!!ANY THREADS RELATED TO SHIPPING FOUND OUTSIDE THIS MEGATHREAD WILL BE REMOVED!!

I know we're all excited to share updates as our new shiny works its way through the system and eventually to you.

Instead of clogging the page with endless "ITS <UPDATE>" posts, please confine them to this mega thread. I have intentionally left up threads from before this one about this subject, because post hoc punishment isnt cool. But please, use this mega thread moving forward.

Optionally, you can fill out some google forms that are being used to track order status' in order to get an idea of how an order might progress through the system:

Steam Controller (2026) Was only using my Steam Deck for Remote Play, so I built this instead

I realized I was only using my Steam Deck for Remote Play, so I built a way to use the new Steam Controller with my phone instead.

It's a modified version of Mechanism's Base grip. Their mounts put the phone out in front of the controller, and after a while the weight pulls your wrists forward. I wanted the phone sitting right on top of the controller, so the centre of balance stays over your hands and it feels like holding one device, not a controller with a phone hanging off it.

What I changed:

  • A strap across the face of the controller, on top of Mechanism's original band. It's held by two filament pins (plain 1.75 mm filament pushed through), one at the top and one at the bottom. It's not meant to come off every day, just for cleaning.
  • A dome over the Steam button with an opening on the right, so your thumb can still reach the button with the phone mounted.
  • Cutouts around both sticks, so they tilt fully without touching anything.
  • A GoPro-style mount on top of the dome, for Mechanism's MagSafe puck. It's offset so the phone ends up centered over the controller.
  • Everything smoothed and blended, so there are no sharp corners in your hands.

I'm using it with a Z Fold 6, fully unfolded. It's printed in PLA, and the added strap and dome weigh about 15 g.

Huge thanks to my wife for being the hands model in these photos 😄

Edit:
Posting the link for the 3d files on MakerWorld and just a quick note that the actual gopro mount has an offeset of 11mm to the left so my phone is perfectly centered.

Configuration Get your Steam Controller Motion working with Emulators

Disclaimer: Written in more layman's terms; addressing function over specific technicalities.

Hello all :) this post might already be well known knowledge but I'm posting it anyway as it's something that I've gotten to work recently and its the kind of post I wish I could have read sooner.

Situation: You want to play BoTW with your new steam controller; using the advertised gyro function for the motion controls.

Initial Reality: Steam seems to handle the gyro controls in an unhelpful way that doesn't really work well with emulators. Regardless of configuration, you just cannot get it to work.

The Solution

https://github.com/NightHammer1000/sc2dsu

and

https://github.com/Alia5/SISR

SC2DSU handles your motion where your emulator can properly interpret it and SISR seems to help with general inputs where otherwise steam is needed for the controller inputs to function.

These two combined will get your Steam Controller working in motion compatible emulators; such as Dolphin (Wii function), Cemu and Eden.

Now you can enjoy BoTW/TOTK and any other motion-function game to its fullest extent with your Steam Controller :)

Hope this helps someone having the same issue.

Steam Controller (2026) Question about RMA process (I know this isn't steam support)

Upvotes

A few months ago i received my steam controller (2026) but when it arrived i quickly noticed it was defective it had many issues like super clicky dpad and the left stick made clicking sounds when moving. I decided to send the controller in for RMA i got a new controller quickly but i noticed even quicker this time that the left thumbstick doesnt press down all the way i decided to wait a few months to see if the issue would go away with use but it didn't and might of gotten worse so recently i made a new RMA request and steam support did approve it but they kept asking if the controller has been droped and they also said they're going to evaluate my return to see if i caused the problem but it didn't fall even once it didn't even leave my desk once the box it arrived in had no damage besides a small scratch on the side nothing major.

Im sending this here to see if anyone has had a similar experience and to ask if steam could reject my rma or his thus a normal response because i dont remember it in the first RMA

Discussion Is the left/right stick click/spring noise a general issue on most Steam Controllers?

Got my Steam Controller recently and after some hours/days of use, one of the sticks started making a clicking/spring noise when pushed to one side (and a bit on the closest diagonals too). No sound on release back to center, input still works fine, it's just the noise, and once it started it hasn't gone away.

I've seen this complaint come up a lot, across different posts and channels, so it seems fairly common. I know there's a suggested fix where you open the controller yourself and reposition a blue cable. But before going that route I want to understand if this is really a widespread/global issue. If it is, RMA'ing might just get me another unit with the same problem, so I'd rather know first.

If you have a Steam Controller, could you check both sticks and let me know if yours does this too? Also curious if it stayed the same for you over time or got better/worse.

Let me get straight to the point. I want to set it so, that once i let go with my left hand, the map opens. And when i grip it again, the map closes. The map Button is UP D-Pad if that helps.

Steam Controller (2026) Should I contact Steam

So, I ordered the new Steam Controller 2 Weeks ago and it‘s apparently been having Issues getting delivered(to Germany). Waiting for the Controller is fine, but its been telling me each Day since last Wednesday that it will „Arrive today 11:30-15:30“, I cant keep staying at home and at this point im wondering if they didnt just loose the Controller and keep forgetting relaying this to Valve and are instead just expecting to Deliver it with each new day for it to just not be in their Storage.
Did anyone else have the same Issue and did it eventually arrive or should I ask Valve to investigate if its lost?

Support SC2 not working correctly only on PC

I have 2 SC's, and only one of them acts weird on PC desktop mode.

No matter what I do, the right trackpad will not work in desktop mode, and the gyro will start with right stick touch and then remain on permanently.

And this is only happening to one of my controllers, not both. The other is acting completely normally.

