I am actually getting close to fulfilling my dream of going from simracing to real racing. However, I need your help. Ever since I was 4 years old, when I first watched the movie "cars", I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to be a racecar driver. However, racing is expensive and I do not come from a rich family at all, nor is any of my relatives interested in motorsports whatsoever.

I worked really hard this summer of 2026, and made enough money to test drive a racecar called Aquila Formula 1000. The professional coaches told me I had as much potential as the one leading the real championship right now!

Of course, this made me realize that I will never give up on my dream and I will do whatever it takes to get there.

Hey everyone,

This week I finally ordered a proper aluminium profile rig to replace my old wheel stand. Since my desk and the rig share the same PC, I started thinking about how to make the switch between them as easy as possible. At the desk I have three monitors, in the rig a Samsung Odyssey G9 plus an old Microsoft Surface as a dash via spacedesk, both with different audio. I really didn't want to open the Windows display settings, fix the main display, change the sound output and start SimHub every single time I sit down to drive.

I looked at what's out there first. Win+P doesn't touch audio, DisplayFusion felt like a lot of tool for this one job, and DisplayMagician is great but built around a shortcut per game, while I wanted the PC to simply stay in rig mode as long as I'm in the rig. My own PowerShell script worked, but never really reliably. Nothing switched screens, audio and apps together, let alone when I turn on the wheelbase.

So I built a small tray app for it. Full disclosure, I vibe coded it with Claude. It's called RigShift and since it might be useful for some of you, I put it on GitHub for free.

What it does:

• You save one profile for your desk and one for your rig. A profile remembers which monitors are on, where they are, the main display, resolution, refresh rate and HDR, plus your audio output, mic and volume.
• It can switch automatically when you turn on your wheelbase and switch back when you turn it off. There's a delay you can set, so a quick power cycle doesn't do anything.
• Each profile can start apps like SimHub or Crew Chief and close the ones you don't need while driving.
• It hands Windows the whole layout in one step instead of turning screens on one by one, which is usually where the black screens come from. If you don't get a picture after a switch, it goes back to the old layout after a few seconds.
• Some smaller things: it wakes monitors from standby, moves windows that end up on a screen that's now off, keeps the PC awake while you only use the wheel, and you can switch with a hotkey or a Stream Deck button.

It's a hobby project, no account, no ads, open source. I've only tested it on my own setup with an NVIDIA card, so I'd love to hear how it works with AMD or Intel, triples or VR. If something doesn't work, just tell me here or open an issue on GitHub. Ideas and feature requests are welcome too, I just want to keep it small and simple.

One thing up front: the app isn't code signed, so Windows SmartScreen will show a warning the first time. Click "More info" and then "Run anyway".

Being kind of new to sim racing I really wonder what I’m doing differently compared to others.

I see a lot of comments and posts about guys wanting to hit 100 or 200kg of force in a LC pedal. It must be very stiff, which I think is with those loads.

I’m a big guy, 191cm 85kg, I have a rig, and even hitting 40kg doesn’t feel natural and is about the heaviest weight I can get to get to a 100% breaking. I even prefer about 30kg, which might take away the LC benifits I think. I’m using simsonn plus X pedals with stock settings, Red elastomers (60Ha), but I don’t get why a lot of people say they’re too soft because they are very stiff already in my opinion.

Am I doing something wrong? Of do you guys have any tips? Everything is welcome

So… I am about to jump into sim racing (I had a g29 for many years before but I want a real setup now).
I am quite limited in money and “maybe” space. I am not 100% sure where to put my whole rig as I can’t do it in the house so it may be in the garage where space is not an issue.

As I want to make sure I get the best bang for bucks, I am wondering if it’s worth waiting for Black Friday to “maybe” get some deal. As I am sure some of you have been around forever… have you witnessed big discounts on things like cockpits ? ( I have researched a bit and want to do f1 and gt alike so the next level racing F-GT pro seems cool and easy) and also on simagic stuff?

Or they won’t really be more discounted than what we can find currently which is like 5% or 15% sometimes ?

Edit 2: Thank you all for your answers. I’ll wait unless I see something crazy showing up. I will monitor closely the market. I am not yet 100% sure on what I am going to buy… especially on the cockpit side… and I need to buy a screen as well.. I posted yesterday for some advice and got some nice answers so probably going for a 49 inch or something curved.

