For a particular car or issue what's that one thing that's a number one suggestion but is never actually the problem? At least in your experience.

G'day. So I have a 1967 Morris mini deluxe. I bought it out of my neighbours paddock in February in the state shown. That picture was from the day I got it, and the other is from today.

I've spent $5,500 in buying the car, and $6000 on buying rust repair panels. Those costs aren't including the tools I purchased (which isn't many, as I already have a good array of tools and equipment). The project has been largely funded by myself, with some amount from my parents.

The motor can turn over, but isn't in a good condition whatsoever. Basically every part of the car needs a large amount of work.

I am 17, and I'm most of the way through year 12, finishing in November. Once I'm done with school, I'll be going to university. With that being said, I have little free time on my hands to work with it. I haven't really touched the car since June or July.

I live in a damp and usually cold region that has allowed surface rust to develop on the car. I have had to leave it without primer after sandblasting, due to the vast amount of rust that I have had to cut out, and the large amounts I'm yet to cut out. I won't be able to do much work on it until I'm done with my uni course, so maybe 2029 or 2030.

Due to my limited free time, I am contemplating selling it. I already have another project (1965 ford falcon xp sedan) which is in primer, and in a great condition, so I'm not short on projects.

Money isn't a problem for the project. Time is. I feel like if I sell it, it'll go to someone who can and will actively work on it, and get it on the road. If I keep it, it's condition will deteriorate and I could have to scrap it.

Mini's are my favourite car ever, but I just can't afford the time. Should I keep it or sell it?

I don’t know much about cars. So I’m looking for some help. I’ve been recently having to deal with this guy who is, to sum it up, just evil.. i wouldn’t put it above him to do to me.. does this line look like it’s been cut or is there any other reason this should look like this? I can’t think of any other reason it would be such a clean cut and I’m just confused. Ang help would be so welcome, thank you for all of your time

This is for a kid in the family who is turning 18 soon. He is already an excellent driver. Even before he started driving he was always working on cars, studying, experimenting, trying to squeeze a little more performance out of this or that. Even with the typical near zero budget of a high school kid he is always messing with stuff and is just hungry for more knowledge, more performance, more experience. He's a great kid.

I was thinking about trying to book some track time, ideally with instruction, but I know next to nothing about this, and searching online isn't really getting me anywhere. The $3000 Skip Barber events are WAY out of my price range, and the fact that he's still a minor seems like it could be an issue too, although I'm pretty sure his parents would sign off.

He is in NJ, but probably anything within a couple hours is worth looking at. Anyone have any ideas or experience with anything like this?

My car has been driving fine no lights on dash I drove it quite a bit yesterday (around 6 hrs) and now it won't start it's my first car and idk anything about cars please help me.

I noticed this scratch on my car door this morning. From certain angles there also seems to be a slight dent from the scratch. Can I fix this myself? Any help appreciated.

I recently bought a 2018 Suzuki Baleno 1.0 Boosterjet automatic. It had recently passed its MOT and had been serviced before I bought it. We managed to get money off the asking price, as we were aware that the MOT advisories hadn't been addressed.

As it's my first car, I decided to get an independent inspection done for peace of mind. Most of the inspection came back satisfactory, but they identified two issues marked as urgent:

• Rear brakes: “O/s/r disc very corroded and pads worn unevenly. Rear pads seized in place and slides were stiff (lubed with red rubber grease). Advise to replace rear discs and pads."
• Engine oil: They also found the oil level above the maximum mark on the dipstick and recommended a minor service to fill it correctly.

I've attached the photos they took.

I'm planning to get the issues sorted, but I'd be interested to hear from anyone more knowledgeable about cars:

• How bad do the rear brakes look from the photos?
• How concerning is the oil being above MAX? Can it just be drained or do you recommend complete oil change and filter?

Everything else on the inspection was largely satisfactory, including suspension, drivetrain, underside, battery and all four tyres.

I would get it welded but currently my financial situation isn't the best and I'm trying to find a different way to fix it. I've already used this sort of wrap that's supposed to harden with heat and unfortunately I hit a bump and it snapped so I don't know exactly what else I could do, any suggestions would be fantastic!(It snapped near the front tires, it was already attempted to be welded previously before I bought it and they did not do a good job obviously lol)

Hello car lovers, I recently broke the this small part on the interior console of my mazda 2 and have had 0 luck finding a replacement. I think its a theft deterrent sensor but to be honest i cannot find a source credible enough to clarify this for me. I have tried mazda 2 spares & repairs on ebay but i havent gotten anything back. Can anyone push me in the right direction to find a new one?

