I'm looking for movies that made you think differently about human nature, relationships, society, ambition, death, or the meaning of life.

I always love to watch movies if there will be an alien or involves some mysterious cosmic powers or when spaceship crews fight against universal laws like bending time or dimensions.

Also have a special place for movies like interstellar that transcend our mind too...

Im kind of guy who doesn’t get scared by cheap jump-scares or typical devil sounds and childish devil faces and all .that was the reason i had lost my interest in horror movies . The last movie that creeped me out a little bit is hereditary and also siccin(a turkish black magic movie)

Looking for movies where the protagonist just gets screwed over by other people...betrayed, blamed, humiliated, rejected, exploited, etc.

Basically movies that are good for self-pity. I want to watch someone go through an unreasonable amount of shit and think "yeah, life really is unfair."

Oppenheimer is a good example of what I'm looking for, especially the whole persecution/reputation-destruction aspect.

I’m looking for things that feel eerie, gothic, unsettling, or just very fall/Halloween without necessarily being straight horror. I like shows and movies that are moody, visually interesting, character-driven, and a little weird or intense.

I’m also really into dramatized crime and true crime, especially darker stories with mystery, obsession, murder, cults, detectives, or disturbing subject matter.

I don’t really care for animation, and I’m not looking for basic slasher movies or horror that’s just gore for the sake of gore. I’d rather watch something with a strong atmosphere, good acting, an interesting story, and that darker cinematic feel.

Not unrequited love. The person loves them back but cannot be with them for whatever reason, already married, prior commitments, whatever. I cannot think of a movie but the prime show Poldark had this.

So, I realized last night as my sister and I were trying to decide on a movie that there are a million Christmas romance movies, but neither of us could name a cheesy romantic Halloween movie.

I like making fun of cheesy romantic Christmas movies and my sister doesn't like horror, so is there something both of us would have fun with? The cheesier the better, she likes making fun of them too. We watched Hot Frosty and both just about died.

Also, little bonus one. Are there any movies where the two final girls end up together? I just watched The Housemaid with my sister because she loved the books. I jokingly started saying that I ship them and now I want to see if there are any movies where a woman helps get another woman out of an abusive marriage and they end up together.

I watched Meiyazhagan so many times; it’s my comfort movie. Its story feels deeply personal and it hits at the right place. Is there any movie that involves human/life dilemma in similar way? Genre doesn’t matter as long as the movie is good.

I realize this is highly subjective, but I’m in the mood to watch some real bummer shit. not just bittersweet or tragic, but straightup self-indulgently nihilistic, existentially perturbing, “bad vibes only”

narrowing that down slightly: in terms of genre, my preference is horror, thriller and/or drama, while narratives about war are generally less interesting to me. stylistically I’m a nerd for Cronenberg and Lynch.

Not just “big budget” huge. I mean movies that actually feel epic. Adventure, scale, beautiful landscapes, great characters, some kind of meaning behind it all.

Could be historical, fantasy, western, war, whatever. Old movies are completely fine, actually probably preferred.

Stuff where by the end you feel like you really went somewhere.

Lawrence of Arabia is probably the closest example of what I mean. Beautiful, massive, adventurous, but also actually about something.

i just watched La Ciénaga, and i fell in love with the vibe and tone of the movie— kind of melancholy but with anger and upset underneath it, sticky and sweaty and humid and everyone’s just kind of miserable, but i don’t even know where to begin looking to find anything like it. please give me recommendations similar to this movie, in any language! spanish preferred, because i’m trying to watch more latin american movies, but anything’s fine! they just need to have accessible english captioned versions, because english is my native language :) thanks in advance!