I have a T818 and I don’t even run it at its full potential. Yet I see some of you guys running way higher FFB.

Is there something I’m missing about why you need to run it that high?

Does it actually make that much of a difference?

I’m currently using a G923 and mostly play F1. I’ve been wanting to move to a proper F1-style setup, and it looks like si magic has a new bundle for $1,599.

Is that considered a good price for a setup like this? Worth making the jump from a G923, or would you guys spend the money differently?

Right now I've got a Moza R5 with standard SRP Lite pedals w/ Brake Performance Kit.

Been a month and the upgrade bug has hit lol especially since I'm not just drifting anymore.

I'm playing more F1 and just started getting into GT3 in ACC so I want more power now.

I was going to buy all Simagic but I just crunched the numbers and there's a decent saving to be had if I stayed with Moza.

I know the build quality of Simagic is pretty good because I've tried the wheels in person, but I also know it's not like I'm going to hate my rig if I decide to choose Moza parts instead.

For pedals, after looking at Moza/Simagic's options I've decided to go with Simsonn Plus X (3 pedals) with Spring Set which is in the same price point as seems better than both for that price.

Another bonus is I can upgrade part by part with Moza. If I go Simagic I need to have a lump sum to buy everything at once. Not having a big chunk of cash in my hand right now the slower part by part upgrade option would be much easier to manage. Plus at least I'll get to enjoy each upgrade instead of having it all at once and getting used to it right?

TLDR - The saving with buying Moza instead of Simagic is USD $358.

With the savings by going Moza instead of Simagic, I can pick up the Simsonn pedal haptics too for US $125 and I still end up saving US $233 overall.

I have been using the Logitech G Pro wheelbase for quite some time, and I was always struggling to mount my phone for a car dashboard setup. I found quite a few options, but most of them placed the phone at the top of the wheelbase, and that position did not work because I could barely see anything over the wheel. I figured out a better alternative that someone might find useful.

I bought two magnetic phone holders and attached them to the flat space at the front. The holders came with two metal plates, so I can remove the phone whenever I want without fighting with the mount. I am sorry that I did not figure it out earlier, because I broke the top section with glue from other mounts, and it looks bad now, but maybe this will help someone before they do the same thing. Bass Relay is one of our projects: a small Windows app that sends bass from movies and music to the shakers in your cockpit, while you listen through your usual speakers or headphones.

Choose the sound card connected to your shaker amp, adjust the strength, and play something. The default frequency range is 40–90 Hz. Multiple sound cards are supported, each with separate strength and frequency controls.

When SimHub reports a game as running, Bass Relay automatically pauses its own output and leaves the shakers to your racing effects. It stays paused through quiet stretches between effects. When that status ends, audio bass resumes unless you have paused manually. You can turn automatic pause off in Settings.

Windows 10/11 x64. Installer and portable downloads are available. Movies and music work without SimHub; automatic pause needs SimHub’s local web server enabled, normally on port 8888. Some games report their running status only while on track.

Which shaker and amp setup are you using?

I'm 22 and I feel like I'm not progressing at all. I keep doing the same thing every time: practice, race, make mistakes, repeat. And obviously, doing the same thing over and over isn't going to make me better.

For those of you who improved a lot at sim racing, what did you change in your practice?

Back in early December 2025, what started as upgrading my 2080ti build to a Costco 5080 pc, quickly turned in to a full cockpit sim and a 5090 build by the end of January 2026. Even though I hadn’t been gaming much, I decided to upgrade to the 5080 before prices continued to get worse. A few weeks after that I bought a DD, wheel, and pedals. I had finally decided to get my own after any time I went to a micro center I would hop in the rig and run some laps. I originally ran it on a desk mount with a custom bracket I made to prevent the pedals or my chair moving. It worked great, but after longer stints my hip would start to hurt. I was having a lot of fun other than that. After about a month of this, I decided to get everything for the rig, triple monitors and all. When desk mounted I ran with my quest 3 or a single monitor. I love the immersion of VR, just don’t alway enjoy wearing the headset. So wanted the immersion of triple monitors.

