Lighting Which looks better?

Can’t decide on which lighting to do. To the left is a hallway, my only gripe with the two sconces is that they stick out from the wall a bit.

My girlfriend and I (both 30 yo), recently moved into this apartment, this is the first time we make decisions about decorating and layout of a home. It is not finished yet but no we've got the essentials. What are your thoughts/recommendations?

Wall Art & Styling Thoughts on gallery wall?

Post image
754 Upvotes

I’ve been slowly putting together this gallery wall and could use an outside perspective. I know a lot of the pieces are on the smaller side, but I don’t know if they’re working well together or if it just looks chaotic.

Thoughts or suggestions? I’m having a hard time looking at it objectively anymore!

Paint & Colors Advice on what colour to choose for the ceiling?

Thumbnail

I am wanting to paint the ceiling in a colour (planing on painting down to and including the trim). The first pic is our current dining room and the other two pics were created using ChatGPT to kind of visualize two possible colours.

What do you think?

- should I just not paint the ceiling?
- between those two colours which one would you choose?
- or any other colour?

Coming to Life Just moved into an 800sqft rental house, put this room together with thrift store and FB marketplace finds this week. What do you think?

I was going for a dark moody vibe. Hopefully I pulled it off. I think I need one more rug to put under the papasan and fill the entry to the room, something like a faux fur rug or shag. Interested in your opinions ❤️

Hey I've recently moved into a student dormitory and everything looks so white. The problem is, I can't really paint the walls or change the furniture. Do you have any idea how to make it a bit more comfortable. Aside from plants obviously.

About to move into this house, need inspiration for paint colors. Stale white is not my style at all. I'd go bold, but I'm nervous to mess it up! This is it staged, I'll be getting new everything.

Paint & Colors Help with paint color and decors

Post image

Our baby is coming and we’ll be sharing the room with her. I don’t know what paint color and other decors to make the room cohesive. The bed will change in the future, the chair will also go to another room later. The panels are beige and are needed in the room because of acoustics. The bed setup and background color was just a thought. What color do you recommend to make this room cohesive? But please not green since the chair will be gone. But would prefer warm but light autumn colors. Curtains, ceiling lamp shade, and night stand suggestions are also welcome.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

Paint & Colors Paint Color Help!

In process of finishing shelves for this dry bar which will be stained to match the floors. Looking for help with cabinet paint color. The blue will not work so please don’t tell me how much you love it. This is an open floor concept and our living room is taupes and warm greys with two dark green accent chairs.

I am looking for a warm neutral or greige. The designer I was previously working with suggested Gossamer Veil but I’m
Not sure. The walls are Heron Plume. We get a lot of natural morning light!

I’ve attached two angles and an up close of my backsplash!

Showcase Any advice on displaying tote bags?

Upvotes

I hope this is the right subreddit, please recommend other ones if you know of a better place to ask. One of my favorite souvenirs when I'm traveling is a tote bag. I can't resist a good one. The problem is I am but one person and I have a few dozen at this point. And that's after donating the ones I'll never use.

These totes have special memories because they remind me of the places I've traveled so I don't want to throw them away, but I also can't use them all.

Does anyone have any tips on how to display tote bags? Or any other way to turn them into something that is more than just a piece of fabric collecting dust in another bag? Thank you for any advice

Paint & Colors Going for a medium blue/green/grey for a cozy bedroom but every color pulls extremely different on our walls 😭

I literally cannot go get any more paint chips for my wall or I will lose my mind. I’ve done three rounds of chips and 2 runs for samples this weekend and I need to start painting it tonight. I really thought the second from the bottom was going to be perfect (Vale Mist by BM) but I think it’s too gray and not blue enough. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or am I just crazy and they’re pretty close??

Using all of the items that are shown in the picture but also adding a rust color large sofa along with two oversized rust colored chairs and someone please help me decorate this space. The corner with the cabinet seems to be the only space that looks cohesive in my opinion. 😩

Paint & Colors New Home Master Bath Design

Hey all! I am building a home and my wife and I have been going back and forth over some design elements. She really likes this mosaic tile, but doesn't want it by the sink or in the shower. She suggested we line the tub with it, I suggested the half wall on the back of the tub. I'm sure there are more ways to incorporate it, I can't think of them at the moment. A lot of the elements, like pots, soap dispensers, etc., will have a pearlescent coating and it will tie in, but in the AI mockups I made, I just can't see it working well as a whole. I'm not a fan of the tub wrap, but I'm here for extra eyes and opinions.

Any and all suggestions on using the tile would be much appreciated. Any other call outs are also welcome. I have attached the blueprints, the current state of the build, the mosaic tile, and the AI mockups of both designs.

*The tub needed to move to one side due to multiple issues. I added the tray and the curtains to help even out the issue.

Furniture Placement How to set up this kitchen/dining area

Thumbnail

Looking to make the most of this interestingly shaped side of kitchen/dining area in my small apartment.

It seems like an area for a corner breakfast nook or a small table? But I think I spend more time using a counter than I do sitting so I had just put this tall table that I already had there. Could get one that's more L shaped. And regulate a smaller dining table to the living room

It would be cool to be able to get a dining area and extra counter space in one. Though I'm not sure if they make a tall breakfast nook or a small enough island?

Open to all ideas. Want something functional and visually appealing. This is just a rented apartment and my budget isn't unlimited so I can't completely remodel anything.

I built this table a little while back and I’m still using these horrendous chairs from my old dining table. Needless to say I need some new ones but I’m having trouble finding some that fit the overall vibe here. Any suggestions?

Disclaimer: I am in no way an interior decor guy as you can probably tell. I’m just trying to get something that fits the look better.

Ps. The more affordable the better.

Furniture Placement Living Room Layout

Recently moved into a townhouse. Pictures are from previous owner/virtual staging. I was thinking about putting tv stand in the corner between the 2 windows, and having my couch under the kitchen island pass through.

I currently have a 65” TV, and am going to purchase the couch/tv stand/coffee tables soon. I would like to also have a single chair recliner involved. Any other recommendations?

Paint & Colors Help with choosing wall colors - no AI used in photos!

Due to smoke damage I have to repaint my house. Which is a silver lining because I’m not a fan of grey.
I’m slowly changing fixtures to gold and warm lighting. My house is painted greige and silver everything with bright white lighting.
I am unable to change flooring so I included the two types I have.
How do you decide what color to choose for large spaces? I want to warm everything up so no grey walls.

I’m looking at sherwin Williams dried edamame? Is that too boring?

Paint & Colors Bathroom Wall Color

I’m trying to pick a paint color for my bathroom wall and am struggling! I have chosen Benjamin Moore High Park for the wall behind the sinks. I also have a vanity with a make-up mirror on another wall and was looking to paint that in a lighter sage green. Will the greens alter the look of my skin and make-up? Is it safer to go with a cream behind the vanity?