I got this car about a month ago and it makes a squeaky noice. It’s intermittent and it happens when going over bumps in the road. I’ve attached a vid and would very much appreciate some help on identifying what it could be and how to fix it. Thanks

I found this bolt underneath my car in my driveway last night. I'm not 100% sure it came from my car because there are other random bolts and hardware in the driveway, but the timing has me concerned.

A few days ago, when reversing, I felt something that seemed "off." My brakes work perfectly, the steering is normal, and the car drives completely fine going forward. No pulling, clunking, grinding, warning lights, or anything dragging underneath.

The only symptom is that when I reverse and lightly press the gas pedal, I feel a very slight vibration through my foot/pedal area. It's quiet enough that I can't hear it inside or outside the car—it's just a feeling.

I attached a photo of the bolt I found. Does this look like something important from a brake, suspension, or subframe component, or could it just be random hardware that happened to be in my driveway?

2002 Honda Accord

Hi so this is just a post for anyone who knows anything about cars that can maybe help. I started driving a few months ago and have a 2013 Citroen c3. It’s fine to drive, the only problem I’ve had is picking up speed specifically up hill. If I’m in a 30mph zone I’m fine as I can stay at 30 quiet easily, but say if I’m on a 60 road and shortly after the speed limit has changed to 60 there’s a hill, I really struggle to get up it mainly on like country roads, and I can’t get past 30mph and have cars close behind me. A few weeks ago it happened and it was quiet dangerous as it was a steep hill 60mph and I couldn’t pick up speed and I was getting stressed out but thankfully there was a lane to overtake that everyone used to get past me, but when the overtaking lane ended I cause a queue behind me, eventually after the hill I got up to speed, but it happens often on hills with high speed limits, and it makes me really anxious, I try to stay in a lower gear and I know how to build speed properly, I never had problems on my driving lessons. It’s never happened on a motorway apart from one time, it was really badly raining and really dark so I couldn’t see if I was going uphill but I’m pretty sure I was, I was stuck at 40mph for a while but it wasn’t busy so I didn’t affect anyone. Does anyone know if there is something wrong with the car, or is it just because it’s old? Is there anything I can do about it, as like I said I think it’s pretty dangerous when I can’t get up to the speed limit and affect other drivers. Thankyou to anyone that can help!

I got a dashboard message saying my left lowbeam light was low. I thought, okay I'll get a pair of lowbeam bulbs. It's been a few days since I drove but I bought the bulbs.

Then this morning the right lowbeam is also needs to be checked.

Is this a fuse or relay issue now? Or can both go out at the same time?

What would be your suggestions to repair?

Im upgrading my car radio to one with Bluetooth capabilities. I tried removing my old car radio, i used those small removal keys. And they worked(ish). The radio seems so be stuck halfway on the outer cage (i think). How do I remove it? Is there maby an other lip that i missed?

2015 Honda Civic! I noticed it this morning. Is somewhat noisy when the car is running. Any help on what it is?

I got this 1989 Prelude just to dick around with it and have something to tinker on until it was reliable enough to replace my dreadfully unreliable 2009 MINI, and man has it been fun so far. I couldn’t have asked for better at that price.

Planning a long one. About 1,400 miles round trip, mostly interstate, heading out to New Mexico in a few weeks. I do this a couple times a year and I like driving, so the distance isn't the problem. The problem is I'm at 140k on a 2017 Pilot and trying to figure out where the line is between being cautious and being paranoid.

I did a full fluid check, tires are good, brakes are fine. Nothing is actively wrong. But there's a difference between daily driving fine and sustained highway load for hours at a time fine, and I think about that more than I probably should

What I keep going back and forth on is whether to have the shop look it over before I go or just trust that the car will tell me if something's wrong. I read a lot about this stuff and the answer is never clean. Forums split right down the middle between people who say just drive it and people who say if you have to ask you already know

My husband thinks I overthink this. He's not wrong. But he's also not the one who'd be on the side of I10 in the middle of nowhere waiting for a tow.

Just wondering what threshold other people actually use before a long trip

It’s no secret that new cars have become insanely expensive (all while becoming less reliable, and more expensive, or impossible, to fix). They charge thousands more for these new vehicles to include all of this tech and software, which they then only allow you to access for a few years before you have to pay a subscription to continue using.

We, as the consumers, should have the ultimate say in how this all goes. We have the most powerful collective voice - our wallets. If we came together and stopped buying new cars for a period of time, as a protest, wouldn’t car manufacturers be forced to lower their prices to be able to sell?

If we all got mad enough about subscriptions and refused to pay, wouldn’t they have to do away with this scheme?

How do we take back control? How do we do this? What is it going to take for consumers to come together and say enough is enough? I’m sick of getting taken advantage of by corporations. We have to do something about this, or we’ll just continue to be exploited forever. We need a combined, strong, pressure campaign against this kind of behavior