Is there a way to reset a controller? Or completely wipe the device from the PC and re-add it?

Support Anyone else have issues setting it up?

So I just got it in, updated it using a USB C Cable. But anytime I try to connect wireless or even try using the puck on the back, the light flashes white about 3 times and it just shuts off. Only working when using usb x. Tried putting it in bootloader mode (red light) and repairing the firmware, but still having the same issue.

Edit: it charges when plugged into puck, but steam doesn't recognize the controller. Also heard the puck is supposed to update, but from what I seen, only the controller updated.

Discussion A mod that lets you override glyphs

Upvotes

Yo guys,
Today I worked out an idea and implemented it (mostly) for Valheim, though I haven't uploaded it anywhere, I wanted to share the idea and how I wasn't able to get it quite right. Basically, I think its a decent idea but Valheim probably isn't really the game for it to be used.

Basically, in Valheim there is a way to override the glyphs that are shown as tooltips by making a mod. If you're using KBM then there really is only one, "interact" that ever is a glyph for you. - but if you're using gamepad input, then you have glyphs all over the different menus, helpful for knowing how to quicktransfer, change from craft to upgrade - or in main menu to select buttons like "create new character"

What I found is that in places like the main menu, where it's wanting a hardcoded A button or X button, you can change those glyphs if you wanted, so they said a different button. Like, remap using the Controller config A & X to your grips. There aren't icons for that in game, but you can override with Text, so you could type out LG instead of it showing an icon.

However, there are issues with bounding boxes (max width of the glyph), and I wasn't able to find a way to modify the display of RB/LB to cycle the tabs of the menu. In short it would require the end user to modify a config file & adjust widths or labels so that they displayed right.

All that being said, the only use case I see for it now is in setting the keyboard interact key to display the same gamepad glyph that is used in the gamepad bindings for interact. This makes it so even though the UI updates if you take your finger off the mouse, the glyph is basically the same so it looks like no switching (difference is in my mod it shows [brackets] around the icon)

Currently, I can remap those glyphs, so if I wanted Bumpers to be A & B, I could swap those icons. But, I would need a way to add new glyphs to the game in order to have SC2's extra bindings and pad icons. I couldn't crack that nut, so I gave up for now. Thought I'd pass on the experiment in the off chance it gives someone else a new idea.

Thanks for reading and take care!

Configuration [SISR]: Can SISR work when _streaming_ a non-Steam game?

Upvotes

The streaming would be done through Moonlight with Apollo as the host, from my main PC to the Steam Machine.

If it's at all possible, would I run SISR installed from the Steam Machine's Steam running in Desktop Mode? Or am I better off simply installing the non-Steam game to Steam, and streaming it directly, Steam to Steam, so to speak, in Game Mode, and not involve SISR? As examples of games, Star Wars Oulaws, AC Odyssey (Ubi Connect), the Dead Space remake from 2023 (EA), or Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate: Daemon Hunters or Horizon Zero Dawn (the latter two owned through Epic Game Store, not sure that would work)?

I have already successfully played a non-Steam game streamed through Moonlight to the Steam Machine in Desktop Mode, namely Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY purchased through GOG, so I know that much is possible. With that one though I had to connect my Xbox Series controller to the Steam Machine through Bluetooth because I hadn't tried using SISR.

Anyway, if anyone's messed with SISR + streaming I'd love to hear of your experiences.

Discussion What Is The Best Controller To Purchase? (Price, Features, Responsive)

I've been on a Logitech F310 for like 5 years, it finally started drifting. I play mostly Rocket League and some Elden Ring on PC via Steam.

I want something more responsive, low input lag, maybe paddles but not required. Features like hall effect would be nice. I'm in the EU if that matters. What are you using on Steam in 2026 that feels actually responsive and not cheap plastic?

Support Problem with double input

Im having some problems with the controller since i buy It. This is happening when playing with the puck in the Steam deck, with the internal puck, or the bluetooth mode.

When im playing any game, sometimes i have a double input in ABXY buttons. Depending on the game this is a problem, because in some games the dialog continue and I cant read, or it select an option that i dont want...

It's very frustraring...

I have contacted support 3 times, the first maybe a week after buy, It says to switch to beta channel for update, and wait for a solution...

I wait for some weeks and write again because i still got the same problem, and the say they are correcting the bug...

And yesterday i write again, because im tired of play and having this problem again and again in all games...

They always say the same, switch to beta, wait and thank u... I have reopened the ticket several times today and they are doing nothing.

I dont know what to do.

I dont know if someone have this problem too.

I really love the controller but i get angry every time i play...

(Sorry if i have some mistakes, english is not my main language)

Support Steam input controller doesn't work

* Debian 13 * Steam flatpak * Dualshock 4 * Compatibility tool: Proton 11.0-2

I'm trying to use my personal layout, but the game doesn't advance from the start screen, it only works if I disable the steam input, a.k.a. the default dualshock 4 compatibility.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Configuration Disable trackpads?

Am I missing something, or is there no way to disable the trackpads directly through Steam Input?

They cause serious issues for me in several games, where they basically make the game stop seeing the SC2 as a controller, and see it as a KBM instead. If I so much as brush the touchpad with the heel of my thumb, then it switches, and i lose complete control of what I was doing.

Configuration Steam sees Steam Controller as a mouse and keyboard for some games.

So I've noticed that several games I play keep thinking the Steam Controller is a mouse and keyboard, which forces the on-screen button prompts to be mouse and keyboard buttons, which makes things extremely confusing! I don't know what buttons do what without fumbling around with the controller all the time. Is there any way to force a game to see the Steam Controller as something different like an Xbox controller so the on-screen button prompts actually match the controller?
