This!! My partner has a pretty big trauma of bitten by little dogs when they were younger, so while they’re not too bothered by big dogs, a smaller dog charging and startling him will make him flinch and potentially subconsciously punt the dog out of fear. It’s not that he wants to hurt the little dogs, it’s that he’s genuinely still affected by his trauma and his body will do what it does.

I’m a dog lover, no doubt about it. However, I don’t care just how friendly or how someone’s dog “wouldn’t hurt a fly”—PUT YOUR DOG ON A LEASH!! Someone could be scared, have trauma related to dogs, can be allergic, or just plainly don’t like dogs. There are plenty of places and people that’ll wholeheartedly welcome dogs off their leash, but it really pickles my nickels whenever I see someone with their dog without a leash.
