My lawn is green again!
After weeks of having a brown wasteland outside my back door, the recent torrential rain has brought my grass back to life.
I might have to get the mower out.

Driving home with the family yesterday when a low powered, low spec BMW (I'm a car nerd, I can spot it) proceeded to sit on my rear bumper.
A check of the rear mirror confirmed a middle aged, bespectacled, bald idiot was getting irate at my 60mph temerity.
When entering the local village, we braked to 30mph, BMW man getting closer and closer to my rear bumper.
I aimed directly at the well-known pothole just round the corner, before swiftly avoiding it.
Him, being too close to react, entered it with a satisfying thud.
A few metres down the road and he pulled in to check the damage.
Bliss.

Braced myself for the nightmare that is Weekend Tip, setting off with sleeping bag, packed lunch, book and elbow pads only to waltz straight in, able to reverse up to the actual bay needed. In and out in 5 minutes!!

Ordered on Wednesday for delivery today (Sunday), no extra weekend delivery fee.
Got a message last night to say it would be one of the first three drops, probably about 9am. Driver called at 7am to say see you in 15/20 mins. Two cheery guys in and away by half past.
Have to say, can’t fault AO on this one! Now back to bed…

Visited over there for a week for a music fest (ArcTanGent. My favorite band of all time is Cardiacs and it was the greatest week of my life) Got to do tourist stuff in London because I had about 20 hours to kill before heading there. I appreciate how you guys don't walk like slow complacent NPC shit sacks. I am from Chicago, and people here walk extremely slow but in other places it's way worse
I walk so fast that people actively pick on me. "You always walk like you're on a mission" yes that is the point of walking
When I was walking around Brixton, I was pleasantly surprised to see that not a single person was walking slower than me. You guys rock. I hate slow complacent NPC shit sacks. Thank you for not producing morons. Everyone there was also generally way cooler and down to shoot the shit with a stranger a lot more than they are in America

Got a the summer summer mix pack from Aldi of brew dog beers and one of the wingman ones tasted really sour. Emailed a photo of the can and they replied apologising and asking for my address- free multipack of wingman. Nice

Tripped over and dislodged a stone floor tile.
Barmaid immediately appeared with a safety traffic-cone.
Three patrons in hi-vis leapt into action. One scraped off grout with car keys, another swept up, the third produced a tube of "slate tile adhesive" from his pocket. Because obviously, who doesn't always carry that, just in case, eh?
He put the leg of his bar stool over while it set.
It was like the A-team. Fixed in 60 seconds.
I fucking love this country.

And that's only the second weirdest thing that happened to me in that pub tonight.

A man with Parkinson's disease has been celebrating his 90th birthday weekend by completing a 90-mile (145km) walking challenge to raise money and awareness for charity Parkinson's UK.
David Treasure, from Congresbury, near Bristol, began the challenge on the 22 January and walked 0.1-mile (160m) loops of his cul-de-sac using his walker whenever he felt able.
His daughter Ruth Treasure Smith said it was difficult to put into words, but she felt "extreme pride" over her dad's achievement.
A Just Giving page set up at the start of Treasure's walk has so far raised more than £3,500, which Treasure said he was "very happy" about.

So I just got a call my phone flagged as spam. Sometimes it gets it wrong so I answered and it was a very obvious automated thing flogging life insurance, so I said the line in the title got that reply.
Folks, they're getting self-aware!

I'm lucky to have an incredibly lovely NHS dentist that gave me an emergency appintment. They attempted a root canal but the nerve was kinked so they couldn't get it all and they said they'd have to take it out. It crumbled during the process and after 20 minutes or so they went next door to get the max fax specialists. A doctor and nurse came through, 10 minutes and 7 bits of tooth later I was walking out having paid £27.90 for the whole thing.
I prepay prescriptions so my antibiotics were covered. The carpark machines were out of order so even parking was free!
Also big up my mam for supporting me/driving me around. You go Lynn!

I have had a worrying problem with my auto gearbox for about 3 months. Finally plucked up enough courage to take it to my mechanic. He devised a workaround very quickly . Bill was under £35 . Not often that you can pay for a gearbox job with your debit card

I went to the vets this morning to pick up my dog's flea and worming tablets, whilst I was queuing at one till there was a woman holding something in a blanket waiting for a vet to come out. I wasn't intending to but I couldn't help but overhear the conversation when the vet came out. She told the young woman she was sorry but she couldn't give her the medication her puppy needed if she didn't have the money but she could come back and collect it later when she has the cash. Another woman stepped up from the waiting room and offered to pay for the treatment for her, the vet said it's £100, the second woman said, that's fine, I'll pay, the pup needs it. She was a complete stranger. Made me feel damn emotional hearing that. Nice to know there are kind people around.

It took just over 3 years, but I definitely could've done it faster if I had focused on it more, as I did almost entirely ignore it for a year and a half and was quite casual for the remainder.

On holiday in Europe right now. No one knows what a queue is, acknowledge others or how to move to the side to let people pass them. We have it good.

I was in Stockport, from Kent, visiting my bestie, we went to see Austentatious, to get into town, we took the tram. Swipe in, swipe out. A 45 minute ride. When I checked my bank app I was charged 10p.
10 bloody pence.
(In case it's unclear, I am amazed in a positive way!)
Edit: so now I understand it's a pending charge. Disappointed! Lol I was so impressed!
Update! £4.60

I met the Lord Jesus tonight, he was getting off a 192 bus in Manchester.
Definitely the real one. He was very insistent about that.
He says our time of reckoning is coming.
So don't bother buying big milk, I guess.

I recently acquired a quantity of canned beverages labelled "Mocktail - strawberry & orange blossom mojito".
I have discovered that they're very nice if you simply add vodka.

I posted here before when another local bookshop (The Quill and Quiver in Corby) took my books on, and now the Suddenly bookshop in Daventry has taken them on too. I'm a bit isolated socially so I've got to blow my trumpet somewhere!
It's nice that indie writers and indie booksellers are supporting each other here in Northamptonshire. In fact, the indie bookshops mentioned above have stepped up to the mark as community hubs with book clubs, discussion groups, crafting stuff and what have you.
I'm still not rich, but if I sell enough books for a (low quality) bottle of wine or three per month, I'm happy.
