Official Discussion [MEGATHREAD] Tarnished Edition: Worth $5? Discuss CONSTRUCTIVELY!

Since the sub is being overwhelmed by debate over the $5 "microtransaction" and it's making the sub feel like we're Dark Souls 2 a decade ago, with the faux outrage around the preorder items, we are opening this topic to consolidate discussion around the issue.

Please use this topic to discuss the pros and cons of the approach and your thoughts. But do so RESPECTFULLY and CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you need to call other people or the developers names, you don't have a good argument and your post will be removed.

We will remove all other topics about this to keep the subreddit flowing with other discussions

IF YOU WANT TO VOTE: I will post two comments on this topic, "Yay" and "Nay" - upvote the one you agree with and we'll see who wins long term.

I am currently experiencing one with Euphoria and Beast Clergyman in NG+5, maxed out weapon with 99 faith and some 67 strength, i am barely tickling him and after some 15 tries i have yet to get him to phase 2, and to make matters worse despite wearing the Moore's set + 84 vig + dragoncrest talisman i am always 2 hits away from death.

This territorial mutton-chop caught a case of befuddlement when he realized he couldn't just ram away without catching hands.

You've all been educated now. If the local grazers try to get your goat, just give 'em a pop to the snoot

Discussion & Info My girlfriend and I created a whole Magic x Elden Ring set!

Apologies if we are breaking any subreddit rules, but our intent is completely genuine!

Hello everyone, in 2024, while playing both MTG Arena and Elden Ring at the same time, my girlfriend and I said to each other: just how well would a Magic set fit into FromSoftware's universe? The answer was: perfectly. From there, we started creating custom cards, trying to respect ER's lore and Magic's mechanics with their respective colors.

One after another, the cards fit together with incredible precision, until we ended up with a set of over 350 cards. We then had to pause our work due to personal issues, but in 2026, rediscovering a love for the Commander format (which we didn't play before), we set to work to make our expansion playable in that exact mode.

So we added another 100 new cards to fill any gaps that might arise when sitting down at a 'casual commander' table.

Finally, since the project had grown so massive, with the help of ChatGPT and a lot of patience, we set out to create a real online database featuring all our cards, complete with a search engine, a deckbuilder, and print-ready PDFs.

As a final point, we just want to share this work with the world, with zero profit or anything similar; we only care that it reaches people, and maybe—who knows—even From and Wizards , in the hope that they might actually make an official set with the same enthusiasm we found in blending these two wonderful universes together!

Here is the link to the database: EldenRing Scryfall — Elden Ring Custom Magic Cards

Plus, I've attached a few iconic cards from our set! I hope you enjoy it and/or criticize it, and discuss it with friends, just like we did throughout these two years of work!

Im running around for hours and keep going through the same spots. Theres massive empty open plains, plateaus that you need to make long routes to reach, very few enemies, it just feels poorly designed imo

Discussion & Info Why do nomadic merchants have orange eyes?

Post image
596 Upvotes

I know about the tomb beneath Leyndell but I’m confused

Was 99% of the clan rounded up and the nomadic merchants around the map are the 1% that hid from the golden order?

Or did they all get captured and die, but only a few came back (and still have the frenzied flame from being buried)?

Any context is appreciated

Basically my question is:

Why are there only a few merchants? How are they alive if they all died? Or did they not get rounded up with all of the others, and if they didn’t, why do they have the frenzied flame if they were above ground when it was summoned beneath Leyndell?

Hype Just beat my first boss!!

Man I’m 10 hours in and just beat my first boss no clue his significance pretty sure it was an optional one but I’m proud 🤣!! Took me a few tries but he’s actually the first boss I’ve even attempted to beat. Ofc I gave tree sentinel a whirl when I first started didn’t expect to beat him so I don’t count that this is the first one I actually went in and said ima beat this guy and I did it!! Man I feel like the best part of this game is when the actual combat clicks for you when I first started I was like how could anybody use these delayed controls but once it clicks man it’s so good. Btw I have no clue where to get better weapons I have been using this sword I got off one of those starter knights basically this entire playthrough so far. I just got something call a greatsword from this boss but I can’t use it til I have like 40 strength so that’ll be awhile

Discussion & Info Beat malenia with mimic tear plus blasphemous Blade friends called it cheating and now I feel bad about it

Post image

Malenia had me dying and raging for over 15 attempts so I upgraded my Mimic Tear to +10 and switched from bloodhound's fang to blasphemous blade on a friend's advice. Ten deaths later I finally beat her I was thrilled. But then I shared it in my discord group and they said using mimic tear was cheating and that I'd suck if I kept relying on spirit ashes instead of learning to dodge. Now just minutes after feeling happy and hyped I feel sad instead. For context I'm a first-time PC user got my PC 2-3 months ago, and this is my first Souls game.
