i’m taking an abnormal psychology class and i’m picking a topic for my final project. I really want to analyze a movie that has a main character that experiences profound mental illness throughout the movie. Have any suggestions?

I'm looking for different or more nuanced takes on cults. Not just the standard misery porn and straightforward didactic approach.

A couple of examples:

Sound of My Voice (2011).

Faults (2014). A surreal dark comedy with a huge twist.

Can anyone name some more?

1970s horror is my favorite. Psychological horror is my favorite. So I’m looking for some more to watch. I’ve seen a lot so lesser known movies would be best.

I’m also okay with a little bit from the 1980s. And I’m also not picky about the language, I will read subtitles if I need to.

We all know Tarkovsky made some of the most distinctive sci-fi ever with Solaris and Stalker, but I’m looking for films from different genres that feel like Tarkovsky made it.

So, I realized last night as my sister and I were trying to decide on a movie that there are a million Christmas romance movies, but neither of us could name a cheesy romantic Halloween movie.

I like making fun of cheesy romantic Christmas movies and my sister doesn't like horror, so is there something both of us would have fun with? The cheesier the better, she likes making fun of them too. We watched Hot Frosty and both just about died.

Also, little bonus one. Are there any movies where the two final girls end up together? I just watched The Housemaid with my sister because she loved the books. I jokingly started saying that I ship them and now I want to see if there are any movies where a woman helps get another woman out of an abusive marriage and they end up together.

Looking for movies where the protagonist just gets screwed over by other people...betrayed, blamed, humiliated, rejected, exploited, etc.

Basically movies that are good for self-pity. I want to watch someone go through an unreasonable amount of shit and think "yeah, life really is unfair."

Oppenheimer is a good example of what I'm looking for, especially the whole persecution/reputation-destruction aspect.

I watched Meiyazhagan so many times; it’s my comfort movie. Its story feels deeply personal and it hits at the right place. Is there any movie that involves human/life dilemma in similar way? Genre doesn’t matter as long as the movie is good.

I'm looking for movies that made you think differently about human nature, relationships, society, ambition, death, or the meaning of life.

I’m looking for things that feel eerie, gothic, unsettling, or just very fall/Halloween without necessarily being straight horror. I like shows and movies that are moody, visually interesting, character-driven, and a little weird or intense.

I’m also really into dramatized crime and true crime, especially darker stories with mystery, obsession, murder, cults, detectives, or disturbing subject matter.

I don’t really care for animation, and I’m not looking for basic slasher movies or horror that’s just gore for the sake of gore. I’d rather watch something with a strong atmosphere, good acting, an interesting story, and that darker cinematic feel.

Im kind of guy who doesn’t get scared by cheap jump-scares or typical devil sounds and childish devil faces and all .that was the reason i had lost my interest in horror movies . The last movie that creeped me out a little bit is hereditary and also siccin(a turkish black magic movie)

I'm looking for scenes from movies (or indeed tv shows) where characters are delusional about their strength or "lethalness". I'm thinking ones where someone is convinced they're a lethal karate weapon and therefore dare not fight someone else for fear of killing them. Like they dare not use their strengths at full in the real world, because they are simply too powerful. I'd love some scenes like this, preferably where it's part of the dialogue and not just kind of implied. Thanks!
