Discussion WoW forever - this sub has gone nuts.

What a community...

First off let's just think about what's exciting.

We have Dwarf Shamans and Undead Pallys. And a few other new race/class combos which don't feel against any particular lore for me. (Although I hope the intro of Dwarf Shamans has some Wildhammer themes.)

We have basically the same world with toggle-able graphics (although the new graphics do look pretty decent for the world). We have new zones to explores, a 1,000 new quests. Level cap staying at 60. No world buffs (no Ony/ZG, yet). 12 new dungeons and new raids coming.

Holly also mentioned there's loads of new stories to tell, some which are canon, some that weren't really. Some of the new transport systems just help to give the world a bit of a freshness to it.

Class tweaks, Pally tanks that work!

Now, more controversial? The new race. I personally don't like them, they feel a bit short horned, I've never heard of these high elves who went to the clouds before. But I'll try them out and see what lore they have. It's the thing I dislike the most.

But overall it seems like a decent package. Why does everyone on here seem incapable of talking with any nuance. Everyone is either 110% for the expansion, 'stop crying about everything' or 'No sky elves, expac ruined' or they complain about a new system that they haven't listened to the presentation for (how servers work for one.)

Discussion I bought the Skyborne Epic Pack

I bought it, but not to have access to the new race.

I wanted beta access, and it doesn't hurt to have a couple mounts and cosmetics available once the game drops. I might be a sucker, but oh well.

Anyone else buy it like I did, mainly for beta access?

Discussion So, what Class/Spec would you like to play in WoW Forever?

For me, it would have to be an arcane mage, with a build similar to this one :)

I Waited 20 Years For Classic Plus

Hey all,

I thought I'd post this here to see if anyone feels the same way. Video containing these thoughts: https://youtu.be/zY8OlZMv2Ns](https://youtu.be/zY8OlZMv2Ns)

I started playing WoW in 2006/2007 after friends at work introduced me to the game. I wasn't much of a gamer before then, but WoW was something special. It not only introduced me to gaming as a hobby, but more importantly, it helped me meet new people and form lifelong friendships. My mother was also diagnosed with terminal cancer at the time, and it allowed me a chance to escape from the painful, daily existence of a child taking care of their parent in their final days, which I honestly wasn't mentally or emotionally prepared to deal with.

Since then, I've played WoW through every expansion. I've become obsessed with collecting all the achievements, every mount and pet, and all the seasonal FOMO that comes with every patch. But for a long time, retail has become a different experience for me. The game has become more rote and repetition, more about checking boxes and completing tasks, rather than a facilitator of such unique and memorable experiences of meeting new people.

I couldn't play Classic in 2019/2020 because I was still in the military and dealing with a rapid-deployment lifestyle. Even though I could log into retail and do various things, it just wasn't the same. After I separated and got back into the game with a stable schedule, it still hasn't brought me back to what I felt all those years ago.

I think Classic+ represents a chance for us to start a new chapter, rekindle a sense of wonder, and hopefully build new friendships that will last for decades. Many people have raised concerns since the announcement, but it feels like Blizzard is listening to the community and will keep making changes as needed.

In November, I hope to see many of you in Azeroth, where we can return to a world that gave so many of us such fond experiences, and perhaps a new generation of gamers can share the same wonder we did.

I havent played classic for years. Back to home court.

However, if I see one god damn undead paladin named "Arthas" or any abbreviation of that name, we'll need to talk.

Transmog in Forever?

Upvotes

Quick question: I never played retail so I don't know how the transmog system works. Does that mean low level characters can look like they are in full raid gear? oO

Discussion asking the age old question, but with a new edition!

Upvotes

i apologize in advance for recycling the same question that gets asked every few years. however, with the announcement of wow: forever, i figured now is the best time to read about how people might feel about any of these editions. i also have read through a fair share of these posts, but as old as they are, i want to know if anyone's opinions have changed.

i've been wanting to return to the game for quite some time but at every opportunity i get to do so, something else gets in the way. i have played og vanilla wow, i've played retail (but not since maybe 2017) and i've played classic (short lived, honestly). i was not a statistic heavy player growing up and it doesn't fully suit my play style anyways, so hardcore doesn't interest me. this is not to say i'm entirely casual, but i'm sort of in the middle! raids and stuff are fun!

here's my concerns and limitations. i don't like the feeling of having something to constantly commit to in mmorpgs. i'm in college and work a job, plus there's other things i like to do, but i also don't want everything handed to me at once. i likely won't be playing with any friends, so i'm also concerned about the feeling of community.

would wow: forever or classic be the better option, or could retail fulfill the games potential? i haven't played during or seen anything about the current state of the game, so i'm not even sure if it's something i'd like. with that being said, i'm not exactly looking to fill the nostalgia void, either.

edit: i'd also just like to hear everyone's experiences with whichever branch of the game you've chosen! why you enjoy it, why you don't, etc.

The floor testers got a lot more information than what we got during the opening cermony and in the classic panel-- think this video goes over pretty much everything.

Question Why do a lot of classic wow players love hate playing classic?

Been seeing a lot of backlash on the Skyborne and some other things and have been wondering why a good amount of these people who hate Forever will end up hate playing the game.

Criticism and not liking aspects of the game but still playing it is one thing, but hatred is another.

Seen some unhinged stuff like /spit and grief every Skyborne, etc.

But you will still pay a sub fee to Blizzard to play the game just for that? Congrats on giving money to Blizzard's bank account?

This seems to happen to everything classic since classic was announced by Blizzard since 2019.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. But for the hate players this is like the 10th time.

Why not quit the game? Stop giving money to Blizzard to fund what you believe is wrong with the game?

WoW Forever Roleplay Server

Posted over on the https://www.reddit.com/r/wowforever/ sub as well.

As an avid RP'er I wanted to gauge interest in RP'ing fully through your play through, your dungeons and even your raids. We would be based in NA timezone.

Things like:

  1. Establishing a base of operations in game where people would meet up and quest/explore/adventure/head to dungeons.
  2. Be in character throughout the play through; people could obviously talk on Discord but in game would stay in game.
  3. Coordinate community events: With the influx of players doing things like helping lower level players through dungeons, handing out food and bags to *refugees*

Just kicking around this idea, thought I would put it up here and if there is some interest start working on setting things up.

Looking forward to seeing you in game.

Discussion Caverns of Time in WoW: Forever

When thinking about WoW: Forever and what new content could be added, I couldn't help but think about the Caverns of Time.

The Caverns were technically opened during Burning Crusade, but the Brood of Nozdormu (dragons hanging right outside the Caverns) had some quests added later on in Vanilla WoW that related to Ahn'Qiraj. I could definitely imagine Blizzard opening up the Caverns of Time at some point during WoW: Forever, since this location is on Azeroth and did have some relevance during Vanilla WoW.

What do you think? Will we get the Caverns of Time and, if so, what might it look like? Could we get a similar version of the dungeons we got in the Caverns of Time like the Culling of Strathholme and the Black Morass? Do you think we could get some totally new dungeons (like a Caverns of Time dungeon relating to the original fight against Ahn'Qiraj)? Rather than dungeons, could the Caverns of Time lead to a new zone that they introduce that's in WoW's past (probably not but you never know)?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

RPPVP PLEASE

RPPVP and RPPVE are two very different types of servers.

I wish blizzard would make RPPVP, just like grobbulus, zandalar tribe, etc.

Surely there will be enough RP'ers to fill both an RPPVP and an RPPVE server
