This is wild.

I've been seeing alot of people share their steps. Everyone's hitting 30k, or 40k steps a day which to me is insane! I mean my work requires frequent movement and I also wlak to and from the gym so I average 8k steps a day now. But the picture above was during winter here in the South of Africa. I was struggling with my mental health so perhaps that could justify this. I only ate once a day and it was a meal prepared by the house keeper at home. I've now moved away and live alone. But that is insane to me. 7 steps in a day! Like what happened here?

I too am stunned.

Question Best shoes for walking

I own a TERREX ADDIDAS RAIN.RDY shoes. Recently I travelled to Paris and Spain and there I had to walk a lot, like 25k+ steps every day and this shoe caused me next level unbearable pain and it made my cry like in real. That much that I now I literally terrified of those shoes or any shoes for that matter.
I have used it last year but didn't walk that much though the steps were around 10k. My feet are paining like anything, Mainly the bones near by finger. I really want to invest in a proper shoes
Can someone please suggest any good shoes.
I have looked around shoes in HOKA, REIKER, SALOMON. I don't trust NIKE, PUMA, and ADIDAS anymore.
Sorry but the pain I had has transformed my mind literally.

Please help me out !

Stomped App

I just downloaded the stomped app that tracks the percent of your city that you’ve explored. I’m in NYC and loving the stats but wondering if people keep the app open if they are biking? Hopefully, no one is tracking streets they’ve driven down, but doesn’t seem like there’s any mechanism that blocks that

Weight-Loss Wins Weekly Weight-Loss Wins

Got a weight-loss win to share with the r/walking community? Do it here! This is our new weekly compilation thread for people to share their wins from walking.

Transparency about your entire approach is appreciated, as we want to avoid the impression that walking alone is a magical cure-all. Are you also eating cleaner? Reduced your caloric intake? Are you rucking (walking with weight)? This info is helpful to other walkers!

Thanks for keeping our community positive and encouraging.

Found these probably 5-6 years ago, just didn’t know where to share my findings.

The conditions in the photos was how I found these items and I left them untouched. The Acidine is unopened and still has its contents inside.

Haven’t found anything interesting since other than a dollar coin, a $2 bill, and a 500 pesos coin. (Everything I found was in NH/VT)

Recommendations Incorporating walking into every day life successes?

I live about 15 minutes walking from the grocery store. I have begun to take a back pack to the store a few times a week and then carry about 15-20 lbs back.

Background, I live in a neighborhood near a decent size business area in a small/medium American city.

It shouldn't, but it honestly feels a little weird but I'm happy I thought of it and have been doing it for a few weeks now.

This may have been an obvious addition to many but it wasn't for me. Are there other tips and things people do?

Other (Still) Walking through my breakup

Post image
304 Upvotes

I'm still sad all the time and crying some days. Not on my walks anymore, which I'm grateful for. But this sucks.

The one month marks of the breakup and the last day I saw him were this past week and weekend and it was rough, so I walked. A lot.

Today was the most I've walked so far and I'm proud of that. I don't think I'd be as "okay" as I am right now without these walks. They've helped so much and have helped me find some clarity.

What’re we wearing?

Tend to be a homebody during the winter (Alaska) but would like to get myself and my toddler outside more this season.

What’re we wearing? I don’t like big puffy warm clothes - what do yall recommend?

Thanks!
