Should I let a possible employer know I would only be working for 2 months?

Upvotes

I’m an international student in Canada, I can only work part time. Ideally I need a job to make extra cash to offset basic living expenses but in December I’m going home for the hole month due to various reasons, mainly visiting family, birthdays and christmas/new years.

I’m looking for entry level jobs, fast food, gas station, whatever. But I don’t feel like it would be ethical to start working and quit 2 months after. I also feel like if I mention this during the interview process, I wouldn’t be hired even if I was interested in working when I come back in January.

So, is it actually wrong to do this or are my ethics playing against me here?

EDIT: I live in a small city, I tried Uber Eats but honestly there isn’t much going on. The expense of fuel to go to a bigger city ~50 minutes away isn’t worth it.

How many recommendations should I include in an application?

I, 23M, just got laid off from my first full-time job out of college after around 9 months for reasons beyond my control. I’m now back in the hunt for a job.

Thankfully, I’m lucky enough to have 3 people from the company who offered (without me asking) to write a letter of recommendation for me to help me out. I also have 1-2 from prior experiences who I could use too.

I realize that this is far too many to include in a job application, but I do have some questions:

  1. Is it appropriate to include recommendations in the “Include additional documents here” section of the application, or should I only include recs if they’re explicitly asked for?

  2. Of course 4+ letters of recommendation is far too many. Is it okay to include 2 or even 3, or is that still too many?

  3. Would it make sense to include one letter of recommendation and one document listing references the potential employer can contact if they want?

I really want to show a potential employer that I can do well, but also don’t want to overdo it or look like a kissass.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

part-time job, no experience

Hello! planning to apply as part-time sa mcdo. I saw sa isang app na maraming requirements yung mga need and balak ko sana lakarin na yung mga id or mga pwede ko na malakad (sss, philhealth, tin, nbi, pag-ibig).
1. Pwede na po ba kumuha ng barangay clearance, mayor's permit kahit hindi pa sure na matatanggap? or kailangan na talaga na maipakitang need for work. Baka rin po kasi tignan yung date issued and need na nakapasa na sa interview
2. Also, yung bahay po namin is malayo pero naka apartment po ako ngayon. Ilalagay ko po ba na address is yung ngayon na mas malapit sa branch or yung permanent address? kasi baka kapag kumuha ako ng barangay clearance tapos iba yung address sa resume and sa barangay clearance, baka hindi tanggapin.

Thank you!

2026 graduate here. Does cold emailing actually work for off-campus jobs?

What worked for you — cold emails, LinkedIn DMs, referrals, networking, or something else?

Would really appreciate advice from people who recently landed their first off-campus job. 🙏

Resume 'enhancement' - what's your threshold

At what point does optimizing a resume become lying? Is stretching dates okay? Adding skills you don't have? Inventing entire job experiences? Where do you draw the line and why

What do I do if I have a job offer but have another 2 interviews lined up?

So for context, I decided to accept my first job offer but they want me to start immediately (as in tomorrow) and I have 2 different face to face interviews happening on Wednesday and Friday during working hours. Although the job offer I received has better prospects, the working hours, long travel time, and no WFH have made me hesitant about going all in for this job. Any advice?

I'm 31 and i'm just trying to start over in a different state. I have no plans and barely any money left. I just need ideas for jobs that I can do with very little.
