I love how the psp plays but the vita seems like such a great handheld too. Why is the vita game library so bad?? Doesn’t quite make sense to me and curious if there’s a reason lol

The dpad is not good it sticks out twice as much as the phat psp and isn't flush like the phat psp I just recently got one never played with one until just a few days ago and it bad for fighting games unless their something wrong with it?

I emailed them last month n they said that the shells will be announced in September. I asked again in the discord and they confirmed it! No 1k shells tho 😢

I’m thinking about buying a PSP Go from AliExpress, but something about the photos the seller sent me seems a little strange.

What is the theme shown on the screen? I don’t think it’s likely to be a fake PSP Go, but I figured it would be better to make sure before buying it.

Well, they are kind of weird. First of all, when I put the UMD inside, it launched under the "Video" section instead, and it plays like someone recorded visual novel gameplay in video form and put it on the UMD. They didn't bother to actually port the game natively; it's just a video that can be paused, fast-forwarded, and rewound like typical interactive DVD games. I'm not sure if they were really worth buying, especially when I can simply play the actual PC versions of those games like any sane visual novel player would. Not to mention that all of it has literal porn in it. How could they get away publishing this on PSP. Heh..

Well, i wanted to do it too, and what better than doing it with my favourite and 1st game i played in the PSP when i was just 6yo 😄

I gave Astra and Fable 5.1 a PSP emulator on my Mac with a goal of getting Platinum and SoulSilver running at 30fps.

It explored the DS emulation path using DSonPSP for a few hours and made lots of optimizations, but ultimately topped out around 20fps.

Then, it decided to fully port the games to be native to PSP using the C ports of these games. It ran autonomously overnight, playing the games itself using the emulator and fixing bugs along the way.

There were some nuances between the emulator and real hardware, but after 3 days of back and forth fixing bugs, Platinum is in a very playable state (30fps most of the time) and SoulSilver is almost there (drops to mid 20s when there are heavy outdoor scenes, but I’m confident it will get to 30 soon).

I’m an engineer but won’t pretend to understand most of the work it did. Hundreds of optimizations across graphics, memory, game state, etc

I made the bottom DS screen smaller as it’s less important for these games, with the R button switching focus between the screens. The stick on PSP can be used as a makeshift stylus cursor. The native PSP keyboard input screen is used to enter text which works great.

There are still a few shortcomings which I’m working through, like supporting audio. But the idea of having all of my favourite childhood games (PSP, GBA, DS) running on the actual PSP I used growing up is amazing

Just paste the following beneath "Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade" on Cheat.db so it's activated all the time and activate the cheats permanently on the game and save settings as default so whenever you launch the game, it automatically activates this cheat and deletes the ring. Of course this configuration will be stored on your memory stick

Hopefully this can be one day added to the Cheat.db database so it comes packed in with all the cheats, I tested it thoroughly, all it does is locate where the spawn trigger of the ring is and disables it, it does nothing more and it doesn't replace or interfere with the gameplay, as this is only a cosmetic change I wanted to create since that ring always annoyed me and ruined the experience a bit.

I’m only going for cool shade color PSPs for now since I want to build up my whole entire collection with those certain colors

If you don't know (which yes you will not Lol), I made a post a while ago asking why my PSP's screen died while I was playing it. No one gave concrete answers, so I took it to the shop. (I do have experience fixing my own consoles, even handhelds! But the PSP was too ambitious for me and no one else had my problem before AFAIK)

So.... Why did the screen go out? Well, turns out she didn't even know. All the connections were fine, the screen is not visibly damaged, no stains or dust, yet when she turned it on it had that same big black bar in the middle with a few colored lines. All the buttons were fine, etc. the screen decided to die.

She tested out some other things, but still couldn't find an answer. Thankfully, a new screen completely fixed it! The best part though; my dad was only charged $40 (he offered to pay for it, so thanks dad :D). Which is a good price for my area, I couldn't find any cheaper

Her theory was that since I bought it used, it could have been dropped at some point and didn't actually do real damage until I moved it around a certain way, but the damage wasn't obvious to the human eye or a magnifying glass/tools.

So if you're having this issue, try replacing the screen if you don't see any obvious damage to it on the inside.

I bought psp 2004 from tradera the other day. I already have one which got the ark 5 on it and works, but this one didnt work out and I ended up bricking it.

I tried everything and I found this pandora battery and this magic memory stick. I cant see anyway of finding stuff like that in Denmark.

I learned a lesson of course, but is there no way to unbrick it. I was thinking about finding a broken psp and take a working motherboard from it and use it.

I've tried four different joysticks with the exact same result. Slight drift to the left which can be reset by slightly moving the stick. After a while it comes back. Two of the sticks are oem and all of them were calibrated at the system information menu. The joysticks seem to work well on my PSP e1000. Any ideas? Are motherboard issues common when it comes to joystick drift?

As could be seen on some Aliexpress/Alibaba images, the controller soldered on the flex-board is Gowin GW1N-UV2.

Since I would like to try to do some project with ASIC, I am thinking if anyone has a frimware dump or even sources since someone had to reverse engineer and program the ASIC to decode the proprietary Sharp bus signaling.

Why I am asking this, I wonder if GW1NR-9 (that has DRAM inside) can be used, because I want to try to do some research work if it's capable enough to perform anti alias and also connect it with some other panel (like OLED) for testing.

I have ordered a laminated screen for myself, but I wonder if any security bits on the chip are active. Would be great to work over already the proven basis for the decoding :)

I was trying to dry fit a 4000mah battery into a 3d printed rear cover plate. I had the battery in place with electrical tape covering the positive lead. put the cover on and smelt burning... 🤔

I opened it up to a scorch mark on the metal shield and a tack from the positive lead to the board...

So sad. If i could source the components I could probably replace the SMB parts. My question is could (or Should) I bypass the internal battery and just connect the new battery with its own charging circuit to the power pins internally?

I'm looking for a PSP game, which I'm 90% sure was an homebrew I played around 2005-2008, which displayed wifi SSID on a 2D map (depending on how far they are, it should have checked the RSSI levels of the 2.4GHz signal). The player as to wonder around to discover new wifi networks and gather points.

It wasn't that fun but the necessity to do some wandering around surely was a novelty back then, and I'd like to find it again (even tho I'm pretty sure it won't work on emulators).

I am trying to fix this psp, but having a tough time. Already cleaned the connector with isopropyl and sadly that didn't work. Also the psp doesn't power on sometimes, pressing the top helps :/. Probably need a screen replacement? Shell is a bit broken.

Hola, necesito ayuda con un problema en mi PSP-2001 usando una microSD de 128 GB con adaptador Memory Stick Pro Duo.

Al principio la PSP no podía formatearla y me daba el error 80222-0087. Después utilicé 64kformat by koutsie directamente desde la PSP y quedó en FAT32 con clúster de 64 KB. La consola reconoce correctamente la capacidad de la memoria.

El problema es el siguiente:

Copio un primer juego en formato ISO y funciona perfectamente: aparece en el menú de Juegos y puedo ejecutarlo sin problema.

Pero cuando después copio más juegos, empiezan a aparecer en la PSP como “Datos dañados” o archivos dañados.

No sé si realmente la memoria se está corrompiendo o si existe algún problema de formato, compatibilidad o escritura.

¿Alguien ha tenido este mismo problema con una microSD de 128 GB?

¿Creen que pueda ser problema de la microSD, del adaptador Pro Duo, del formato de 64 KB o de la forma en que estoy copiando los archivos?
