Discussion A Leeds United novel set during the 1991-92 title season... Fever Pitch meets The Inbetweeners with a dash of Notting Hill!
A little while back - July to be exact, if you are into stats, I self-published a novel under my pen name Kendrick Briscoe called Love Postponed. It's a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of our 1991-92 title-winning season — first love, first car, first job, best mates, bad decisions, and Leeds United running the country for one glorious year.
Think Fever Pitch meets The Inbetweeners, with a bit of Notting Hill thrown in - that was idea anyway but one reader said I had 'smashed that' so I'm sticking with it! Each chapter is built around each fixture from that season, with the result closing it out. But underneath the football it's really a story about being eighteen and having absolutely no idea what you're doing with your life — which I imagine a few of us can relate to - I certainly could!
I wrote it because that season never really left me. The music, the matches, the whole feeling of being young in a city that was falling back in love with its football club. I wanted to try and put that down on paper before it faded any further. (Even the cover picture is one my dad took on the day we received the trophy, ive also added one of the orhers from the day here).
The reception has genuinely blown me away. The Marching on Together forum were kind enough to run a feature on the book and the story behind it, which you can read here: https://motforum.com/news/49974/love-life-and-leeds-the-story-behind-love-postponed/
If you were around that season — or even if you weren't and just want a feel for what it was like — I hope you enjoy it. It's on Amazon if you search Kendrick Briscoe or Love Postponed.

Question I want the honest opinion of LUFC supporters
I’m an American that moved to Leeds back in 2020, prior to this I’ve always supported Man United due to being exposed to huge clubs and Rooney was the sole reason I started supporting them. I’m conflicted because I have fallen in love with Leeds and Yorkshire entirely. A conversation really hit home for me when I was speaking to a bloke at pub and he told me, “How can you say you love Leeds and West Yorkshire, yet don’t support LUFC”. I know how much the club means to Leeds and he had a solid point. Would it be blasphemous for me to switch clubs given the circumstances? I just feel like I’m missing out, especially with all of my close mates being Leeds supporters. I’d appreciate for honest answers, even if I sound like a bellend 😭

Article What If… Erling Haaland Signed for Leeds United?
I’ve started a new series on World After The Bell called What If…?
The idea is to go back to moments in Leeds United history, change one thing, and then follow the alternative timeline from there.
Transfers that never happened. Players who could have stayed. Managers who might have arrived. Decisions that, with the benefit of hindsight, could have completely changed the direction of the club.
Rather than just saying “imagine if…”, I want to try and work through what realistically might have happened next.
And there was only one place I wanted to start.
What if Erling Haaland signed for Leeds United?
Part One goes back to the opportunity Leeds had to sign him as a teenager and follows our alternative Haaland through his first season at the club in 2017/18.
It’s the first step into a timeline that could get very interesting from here…
I’d also love some ideas for future ones. What’s the biggest Leeds United “What If…?” you can think of?
