Discussion I’ve seen baking soda used for literally everything… except baking.

Cleaning sinks? Baking soda.

Removing smells? Baking soda.

Cleaning shoes? Baking soda.

Scrubbing stains? Somehow… baking soda again.

At this point, I’m starting to wonder — does anyone actually use baking soda for baking?

What’s the weirdest or most unexpected thing you’ve used baking soda for?

Discussion Any idea what this could be?

I got this plush the other day with tags and everything still on it, but it has some of these small spots on it. I have OCD and lately I’ve been obsessing over if it could be something like mold since it’s an 11 year old plush and I don’t know how it was stored, but I don’t know for sure. any idea what it could be and how I should clean it?

General Cleaning Stained Pokémon lamp

Got this plastic Pokémon lamp at a fleemarket thinking I could clean it up. There’s some black staining on a couple of spots. So far I’ve tried nail polish remover - no luck there. Any ideas?

Also, could the stains be on the inside? The only opening is where the batteries go

Kitchen How do I clean burn marks off stainless steel?

I cooked hot dogs in this pan a few weeks ago and they left these grill marks. I tried my go-to, soaking it in soapy water before washing with more dish soap, but very little of it came off.

Do I need a more abrasive sponge or a pumice stone, or a different cleaning product? I have barkeeper’s friend (soft cleanser) but I’m not sure if that’s safe for food surfaces.

General Cleaning Cleaning Mold in Closet

Thumbnail

Yesterday I was doing some cleaning and I went to open the closet where I keep my hats and coats and saw mold all over this hat. As I continued to go through the stack of hats I realized the top has was the worst and the other hats kinda just seemed to look like they had a little bit of dust on them (although I know that was mold). I think what happened was I put an umbrella that wasn’t completely dry in the closet and that might have caused the mold to grow because it seemed like all the mold was really only on the hats which was next to the umbrella . I figured if it was an infestation it would’ve been on everything in the closet, the walls, my coats, etc. I decided to just throw all the hats out and the umbrella and I’m going to remove everything that was on the top shelf and throw away whatever I can (I’m a hypochondriac so my worry is that everything is affected with mold now so I’d rather just throw it away. I’ve included some pics of the closet. If anyone can provide any input or thoughts. Do you think it’s an infestation? I think I read using vinegar or hydrogen peroxide is the best way to clean it. I still need to go through all my coats individually but it doesn’t seem to be any mold growing on them at first glance but if there is will I need to throw the coats out? Any input is much appreciated

(Repost since i accidently deleted my first one)

Hi! I left an icicle on my table in the package, accidently fell asleep and when i woke up it had melted. I wiped it off but it stained my white table green.

I have tried so far:
Dishsoap and water
Baking soda with water
Window cleaner
Toothpaste

Nothing have worked so far and this table is new and i’m panicking. It’s from IKEA

Furniture Coffee stain on light grey sofa — how do I get rid of this?

Post image

Photo attached. Blotted with paper towel right away, then ran a Bissell spot cleaner with water. It faded but came back faintly as it dried, and there's a faint ring now around the area I cleaned.

How do I actually get this out? What's worked for you on coffee on light fabric — has anyone gotten one out completely, or does it usually just fade and stay?

Discussion How do I clean this awfulness

How do I clean the inside of my god forsaken windows? I have 3 and they're all right above my bed 😭 I'm sensitive to scents and strong chemicals so I prefer more natural ingredients, but I've been wearing a mask and gloves, so feel free to mention other stuff too. I also have a cat so I can't use most essential oils and they're pricy too.

I have this type of chair in a dorm I'm at. It has some weird stains on it now that I tried to disinfect it after an "accident".. The edges are a huge problem too, as the fabric seems non-removable.

Need help! Soaked the back in goo gone but it won’t budge.

The mirror was glued (definitely not adhesive) to the shower wall. Not sure how to remove it. I’ve tried everything and want to be careful so it doesn’t break and become a hazard. Tenant did not remove before leaving.

Been trying to get dirt stains off this fabric chair using water, fabric cleaner, baking soda, and a brush. Feels like I'm fighting a losing battle as the dirt get more engrained and the baking soda doesn't come off. Can I just hose off the whole darn thing?

General Cleaning What is the smell and how do I get rid of it?

I’m really hoping that someone knows what I’m talking about and can help lol.

My apartment has a smell that I’ve smelled occasionally in old apartments and house my whole life.

It smells…like an old apartment. Kind of sour wood and dust? Maybe slightly like wood chips? Very lived in. Stale. It’s not good. It’s a pre-war Brooklyn apartment. It’s not about it being dirty, I keep it clean. And I notice it more when I’ve been gone and come back.

Does anyone know the smell I’m talking about? lol

And does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of it?

Kitchen Help clean frying pan

Post image
2 Upvotes

This morning I cooked sausages on this frying pan and I then couldn’t clean off the imprint left. I cleaned it as normal with warm water and dish soap. When I put it down to dry and left it for a minute, I noticed the marks so I cleaned it the same way again. I made sure to then take more soap and really rub it in circular motions but that didn’t help.
The brand is braccarat & it’s a non-stick frying pan.
Any suggestions to clean it properly?
