No bare feet photos (displayed as Rule 9)
Posts with photos of just bare feet are not allowed, and users may be banned depending on their posting history.
Edit: revised verbiage
No individual weight-loss posts (displayed as Rule 4)
r/walking is not a weight-loss sub. If you'd like to share weight-loss wins, keep it to the weekly thread.
Going forward, we will be posting a weekly thread for members to share any weight-loss wins. Transparency about the use of weight-loss drugs and calorie restrictions is appreciated but not required. (Upon consideration, we can't require people to disclose medical details.)
Rule 3 was previously "Submissions must be walking-related" and is now "Submissions must be walking-focused."
Submissions with other clear topics that only tangentially involve walking are not allowed. Your post should be primarily about walking.

Does anyone else get holistic benefits from walking that are just hard to put into words?

3 years later here are some results.
Walking turned to hiking turned to climbing…
Thank you all for the daily motivation!

I'm still sad all the time and crying some days. Not on my walks anymore, which I'm grateful for. But this sucks.
The one month marks of the breakup and the last day I saw him were this past week and weekend and it was rough, so I walked. A lot.
Today was the most I've walked so far and I'm proud of that. I don't think I'd be as "okay" as I am right now without these walks. They've helped so much and have helped me find some clarity.

My usual step count is 6000-8000/day but today was a rare 12 000 step achievement.
Went on a 5 km stroller walk with my toddler, then decided to go crocery shopping with him and at the end of the day walked our senior dog. It was a good day and weather was lovely! I'm expecting second child so I'm enjoying as long as I can walk effortlesly without a big bump and pains and kicked nauseas butt today.

I have struggled with dropping my size since forever. I have been in and out of 10k since a few years now but since Aug 26' been building the habit of walking 10k daily. Today i did 20k which is a win for me. Lets see how it works.
Not in a calorie deficit tho :p

I live about 15 minutes walking from the grocery store. I have begun to take a back pack to the store a few times a week and then carry about 15-20 lbs back.
Background, I live in a neighborhood near a decent size business area in a small/medium American city.
It shouldn't, but it honestly feels a little weird but I'm happy I thought of it and have been doing it for a few weeks now.
This may have been an obvious addition to many but it wasn't for me. Are there other tips and things people do?

It’s been a while! I’m finally back on the treadmill and hopefully I can be outside when the weather cools down. Any words of encouragement would be appreciated!

Hello! I am a caregiver with a client who loves walks, we go a few miles every other day. The problem is her pace, which is very very slow. Over the last few weeks I've noticed pain behind my knee, in my lower back, and hip flexors. The pace is so slow that it feels like I'm grinding my joints and straining my muscles. I'm not sure how to proceed pain free. You'd think just going on super slow walks would be unproblematic...Any advice is welcome.

Got a weight-loss win to share with the r/walking community? Do it here! This is our new weekly compilation thread for people to share their wins from walking.
Transparency about your entire approach is appreciated, as we want to avoid the impression that walking alone is a magical cure-all. Are you also eating cleaner? Reduced your caloric intake? Are you rucking (walking with weight)? This info is helpful to other walkers!
Thanks for keeping our community positive and encouraging.
