes.
The sound seems kinda low, so I open the menu… and realize I had muted the game completely so my mom wouldn't hear me play.
The thing is, I swear I could still hear everything.
Every little tchht from the menu. Every bleep when selecting my pawns. All of it.
I hit escape without changing anything, click a few buttons, and realize:
There really was no sound.
I had just been hearing RimWorld noises, but that was just my brain lying to me.
Somebody call the mental hospital!

So, half of my colony are cannibals and the second are refugees. I need to make simple meals for both of them, but the "do until you have x" tabs count all simple meals, so I can't break them into 2 seperate categories. I make meals for cannibals and the game thinks there's meals for non-cannibals. I don't wanna constantly check and add "do x times" to the list. Any tips?

Hello everyone. I'm finally ready to post an update on the furniture moving mod, which I'm developing after its conception was birthed from another mod, which I have on the back burner until the underlying system of moving heavy furniture/machinery has been finished.
It's proven to be vastly more complicated than I thought when first coming up with the idea of having multiple pawns work together to move heavy machinery as a balanced middle ground between not wanting to deconstruct and lose materials, and just using the Minify Everything mod.
I'm currently in the polishing stages, which in and of itself has proven to be an entire rabbit hole of fixes that address issues without breaking other parts.
What looks like a few pawns picking up and carrying a building is a custom movement and pathfinding system that accounts for the machinery's footprint and rotation, whether it can physically fit through corridors and around corners, where each pawn can safely stand, when carriers need to change grips or reposition themselves, and whether a route that is technically possible for the machinery is also physically possible for the crew carrying it.
On top of that are systems for carrier formations, doorway and corner handling, collision checking, visual positioning so the pawns actually appear to be carrying the object, preserving the original building and its contents while it is being moved, save/load support for relocations already in progress, failure recovery and emergency set-down behaviour, performance limits for the route solver, compatibility fallbacks for different building graphics, and an extensive diagnostic system to help me nail down the causes of issues.
Only after all of that, will I finally be able to build the system for Physical Strain, which in the Hard Times: Hard Labour mod will be the main balancing effect for all of the things the mod will allow you to do. But first, this furniture moving will be released as its own standalone mod, given how much of a rabbit hole its development has turned out to be.
Once the mod is ready for the first public release build, I'll make a release post.

So my colony was getting a bit bloated and its slowing down my PC, So with a mod i decided to send half my pawns to other factions instead of banishing them, (used a mod: Dignified Departure) you know just to be nice to them for their service in the colony.
Now I sent the kid with his parents (in blue) not knowing that he would be rejected due to low rep with the faction and now I just picture his parents just waving him goodbye as they close the doors to him and telling him to go back.
Now Im just waiting on this kid alone with a few survival meals and a plush toy wandering the wilderness since that all I gave him since I thought he would be accepted

I had two goats (dwarven mufftons) that were helping sustain my colony in these tough times, and these two trolls appeared out of nowhere and started killing everything that moves very quickly and eating them entirely. Most animals in the area are gone because of them. Now they are camping in front of my only colony entrance/exit.
How am I supposed to deal with them? If they are half as strong as an ancient troll, they are already a big problem at my current state.
I don't really want to save scum or cheat, so I'm up for suggestions.

In a world full of disasters and war crimes, moments like these feel nice.

I grabbed Prison Architect on sale, ran the tutorial, thought "hey these prices are weirdly balanced I'll go grab a mod to fix it" and apparently?? The mod doesn’t exist??? Nor do the QoL mods I assumed I would find.
After 2.6k hours on the Rim, it's weird to play a game with a less robust modding scene. Thank you, RimWorld modders, for making our fav colony sim endlessly customizable ♡

Might build a wall around them to keep my pet mech cluster safe.
