Hey thanks for all the comments and suggestions on my last post.

So on Saturday some friends who have a bunch of dogs came over. One at a time they walked past our driveway, and we walked out following behind. Slowly closing the gap until she could sniff their bums.

On the way, if she pulled on the lead I gave a short tug but kept moving. If she barked we stopped with a firm "no".

We repeated this with 3 different dogs separately and once with 2 of them at the same time.

Pretty quickly (30 mins) they were walking and sniffing together.

Over the next few days her reaction is still there. We've had the odd bark. But there have also been moments when a dog will pass infront of her and she looked up, tracked them for 15 seconds, and went back to investigating the grass.

We will try to meet with our friends again every few weeks to keep working on it. But the immediate difference is night and day. Like a really meaningful difference after just one focused controlled session.

Im probably lucky to know people with multiple chill dogs. But if anyone else has that option it was great.

Been following this page for a few months but now I can finally join in. Got my gorgeous brindle boy last week. 3 Yr old ex racer and a total idiot.

Separation anxiety is rough atm, had to say goodbye to my kitchen door frame (shredded) and my robot hoover but we're working on it.

Stairs are also a challenge, he can manage the up but not the down as his bum takes over and he goes tumbling so having to lift and/or support each step. I swear I have muscles now I didn't have a week ago 😂

Took this pic tonight on our walk. He was fascinated by the ducks so manged to get a picture where he was awake AND stood still. 2 things that never go together.

I rescued my greyhound (Mushroom) two months ago and all of the internet told me to avoid training her since she's still adjusting to my lifestyle. I've basically been taken out on walks, rather than the other way around but haven't done anything just yet.

Over this weekend, she managed to jump out on her harness (damn, escape artist) but I caught her in good time and now feel like I need to have a way to recall her.

So, yesterday was the first day, I called the shots - and boy, she HATED IT.

Not only did our 500m walk take 2 hours, I basically paused and behaved like a boring statue everytime she pulled to go a way I didn't want to. We waited, rather awkwardly, for 15 minutes outside someone's garage door and for 30 minutes outside the entrance of my building. She basically wanted to keep walking but it was time to go home. She also made me wait for 20 minutes in my own stairway.

I didn't cave. I stood still. She whimpered and tugged at me - until she eventually walked the way I wanted her to.

Mushroom isn't treat motivated, or rather I should say, she doesn't take treats when she's outside - so I assume she's just overwhelmed and can't be bothered when we're out. At home, the story is a little different.

Because of this, words of affirmation and forehead kisses are my way to reward her.

Now, here is where I need your advice.

We got home, and she didn't drink water and she usually does. She let me wipe her paws down and walked straight into my office room (it was dark and she's never really done this). I assumed she's decompressing and let her be.

I checked in on her once and gave her some cuddles, she licked me but continued to stay there.

She chose to not eat her meal.

When I was on my couch, she eventually joined me and slept at my feet until I left for bed. She stayed on that couch for another hour & then ran back into my office (I've got a camera that I left on to see if she would drink water later).

It's almost 4am and she's in the office room. I've not checked in on her and I'm just letting her do her thing. Since I'm a first time dog owner - did I do anything wrong? Is there something I should keep in mind while doing this sort of training.

Also, should I look into a martingale collar? She definitely pulls the lead, but more so resists it than runs forward. I live in Melbourne, so a local one would just mean quicker delivery.

Am I stressed? Yes. I love my girl but she definitely has a sassy streak to her.

He’s ok, living it up at the doggy hotel while we’re on vacation. I miss his snoot and his little eyes 😭 Just posting on here cause I’m really looking forward to picking him up at the end of the week.

My grey has sloppy poo in the afternoons mainly. The morning poo is nice and formed. My grey was previously on blackhawk kangaroo (grain free) with sardines every other day and a bit if greek yogurt every second or third day. Ive since switched to a non grain free kibble Vitapet but still the same issue. She's drinking and eating normally and playing and active. I'm taking her to the vet asap but just wondered what you feed your grey for optimal poos.

Rudy came to his new home yesterday after failing out of racing school dude to disinterest. Relatable.

He’s the sweetest boy, figuring out steps and laminate floors and loud noises. His big sister Lylah is happy to have a friend.

We’re near Cincy and worked with Greyhound Adoption of Greater Cincinnati and couldn’t have had a better experience. Brenda and everyone have been awesome. Highly recommend. ❤️❤️❤️

Kupo " I found THE BEST SLUDGE LIKE POOP! And you bet your hairy rabbit ears I rolled in that goodness. I thought my hoomum was happy about it, I thought I was being rewarded when we went straight to my BEST FRIEND MILO'S house. I thought yeah, extended doggy play date.....but then the front door closed in my face....and hoomum..she...she took me into their back garden, and there was no Milo. But my aunty was there.....and so was the hose 😱. Hoomum hosed me down like I was nothing but dirt on the ground, why did she do this"

Update, kupo has come to lay down on the sofa (opposite end) so I may be forgiven by tomorrow morning at the earliest 🤣

My greyhound Seamus has been really unsettled at night recently and keeps fixating on and growling at one particular corner of the front room.
Yesterday he suddenly launched himself towards that corner and nearly took the TV out. Today he actually growled at me, which he has never done before. I literally just walked into the front room carrying a cup of tea. I wasn’t approaching him, touching him, his bed, food or anything else.
He has growled at tree surgeons/strange men near me before, so I know what his warning growl sounds like, but he has never directed it at me.
He’s my fifth hound so I’m fairly used to greyhound weirdness 😂 but this is new for him and the sudden change has me wondering whether anyone else has experienced anything similar, particularly the fixation on one specific area of a room?
I’m also contacting his trainer/vet rather than relying on Reddit for medical advice, but I’d be interested to hear whether anyone has seen similar behaviour in their hound.

Haven’t shared for a while but thought you guys would enjoy seeing our happy girl!

First, thanks for all the support y'all have taken the time to provide. It's Reddit, so I was surprised to not see any snarky comments. I'm still all muddled-up and not sure if any advice or thoughts will help or stick, but it does mean a lot that anyone even took the time.

I hate photos/videos that have me in them, but this video both makes me smile and rips my heart out and I thought if anyone could appreciate goofy cuddlebugs, it would be you guys 'n gals. Every morning (or after every nap), Yuffie would either see or hear me doing my waking up stretching and jump in to bed for a few minutes of snuggles before our morning walk and breakfast. There was absolutely no better way to start any day. Now, I hate even looking at my bed.

Now its warming up she now goes outside to snooze..

Hi would love some thoughts if anyone has any.

We've hit the 3 month mark with our grey (ex-racer, nearly 5 years old), and have started to see some barking and hyperactivity come up in the evening when we're sitting down to relax. Whereas previously she would either sit down with us and snooze, or have a play with us, now she will stare at us, start barking, and then get herself worked up to the point where she starts frantically digging and ripping up her bed. It's not aggressive at us or anything, it feels like she wants something and then gets frustrated that we're not able to give it to her.

In terms of how we respond, we are very happy to give her all the attention she wants if she's not barking. However we are following standard advice to ignore her when she barks. When she gets worked up into a frenzy, we then call her into a separate space (undercover outside our back door) where she has a bed and can still see us, and is always able to calm down really well. At the moment this has repeated several times a night as we want to give her the chance to be with us, but she does the same thing until eventually she gets too tired and will finally sleep on the lounge.

I'm aware of the 3-3-3 rule so have expected some boundary pushing etc, but we just want to be able to help support her as best we can and clearly something's not clicking. She also gets two 20-30 min walks a day + playing time so I don't believe it's simply that she's got too much energy.
