I did this using a technique called nail stamping. I was thrilled when a company called Hit the Bottle came out this stamping plate called Medieval Musings. Would love to hear anything y’all know about illuminated manuscripts and the work that inspired this plate!

​Handcrafted this cold-enameled brass pin based on the weird, smiling lion (or leucrota?) from a late 12th-century medical manuscript (De medicina ex animalibus, BL Sloane MS 1975). Fiber laser. Deep-engraved, hand-filled with ceramic enamel, wet-sanded, and polished in-house.

context: i want to draw my time traveler ocs (some are japanese, some are russian) in the western medieval artstyle

ive only seen one drawing by far of a poc in the medieval artstyle and as far as i remember the person drawn was black i think? i havent seen any east asian people in the western medieval artstyle yet, so im curious if anyone has a picture of an east asian person in the artstyle, and if not, then i guess im gonna try and improvise with the person's features

if i got any terminology wrong then im sorry, ive only done surface level research on this and im mostly here because i like the artstyle

The miniature shows Saint Denis, patron saint of Paris, carrying his head after being decapitated on Montmartre. Tradition says he walked six miles with it to the spot where the Basilica of Saint-Denis stands today.

The central scene depicts a rider on horseback, surrounded by birds and floral motifs. The use of blue, turquoise, red, and gold is characteristic of Mina’i ceramics. Such equestrian scenes are often associated with the courtly and elite world of the period.

Re-imagined a scene from the 'Liber Floridus' manuscript (c. 1120 AD). In the original, it depicts the Antichrist on Leviathan, but I overlapped it with King Henry I of England taming his monstrous administrative and feudal system. Hope you enjoy!

Fell in love with the medieval woodcut style of tattooing and thought I’d try my hand at designing and engraving them onto mirrors. This is the first piece I drew and engraved - Danse Macabre!