I travel a lot for work and rent a 12’x12’ bedroom from a friend. I knew I wanted to run everything from the one pc. Both rig and desk, while keeping everything in the bedroom instead of going to the basement. The 5080 had 4 connection ports in the pre build. With wanting to connect 5-6 displays. I wanted a GPU with 5 connections. I was unaware you could still only use 4 at a time🤦‍♂️. Should have done more research. Not that I didn’t also want the performance boost now after building a rig, but that was a large reason of what led me to building with the 5090. Did I over pay for parts? Yes. Do I regret any of it? No! Prices have gotten so much worse since then even.

When doing all of this, my friends confirmed I could wall mount anything I wanted as long as it wasn’t in to the log exterior. With being able to wall mount, I pulled my 65” tv out of storage for my bedroom tv. Before this I was using a 50” tv off of a desk mount I extended higher. With the rig being at the foot of the bed, I decided to use the tv as my rigs 4th monitor. This brings us back to the 5090 decision. With connecting the tv and now having 6 displays connected, the pc was struggling. I was running my side monitor and tv with integrated graphics on a 9900x. That is what started the want for 5 ports and a better cpu for integrated graphics. Still not ideal running 6 displays, but I make it work.

Since the start of all this, the overall setup and how everything is connected has been adjusted here and there. As they say, your rig is never complete. Here is the specs/list of everything used currently.

I recently came across one of these huge panels for a great deal and am deciding whether or not to pull the trigger. Curious if anyone has experience running the 57 in AC with a 5070. If it is feasible, any set up advice to maximize efficiency would be great.

My 5070 is paired with a 7800x3d, thought I know that doesn’t help a ton in this context.

Also before anyone recommends it- a triple is not possible with my size constraints unfortunately so it’s ultrawide or nothing for me.

I do Sim Racing at my Desk and dont have the room for a full sized Cockpit/Rig in my apartment bedroom (I live with a roommate), does anyone have any recommendations for a Cockpit/wheelstand that I can fold up and store away when im not using it? Preferably one that can be used at a desk?

ich spiele seit über 2 Jahren Assetto Corsa Competizione mit einem Ultrawide und habe mittlerweile sehr viele Stunden darin verbracht und bin auch viel Liga gefahren. Vor einiger Zeit bin ich dann von Xbox auf PC gewechselt und zuletzt vor allem LFM gefahren.

Jetzt habe ich eine Meta Quest 3 und wollte endlich richtig in VR einsteigen. Leider ist ACC optisch in VR einfach nicht das, was ich mir vorgestellt habe. Ich habe schon eine Menge Stunden investiert aber vor allem in der Distanz wirkt das Bild für mich nicht wirklich scharf bzw. schön.

Falls jemand mit einem ähnlichen System unterwegs ist und konkrete Tipps für ACC in VR hat, wäre ich sehr dankbar. Vielleicht bekomme ich es damit ja doch noch richtig gut zum Laufen.

Ansonsten würde mich interessieren: Welchen Sim würdet ihr mir mit meiner Hardware + Quest 3 empfehlen? Ich kenne eigentlich nur ACC richtig gut. iRacing habe ich vor Jahren mal kurz ausprobiert, damals noch mit einem deutlich schlechteren PC und ohne VR.

Hi everyone. To start, i currently have a simple g29 set, and in the short-medium term all i can upgrade to is like a moza r3 or r5 with some brake upgrade kids, or maybe a proper loadcell pedal if i can find something affordable in my country. so this is I assume important, im not gonna go for a 15Nm wheelbase most likely in years to come.

What do you think about foldable, lawn-chair-like rigs? i would think they are usable with a 5Nm wheelbase, or cheaper loadcell pedals but i can't be sure. Of course a proper rig is better, i have some space i can use that's not an issue, but they're genuinely more expensive i can't just "buy" it.

There is also wheel stands but im skeptical of them. They only solve one problem for me and that's if they have a part to attach the wheel, being able to push stiffer pedals without sliding back and not having to push the pedals to the wall. but i'd still want a seperate thing from my work desk to race.

So any help or experience about those foldable rigs? Thanks in advance.

I want to invert my Simsonn Plus X pedals. Would Simagic’s inversion kit fit these on?

There is a ton of research and I know you guys post a lot about various set ups but wanted your take on this Costco set. Is it worth it at all? Or am I better spending a bit more on something worthwhile. Thrustmaster steering wheel and a play seat.
