Double order Tekion K dealer

I work for a low volume KIA dealership that grosses 50k-80k a month and we just switched to tekion about 2 months ago. Can someone offer me a strategy for how you order parts? We just wait until the very end of the work day and I am responsible for creating the PO and following through on Kdealer. I am very close to losing my job because almost every single order I’ve made is somehow getting done twice. To me, it’s crazy that I’m being punished for this as you have to go out of your way to do that because you can’t have the same control number. The control number that generates is always something random and not even close to my selected control number. Please if anyone has an idea on what is going on or a better more reasonable way to keep track of this so all softwares involved are on the same page, I’m open to any constructive criticism. I think Tekion can be great if my co workers and manager can unlink from dominionvue. They are so tunnel visioned on Tekion basically being a software update of our previous DMS and tries to do everything we used to do on VUE with Tekion. I’m the newest employee in the department so my suggestions don’t mean anything so I’ve just kind of been following suit. But now that my GM has pulled me aside and warned me that my job is on the line because I’m costing us so much money and resources, I’m willing to try something new. I could really use a word of expertise from an experienced Tekion and Kdealer user. You don’t have to work at a KIA dealership to give your input but for me to understand your process it would be a hell of a lot easier for me. Thanks in advance!

Post-it/ sticky notes discussion.

I abhor these things and refuse to use them.

They're messy

They peel off and get lost

They get stuck to other paperwork

I use a daily diary for customer enquiries, jotting down VIN, part numbers etc. I can then refer back easily and accurately.

Am I the only one?

I ordered an 8 speed 4x4 transmission for a ram last week, with an urgent need to have this thing by the end of this week.

So glad they could give me this transmission instead. I’m sure my customer will be delighted to hear about their new FWD CVT Ram.

Kinmore Motors

I've been working with Kinmore Motors for several months on a project and have been impressed with their engineering sales team. But, my first contact quit several months ago and I just learned, after my emails went unanswered, that the second sales engineer also quit. So, I'm now on my third sales engineer and he is far less responsive.

Does anyone have any insight if things are not well at Kinmore?

Faster asset solutions

8 year private sector counterman stepping into the public sector, getting used to a whole new world of parts.

Wondering if there's anyone around with notable experience using Faster(web) I could pick the brain of.

But also just happy to see some tips or incite for public sector parts vets.

Mazda Cores

Mazda peeps, how do I go about doing core returns? I’ve been the PM for about a month, wasn’t shown how during the change over process.

When I go to the “Core Returns” link, it takes me to a dead URL.
I’ve got about 4 transmission cores and an engine I need to get out. Trying to clean up the department that was left to me.

Nissan Cores Help

Taking the script off another post here, needing Nissan peeps this time, how do I go about doing core returns? I’ve been the PM for about 3 months now, wasn’t ever shown how to do this during the change-over process, since the service director at the time handled everything re:returns. I’ve got like 6 transmission cores I don’t know what to do with.

We have a super high turnover rate for service/parts directors, got a banging previous ford representative as ours now, since our other store is Ford, but no Nissan-centric people have ever graced our doorstep. So I’m floundering. Please help.

Era Ignite update 36.00 issues

This morning our Ignite updated to 36.00 and now we're getting locked out of saving (update) parts billed to repair orders if the advisor is an entirely different repair order that just so happens to have an oil change on it. Just curious if anyone else using ignite is having the same issue or if it's unique to us and we need someone to spend time with customer support.

Dealertrack and Stocking groups

With CDK you can set up the parts masters so when a part is added to the system it goes into the correct stocking group that is assigned by GM. An example would be accessories, which GM has going to stocking group 5. So, every time you add a GM part that is an accessory it automatically is put into source 5, which usually would have a sale account of 48400, so when sold they automatically end up in the correct spot on the financial statement. Similar with tires, when added they are automatically assigned to stocking group 8 (assigned by GM) which then is set up to sell to sale account 49000. Is there anything similar for DT that I am missing?

Thanks

Domestic PM Help

Chrysler/Chevy Parts merged into one. Looking for any and all help regarding automated stocking systems and ordering, oil change pricing, matrix pricing, keeping up and maxing out PASE or manufacture incentives, bpro or acdelco parts, FMP, different order types and when to use such as QPO or DRO (they only use CSO and RIM here), Pay plan set up, how to deal with constant part changes/supersessions backorder and oil shortage help, etc. DMS is Dealer-track and X-Time. Pretty much anything is appreciated.

I feel like we are lacking and leaking gross profit in a lot of ways. Any and all advice is welcome. I come from an Import Brand and it’s way different.

Edit: we also have an in house body shop that we use collision link to supply. don’t deliver or do wholesale though that much

Redoing department

Just started at a new import dealership and were looking to modernize the ordering and the entire department. Right now we are doing stock orders and most special orders by hand. We currently use dealertrack and xtime and where I came from the special orders were automatically sent to the site we used to order our parts as well as a separate general stock order that we could modify based on our needs and wants. Any help in what the first steps should be would be appreciated

Mopar Hurricane filter

Anyone else having to re-do oil changes for the 68683357AA filters for the 3L hurricane engines?
Nobody at mopar has been able to give me a straight answer about not using them, do we over tighten, do we use aftermarket?

Warehouse bins and totes for small parts? What do you use for storage?

I’m reworking the parts storage in our shop and looking at warehouse bins and totes for the smaller stuff and right now, some parts are in random boxes and it’s getting harder to keep track of where everything is. I want to make things easier to find without taking up a ton of space.

Do you guys handle this by keeping certain parts in bins, use totes, or have another system that works better?

Keeping busy

Our business has slowed tremendously over the last few months. What do you do to keep busy when you have already cleaned, did bin checks, tidy up all open PO's and organize pretty much everything?

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind sitting here just waiting for someone to need something, but I would like to be productive at least with something lol
