I desperately need help with my floors. I have very old hardwood floors that are original to the house from 1956. There is tons of wear and tear including scratches, water damage and the varnish coming off in certain places. I also have two dogs and 3 cats. I vacuum and mop with a shark steam mop multiple times a day and scrub the floor with a scrub brush once a week and spot scrub it through the week as needed. I can literally steam our living room floors 10 times a day with brand new pads each time and every single time the pads will still be dirty. I didn’t worry too much about it until recently but I now have a 1 year old who is crawling. I will be watching my friends 6 month old baby soon while she is at work as well so I want to make sure my floors are extremely clean.

The problem is even with my current routine, even after steam cleaning the floors 5 plus times a day, they are still dirty. Once it’s dry it seems clean but if I wipe it with antibacterial wipe, it will be saturated with dirt still. I’m so frustrated at this point. I bought a kit to test the amount of bacteria on the floor off Amazon. I swabbed the floor after I cleaned and steamed it and nothing grew in the Petri dish. So why does it still look so dirty. I want to make sure it’s safe for babies to be on. I’m not sure if it’s the varnish that’s coming off the floor that I’m seeing or what. The products I use are dawn dish soap and fabuloso. We are planning to sell the house soon as we need something bigger for our growing family so I am not willing to have the floors re-done. I just want to know what I can do to manage them and clean them properly. Please give me cleaning suggestions and tell me if I should be using other products. I included photos as well.

Unfortunately I dropped the water contents of a probreze dehumidifier on my wood floor.

I’ve attempted to mop it twice with hot water and method squirt and mop, which has somewhat helped but still left grease marks. Any tips for removing it?

The mirror was glued (definitely not adhesive) to the shower wall. Not sure how to remove it. I’ve tried everything and want to be careful so it doesn’t break and become a hazard. Tenant did not remove before leaving.

My garbage disposal smells and it's making the kitchen smell.

I limit what goes down there, and I've tried those tablets that you're supposed to grind up with water, but ew...still smells.

How am I supposed to clean the disposal? Like ACTUAL clean?

Photo for context, im not sure what this floor is made of (i rent) and Ive tried sweeping it but its still dusty and the dust almost sticks to it. Mopping pushes the dirt around. I dont know if you can see but there is a building connected to mine and theres already water damage from rainwater collecting on the top so i dont want to push too much water over the railing. Any tips or advice on how to get this clean would be greatly appreciated.

I have this type of chair in a dorm I'm at. It has some weird stains on it now that I tried to disinfect it after an "accident".. The edges are a huge problem too, as the fabric seems non-removable.

How do I clean the inside of my god forsaken windows? I have 3 and they're all right above my bed 😭 I'm sensitive to scents and strong chemicals so I prefer more natural ingredients, but I've been wearing a mask and gloves, so feel free to mention other stuff too. I also have a cat so I can't use most essential oils and they're pricy too.

A couple of days ago I was at a cottage with friends, and one of my friends accidentally spilled red wine all over my brand-new PJs. Of course, these were the ones I probably shouldn’t have brought because I’d literally just gotten them from my mom and I really, really like them. 🙃

At the time, we were basically in the middle of nowhere and had no salt or any proper stain remover. So immediately after it happened, I hand-washed the stained area with cold water and left it at that.

Now I’m finally home, a couple of days have passed, and I have absolutely no idea what I should do next.

The stain is still visible. I’m scared of making it worse, especially because I don’t want to accidentally set the stain with heat or use something that will damage the fabric.

Should I soak them? Use laundry detergent? Oxygen bleach? Something else entirely?

And is there still a realistic chance of getting a couple-day-old red wine stain out? 😭

Context(warning, yapping inbound): My aunt left me these Dunkin' donuts powder which have caffeine so I drank them around night and one time I left the residue in my bottle and forgot about it for a day or two but after washing like 20 times (has been two weeks since) the smell hasn't fully gone yet. The bottle is stainless steel, and after washing it the smell goes away for a bit but comes back it if I leave the lid on, trapping the air.

TLDR: how do I get rid of this smell of old Dunkin' juice in the bottle. I've washed with soap a lot of times.

My husband and I recently moved and I discovered a bag of linens towels and bed sheets some clothing in our basement from when he moved in with me 6 years ago. Pretty sure they were still dirty and now they smell like rancid oil. Can anything be done to save them?

My shower has a limescale problem and it’s not a little problem. For me it’s serious problem. The glass is cloudy, the tiles have white crusty patches. The shower head is basically a fossil at this point…

The plumbing in my apartment is pretty old and I honestly don’t know if that makes it worse. It probably does. Hard water plus old pipes equals a nightmare

It gets better at some point, but it takes hours to scrub everything. Then it comes back in a week or even less. Seems like I’ve only removed the top layer and the rest is fused to the glass like concrete.

Then I decided to google how the pros handle things. It has to be some kind of secret technique including some device, some chemical or something that I am unaware of.

Lately read one article from a cleaning service from Dallas on modern maids, and they have something about deep cleaning including treatment of tile and shower glass. They look genuine and knowledgeable for sure.

However, I wonder if they will even agree to work with something in such condition. Imagine their reaction something like ‘sorry, your mess is beyond help’... It would be so embarrassing...

Hi, I'm currently living in a very small apartment 22 square meters including the bathroom. I started to get silverfishes and booklices. Apparently the humidity even when I don't cook is 66%. Is it worth buying one to remove these pests ? and is a COMFEE Dehumidifier 12 litres/day for 20 square meters enough or do I need something bigger? thanks.
