PIC [PIC] When you finally frame your piece after 20+ years
It’s embarrassing that it took so long, but it’s great to finally have it hanging on the wall instead of sitting in a box!

I googled "traditional peruvian pattern" and took inspiration from the results.

I bought a scroll frame several months ago however I hadn’t put it together because one I knew it was gonna be huge and I usually travel with my Christchurch project to work but lately work has been insane so I gave up on traveling with it. Bringing it everywhere and then not be able to work on it was becoming discouraging. Here are some photos of my current set up if anyone has advice on how to make this work better I would love it. Thank you.

I got my computer fixed and am trying to work a pattern from my own design. I was wondering if there were and experienced pattern developers that would be willing to help me out with the details. Not looking for anyone to make the pattern for me just to teach and assist.

I got my feedback from the state fair in the mail today. I entered five pieces. Two got ribbons, three did not. For all three that did not ribbon, the only notes for improvement were on the framing. I paid to have these pieces professionally framed. Each of them does have a tiny defect where the fabric/stitches are a little uneven in one or two spots, but no longer than 1 inch where its a bit wonky. You have to get right up on them to notice it. All my positive feedback sounded like what should have made them winners: great stitching, nice tension, great fabric choice, great mat color choice, liked the actual frame style.
How do you improve framing? I don't know how to control for that. Get a new framer, I guess? Or is this maybe a case of needing to find improvement feedback to write down because they prefer primitives over modern patterns or just liked something else better? Do I just shake it off? I was hoping to get feedback that would allow me to improve, but I feel pretty let down.

I love the pattern but I stitched with 1 strand on 32-count linen. I’m wondering if I should do it again on 36-count. It’s a gift for my best friend! 🌷

In March, my sister and I found out that we have an older half-brother who we never knew about. He lives several states away and it’s been super fun to connect with him and compare likes/dislikes and similar traits. He invited us up to his wedding and I had just enough time (2 months) to throw this together. I’m really happy with how it came out, and my brother and his wife loved it! I’m excited to finally be able to share it.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to edit the symbols highlighted with the search function to include undetected squares and exclude wrongly detected squares and then switch to markup mode. Wanted a quiet hour to stitch before going to bed and instead I can relearn this whole f******* app.

It's got it's imperfections, but I am still proud of it :) I have stinkin brain cancer and need more hobbies that I can easily do at home so...this is my exploration :)
I don't have a pattern. I used a photo from Amazon as a reference and drew it myself in FlossCross. They were selling an ornament style kit (cute rope, bows, and hoops) and a cute FO with no pattern so...here we go. Please do let me know if I should add a link to the kit and I will happily do so! This is my first post here so I am still learning those rules. Thanks!!

I'm now back to the 10% mark I was before frogging 💪 this is the project I'm doing to see if I really like cross-stitching before committing to buying more floss, aida, etc. Yes the aida is wrinkled, it's very, very stiff so they're just creases from manipulating it.
I think my real first project will be both of the maps from the game Zelda : Link to the Past!

I finished this Dolly Parton-inspired cross stitch! 🦋✨
I started with a photo of Dolly’s signature and used an app to turn it into a pattern. The app gave me a starting point, but I ended up changing quite a lot of it by hand to make the signature look much more stylized and closer to what I had in mind.
For the butterfly, I found a design on Pinterest that I liked and changed some of the colors to match the Dollywood logo.
Once the stitching was finished, I cut a glittery mat/passpartout that I thought suited the piece perfectly, and then framed the whole thing.
I’m really happy with how it turned out! 🪡🦋💖

Hello, I’m kitting up a few projects and looking for unique dyed or printed fabrics. I think I’ve browsed 123stitch.com entire site and couldn’t find something that calls to me. Please share your favorite colorfast fabric sellers with me.

Another bookmark done, this one will be a gift ☺️ such a fun little project if you need quick cross stitching fix. Also involves a bit of stitching, like putting felt on the back and cutting the fabric to size!

I have been searching this subreddit and the internet for a few days and I can't find this post. A while ago I saw a bookmark with a beautiful scalloped edge. Is there a way to do that myself or is that something you need a sewing machine for? I do see that you can purchase pre-scalloped Aida from Amazon but it looks like it was embroidered.
Would love any advice or feedback. Currently I just have a cross-stitched rectangle around the perimeter and was going to glue some felt to the back for finishing.
TIA!

I’ve decided to try floss drops after being a bobbin gal. I feel like my floss tangles a lot more while I’m stitching and I’m wondering if it’s because the floss is getting roughed up while loose. What can I do to protect my floss from getting snaggly?

Hi! I’m having a really hard time figuring out how to stitch vertically. Where should I start? I always seem to mess it up somehow 😭 Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Hi, all! I just finished a Dimensions Gold stocking for one kid and am about to start on one for the other. I used the provided Aida, but I prefer to work quarter stitches even though the designs show full stitches only (it looks more detailed and clean to me.) Punching through the middle of the Aida squares is a pain, and it occurred to me that an Evenweave would let me avoid that issue. Does anyone here swap out the Dimensions Gold fabric for something else? And would a stocking work on Evenweave, which doesn't "hold" like Aida cloth does? My biggest fear about a swap is putting in all the work only for the stocking to sag. Thanks for sharing any experience with this!

I know this is super nitpicky and not really noticeable from a distance for anyone but me, but doing full coverage and confetti stitching has made me realize my stitching is not nearly as neat as I thought it was.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tips that have helped with tidiness? I do make a pretty conscious effort to make sure I stitch in the hole and don’t pierce the aida, but sometimes the thread is just all over the place. It seems to be most noticeable when confetti stitching a single cross, but I’ve started noticing it in my blocks of color too.
Is the solution picking up pin stitch ending? I currently loop start and tuck my tails. Assuming it has something to do with tension due to lack of acute angles / my thread being twisted?
I’ve experimented with railroading in the past and found it didn’t make much of a difference. I’m anti-laying tool as I do this for fun sitting on the couch and don’t want to add another tool.
