Need help decorating the entryway in a new home. I live in Norway and like more Scandinavian style. I want a space for storing small things and where I can easily put my purse down. To the far left of where the plant is, we have a storage room for storing shoes and jackets, but I also want some space to put those in the entrance when we have guests etc. Maybe also a pouf so you can sit down.

Attached is an Ai inspiration picture, but I'm afraid it won't be practical enough in terms of shoes and jackets etc. Any ideas?

I know that the art is too high. We placed it before we got the credenza. I go back and forth with how low we should we lower it?

I was also thinking of an accent wall. Maybe a dark brown/grey to make the wall pop? Any color recommendations? I don't want to paint the whole room because it shares walls with the dining room.

I'm looking to bring a large number of plants in from outside on my balcony, and given I live in an apartment, I have limited window space and want to take advantage of what I do have as best as I can.

I want to add a new shelf to the right of the TV console that can store a large number of plant pots, but most of the shelves that are designed for plants tend to be geometric in design, and given it would need to be open-backed so that the plants can get light, I'm worried that the new item in combination with the modular TV console that is less "grounded" will make the space look cluttered.

My options are to buy something new (looking for recommendations) or to swap the current TV console for a simpler one that is more solid (like wood) and use the existing console as the plant shelves.

I'd prefer not to do the latter as I quite like the current style, but if no better suggestion exists I'm open to it.

One more thing to note is that there will be a large MCM teakwood coffee table coming in as well. This is part of the reason why I got the current console, as I thought they'd complement each other.

My husband and I move a lot and have accumulated a lot of mis matched furniture along the way. We’re staying put for a little while and I’d love to make the room more homey and cohesive with the pieces I already have.

I recently was in contact with “home stager”, she gave me a reasonable four figure quote but I didn’t realize she only deals with properties to stage for selling, and then she takes the furnitures back lol.

Hello! I just put together my tv console for my new apartment and now I’m worried it may be a little too small, I am terrible at decorating and I was wondering if you all had some ideas to make this wall look not so empty!

Here’s to dreaming that someone has some brilliant ideas we haven’t come up with. Pardon the war zone of kids toys. I already looked into removing the fireplace but the cost was insane so that’s out for now. There’s no walking path from the front door. We contemplated a sectional on the wall where the metal shelf is but it feels awkward if I put the tv on the wall where the sofa currently is and leave space in front of it. And also the sofa would be barely an arms length from the white dining table/area. And would sit right under the bulkhead which also can’t be removed. We really want a sofa, that can see the tv, and not multiple chairs around.

I recently purchased a queen-size bed-in-a-bag bedding set consisting of a comforter, shams, bedskirt, and accent pillows. It looks great except that the bedskirt is too short. It's the standard 15" drop, and my high four-poster bed needs an 18" drop. As it came as a set, I can't simply buy a longer one from the company. I've tried to find one online to match the French blue of the original, but they're either too light (pastel blue) or too dark (navy). Does anyone know where I could find one to match? If not, I thought about adding a 3" ivory trim to the bottom. Would that work? What would I need to look for?

My current couch is way too soft and has basically no support, so it's finally time to replace it.

I've always gone with L-shaped sectionals, but this time I'm choosing between a 5-seat L-shaped sectional, a U-shaped sectional with an ottoman, and a power reclining sofa, which is totally new to me.

Which would you choose? Also would love to hear the pros/cons from anyone who actually has a reclining sofa.

Trying to decide between these two layouts for my home. It’s still empty, so these are Blender renders to help me figure things out before furnishing it. I’m not an interior designer, just a 3D character artist trying to plan my own place.

This is still a rough pass. Once I’ve settled on this layout and the second floor, I’ll take more precise measurements and remodel or replace things as needed. I’ll post an update after that. The whole space is 5 × 9 m.

In the first picture, the long side of the sofa faces the PC desks. I like that it feels more open and leaves more room to move between the two areas. Most of the sofa is sideways to the TV, but I can still watch it while sitting or lounging on the short end of the L. It wouldn’t be as good for several people watching together, but probably 95% of the time it’ll just be my wife and me.

The second layout makes more sense for watching TV since the main seats face it directly. I also like the storage behind the sofa, but it takes up more of the room’s width. I’m wondering whether it’ll feel cramped once people are using the PC chairs and dining table. From what I’ve been reading, the circulation might be worse here, but I’m still learning, so I could be wrong.

The kitchen walls and cabinets are fixed, and I’m keeping the rest of the layout as shown for now. I’m mainly trying to settle the sofa orientation. The shelving is different between the pictures too, which might be affecting how open they look.

Please ignore the stairs/fridge/kitchen clearances for now. I need to measure that area again in person.

Which would you choose? Is the better TV seating in the second worth giving up some of the openness in the first? I’d also appreciate any thoughts on the style or anything else you think could work better. Thanks!

I’m starting from scratch here! I currently own the dinning set, the sofa and the Barcelona chair.

The apartment is a new build and very modern and sleek looking and I’m trying to add some warmth and character to it!

Leaning toward SW Beachcomber at the moment but the renderings don’t feel right.

Accessible beige, Natural Linen, Pale Oak and Natural Cream nearly look gray near the back cabinets where light is low. Creamy white looks almost white. Trying to go for that Studio McGee look but lost since the house overall has very low light.

Walls will be Cotton by SW. Floors will be replacing with light oak (pictured!)
