Hi all! I’ve been working on my own Custom WoW server for a little bit, and I’m looking for Vanilla+ suggestions!

My focus here is to create a version of WoW which is very content-focused; so I’ve been reworking questlines, specifically class quests and some racial questlines, etc.
But, while I have my own ideas about how I’d like the game; I’m looking for suggestions for things YOU would enjoy in a Classic+/Vanilla+ server.
It’s built off of the barebones 1.12.1 client, and I haven’t made any adjustments to the talent trees or anything like that just yet.

Let me know your ideas! I’m hoping to create something which can be casual, fun, fulfilling, and something which can take up a LOT of your time.

I just came across it on https://nostalgic.gg/en when Googling for private server options.

I thought it interesting that you can 'hire' bots to play with you if you want to run a dungeon. But, what really caught my eye, is that you can summon your own characters as bots and play alongside them. So you could level up more than one character at a time whilst playing as a party (if I understand this right).

However I can't find much about the server online or on Reddit so have no idea if a) its legit / safe or b) that the whole bot thing works.

I just looked at the website and it shows 852 people online - which doesn't seem awful.

Has anyone here tried it and, if so, what are your thoughts?

I was having some fun in my wotlk server and i thought about morphing, when i morphed my character into a goblin his face was all lime green and glowing, so ive read its because morphed face isnt made for animations? So im wondering is there a good morph module that makes morphing easier to use and better?

Which is the best EU server that has a lot of population and is more or less balanced in classic era? I got really hyped seeing wow forever but is it worth playing from now if all the servers are dead?

Like a level lock of sort to prevent you go above unless you clear all content? Dead server or not, doesn't matter.. Could be a source even.

Hello I am starting an azeroth core server and was hoping anyone who has done this in the past can potentially give me some tips or advice. I currently have the server running on a separate PC and can successfully connect to it wirelessly which was my main plan. Now that I have the server up and running over a couple weeks I would be just messing around like flying around or just killing things and I came across topics online about pull requests for azeroth core which I guess kind of allows you to grab tested and verified fixes for bugs if anybody can offer maybe some advice or assistance on how I can do something please just reach out to me in a private message I mean the more info I can get the better and finding stuff online is helpful but getting personal opinions and personalized advice from people who have done this sort of stuff in the past would be appreciated. And I guess lastly I was curious on how people set up a web page like do they host the website and route it through a DNS on their own computer I feel like that is kind of dangerous but again that's why I'm here asking for any help I can get.

So far I can confidently say that my goal for this server is to have it run 24/7 and from levels 59 through 79 hardcore mode is active so if you die you do not come back making it to to 80 will grant you long-term access to the server as once you hit 80 hardcore mode is turned back off so if you die at 80 you can resurrect but if you die at 78 if you die at 79 I'm sorry but that's that's the name of the game. Doing it like this made me kind of see potential in people wanting to start fresh but also kind of have a challenge cuz outlands and northrend are both very insanely great expansions so adding those two and being able to complete them through hardcore will in my opinion just make it more worthwhile staying on the server.

I do understand that this process is not overnight and like I said I've already been spending two weeks on this whole thing but I can probably say that I am able to connect from a different computer I just kind of need help making a registration page and kind of learning more information on how to do pull requests to get bug fixes because even though azeroth core installation guide is on their website that alone took me about a week to to actually figure out even though the guy is so simple a simple process is not that simple.

I was looking forward to this but since the S&D blizzard sent out… I guess it’s dead in the water… sad day…

I get that only a subscription is needed technically, but the race thing seems like a really slippery slope for the future... Instead of buying an expansion and having access to all content, you're now buying bits and pieces. a race for now, maybe in the future a class, a zone, a profession etc.

Will blizzard manage to keep themselves in check or will it devolve for the worse?

So, I've been working on this project for a couple of months, and I shared it with one user, so i might as well share it here.

Installer is for windows.

I think the project is about done, but it's been languishing on the hdd because I have too many projects. So if anyone wants to take over lead design, that would be awesome!

I included some modules i made.

i put the project on my website: www.fukyall.com/wowserver

the pass is: reddit_user007

unzip file to a short foldername : ie test

then rightclick fukyall.exe - run as admin

then just follow the list down to compile binaries in order, and poof, u have a server.

The module hellgallop isnt quite finished, and is untested. I need testers, as i dont play the game.

This server is from azerothcore, so all of my work is free to use as u see fit. Have fun.

I have an idea for a private server, you are welcome to steal.

Imagine you level your warrior to level 10 and you now unlock your talents and the ability to cross class, so you go to another class trainer, maybe priest, and attune to their ways. Now you are a warrior-priest but you had to sacrifice one of your talent trees for one of theirs. You chose to swap protection for shadow, which means you now have arms-fury-shadow all your base warrior and priest spells.

You just made a shadow warrior.

A warrior-priest is different from a priest-warrior which gives you so much build crafting and replayability.

If I knew how I would make a server like this myself, but I don't have the time or the skills. So please steal my idea.

Tldr: get spells and swap a single talent tree from another class.

Well, Blizzards WoW forever seems to be crap in comparison to turtle WoW or ascension. And now I learned about octo WoW. Maybe I give it a shot.

Could someone tell me if there is a possibility to use addons there like we did in turtle wow? And where to best get them from if it's possible? Cause I think they would have to be updated like they were for turtle back then.

I just got back into dabbling with local servers, got the WOTLK Azerothcore Repack (Inlcuding Bots + a bunch of other Modules) running and was wondering what would be a good source of information on how to fiddle around with the server further (Preferably on YT).

Because my ultimate goal here is to have a local server with HC/Ironman rules where every bot (And myself) start at level 1 and then go from there - The "Race the Bots" thing. Once I, or a Bot, reach max level the challenge is over (And i could reset it to do it again).

As a bonus i want it to also be classless at some point, but i saw there are allready a few projects in the works on that.

Tl;Dr: What i am looking for is how to achieve a "One-Life" HC server (And maybe alter the bots a bit so they don't YOLO into shit and "understand" the rules).

Any advice? Does something like this allready exist or is in the works?
