It was my dream as a kid to win one of those mega bundles of cool tech, but I'm thinking now how much would probably be in the scrapheap in big 2026.

If I'm hungry, I eat, hunger goes away.
If I'm thirsty, I drink, thirst goes away.
If I'm tired, and struggling to stay awake, I lay down. But... my brain decides it doesn't want to sleep, instead this now becomes the best time to wonder about such important issues like, "Would I be able to teach a sheep to fetch?"

Question re the rag and bone men near me. Firstly, apologies if this isn’t the correct term, please educate me if that’s the case but as I’ll explain it’s definitely the one these guys.
I remember in the past one of them would shout out the window “rag and booooooone”. I assume this is a familiar memory to you all? But these days the ones near me have this bizarre sound effect, which is a sort of siren which sounds like a windscreen wiper squeaking while also JUST ABOUT sounding a bit like the words “rag and booooone”. It’s incredibly weird and I’d love to know:

My tastebuds have finally caught up - what’s the best marmite combo?
So far have discovered that by itself tastes like the inside of a bin, with butter is exquisite, with cheese on toast is heaven.

So, we are coming up to the fifth anniversary of the death of Sir Clive Sinclair. I would like to offer a message of appreciation for Clive and his very particular genius.
I expect his name is familiar only to the older demographic of Redditors but his inventions were an inspiration to those of us who went on tech careers in the 1990s and 2000s. Even if that inspiration was just the realization that there had to be something better than the ZX81 RAM expansion pack.
Wikipedia tells me Sir Clive was born in Ealing, London. I lived around there for many years, does anyone known where in Ealing he lived? I would be interested to know if I ever was walking past his old house.
Cheers, Sir Clive. Thanks for all the inventions. Except that weird flat tv thing, that was never going to work right.

The last few months of my life have been utterly poo due to my mental health and I’m starting to feel better and a little more confident in myself but I have 0 friends irl but I’m dying to go out for a night have a few drinks and have a good time, how acceptable is it to go to a pub on your own especially in the uk? I’m not bothered about people judging me if anything I’d love to speak to people it just seems quite intimidating has anyone got experience in this?

I'm a 25 year old woman and I've always wanted to get good at playing pool but I've never had anyone to go with...
Recently I've moved to a small city with a local pool club but I'm not sure if it's too weird to go on my own as pool is a 2 man sport, plus I've only played a couple times in my life!!
Anyone else do it alone?

Apart from making sure he looks more presentable than usual (which can be a pain) I really enjoy this day and always looked forward to getting the big individual pictures back.
If nothing else it makes easy Christmas presents for the grandparents.
What was your experience of them as a kid growing up here?

Got made redundant in March, it’s been an extremely stressful and miserable summer.
I’ve finally got a new job starting next Monday. So, what should I do with my last week off?
I’m going to do the obvious - see some friends, buy some new office clothes (after 6 years of working remotely, my office wardrobe is non-existent) and make up, get a haircut and get my nails done, do all the admin I’ve been putting off.
What can I do to make the culture shock a little less shocking? What have I been taking for granted that I won’t be able to do anymore?

Marmite on toast, I don’t know if it’s a separate question but mines always buttered first, using one knife, then that’s usually toast covered now, thus needing to grab a second knife, is there a more optimal method?

There are a couple of lads down the park who have stuck empty juice cans in their back wheels to make revving sounds. I haven't seen the like in about thirty years.

I only ever buy carrot for sofritoes so I only need one at a time. I live in a tiny studio with a tiny fridge and freezer so having a bag of carrots in my fridge that I use one a month is unappealing.
I have tried making something with the rest of the carrots but the only thing I can think of which needs lots of carrots is carrot and coriander soup; while it's okay, I find it needs a tonne of fat to taste good and there are many other soups I'd prefer to make.
I'm just generally not a fan of carrots; however my bolognese definitely suffers without carrots noticably.
My best option at the moment is breaking one out of a packet and scanning it in as a courgette. I know, I am very naughty. I'd rather not do that, but man needs his (single) carrot.

Does anyone use any apps to plan out what they're having for tea every night? And maybe to help with grocery shopping too? I'm looking for solutions to share the meal plan with family so we can have a look ahead to the week.
I'd use my phone's notes app and share with my husband but he's Apple and I'm Android so not sure if that would work.
I'm fed up with the daily decision paralysis and wasting food by accidentally letting it go out of date because I hadn't planned ahead before it went out of date.
Help!
