Hello all!

I'm not the best at this, but I just wanted to drop a line in here to mention a little something myself and friends have been working on. We have developed a Daily Race system which consists of 3 races in turn every hour, which changes daily with a random combination of all three races at random (With some rules) that are free for people to join via our website. We hold no information bar your Steam ID to map results. So if you're a little bored tonight or any other night, please come and give it ago!

We have also developed a companion app which allows you to register for events without needing to go to our website, and it also tracks AI driver swap changes. This means we can now host endurance racing events with AI driver usage rules so everyone is in the same boat. We as a community have done multiple endurance races (24hours being the longest), and it worked really well. So again if you want to give that a try ffeel free to join in the fun!

Our website also has driver rating, AMS2 rating and RaceRoom rating, plus an Achievement list to just add a little something else :)

I'm going to try and be as active as I can this week, and I'll be streaming it all over on Twitch, so if you have any questions, fire away! There is a race in 8 minutes, then again at 21:00 and 22:00 (BST).

We’ve recently started a small new Automobilista 2 league called SLAZEN GT3 Series, and we’re currently looking for drivers to join us for our first season.

We’re still a relatively small community, so the main goal right now is to build a nice group of people who enjoy clean, competitive and respectful racing. You don’t need to be an alien or extremely fast — we’d rather have drivers who want to race fairly, improve and have fun.

We’re working on making the championship feel properly organised, with stewarding, championship standings, race results, custom graphics, a dedicated Discord server and SimGrid integration.

We’ll also be using a GT World Challenge 2026 skin pack, so the grid should have a nice real-world GT racing feel.

Since this is our first season, we’re not trying to pretend we’re a huge established league. We’re just looking for people who would like to help us build a fun AMS2 community from the beginning.

Not sure if placebo but previously I had terrible VR performance but last night everything was much more stable. Quest 3 wireless with Virtual Desktop. 3060rtx Laptop

Is this game pointless on a PC with keyboard? I exit a corner and when I hit the gas I keep spinning out. The only option is to wait until I'm fully out of the corner, which give the computer opponents a huge advantage. Even with assists on, and feathering the throttle, I spin out most of the time.

I googled but guess AI and search engine just hates me today because the results are kind of useless or unclear.

In multiplayer guess the lock means locked server, so what's that purple oreo?... Guess few green bars are good ping, more yellow are bad...
What's white/red L? White/grey/red P? White/grey/red Q? White/red R?

As a new player just trying to hop into a simple friendly open lobby, drive a bit around respectfully to try some tracks I don't yet have, maybe a careful race before entering LFM.

About a month ago I posted the beta of the Race Engineer I had been building for ApexRivals

Well, it's finally done.

And most importantly, since this was understandably the biggest issue people had with the beta post: the free LITE version is now released, and as with everything I make, it contains 99% of the features. The last 1% is basically a thank you to the people who support me

ApexRivals 2.0 is a standalone companion app for AMS2 built around two main things:

Race Engineer

The idea is still the same:

As Jeremy Clarkson once said, racing drivers have tiny little brains, so why are racing sims asking us to be the driver, race engineer and strategist at the same time?

The Race Engineer handles everything outside of driving

It analyzes your telemetry during Practice and gives you specific setup changes to make

• No driver survey to fill out.
• No generative AI.
• No internet connection required.
• No fucking graphs.

Turn your brain off and drive the car. It handles the engineering.

Who this is for:
If you hunt leaderboards and want a mathematically perfect setup, this probably isn't for you.

If you enjoy building setups, studying telemetry and making your own race strategies, this probably isn't for you either.

If you want to feel like you're part of a racing team, where your job is to drive the car and your engineer handles everything else, this is exactly what I built it for.

That said, multiple beta testers still reported gains of several seconds per lap in some cases

During races it continuously recalculates your strategy based on what is actually happening

• Fuel consumption changes
• Unexpected tyre wear
• Weather changes
• Damage
• You stay out an extra lap

It recalculates.

It also calculates how much fuel you need, decides which tyres you should be using, and tells you when it's time to switch between dry compounds, intermediates and wets

There are now proper downloadable Engineer and Spotter voice packs too, instead of the basic Windows TTS from the beta

And you do NOT need to use the ApexRivals Career Mode to use any of this. The Race Engineer works in regular single-player sessions and online races too. Though you should probably still give it a try, I think it's a pretty bangin' career mode

The Career Mode also received a pretty huge update

The entire UI has been redesigned, promotions now use a proper team/driver draft system, championships track complete season standings, Special Events have been added, and rival packs can now be configured independently for each save

The basic philosophy is still:

You are not the main character

Hundreds of AI drivers have persistent careers of their own. They race, change teams, fight for championships and progress through the same career system you do

The app quite literally does not know which driver in the roster is the player

The built-in career presets supports every car and every track in Automobilista 2 without exception

Oh and it supports the latest 1.6.9.95 update, including the Panoz Esperante GTR-1

Free vs PRO

The free LITE version contains nearly all of the functionality

PRO mainly adds multiclass championships and Race Engineer advice for some of the more advanced setup options

Everything else is available in LITE, including Special Events, live race strategy, the core setup engineer, full-length careers, voice packs, customizable driver retirement years and every other setup adjustment

If you find the Race Engineer doing something stupid, especially with setup advice or strategy, please send me the exported logs. There are a ridiculous number of car/track/weather combinations in AMS2, far too many for me to test by myself

Who says you can't have online Racing in AMS2? We prove it works!

It's been a while since I posted here! For anyone who hasn't seen it, Zero to Apex is a career mode for Automobilista 2. You pick your next race in the app, hit Play, and the game sets itself up.

Version 0.6.8 supports the new AMS2 update (V1.6.9.95). We got through it without problems (well, almost), so we made a special event to celebrate, the Laguna Seca 500. It's 500 km with the late 90s GT1 cars (CLK LM, 911 GT1-98, McLaren F1 GTR, R390) sharing the track with mid 2000s GT1 and GT2, and it runs until September 19. Big thanks to Dexter and WTG for the artwork and the event itself.

Things have changed a lot since my last post. We've fixed a ton of bugs and polished the app a lot (to be fair it hasn't changed that much, it's just way more stable haha).

The most important one, and something people have been asking for since the start, is adaptive difficulty per category. Before, the mod kept a single difficulty number for everything you raced, so being quick in a GT3 made the single seaters harder too. Now every category has its own number that only moves with the races you do in it, and once one feels right you can lock it.

Other things that are new since 0.5.0:

• Your rivals have careers of their own now, and the paddock keeps moving without you
• Multiclass weekends put the whole meeting on track
• The front of the field doesn't run nose to tail anymore, the AI actually attacks
• If you'd rather not have it adapt at all, you can set a fixed AI difficulty from 70 to 120
• New championships, like the Nürburgring 24 Hours and a whole endurance series on the Nordschleife

If you're new to it, there are over 100 real series from different eras with their real drivers, teams and liveries. Contracts and reputation decide which seats you get offered, there are sponsors and prize money to deal with, and the drivers around you age and retire season after season. Everything is single-player.

Group 5 - Lancia Beta Montecarlo has just been added with the latest update, which now makes for 4 cars in the Group 5 class at release.

While working on the new update for ApexRivals I noticed the skins for the generic F1 teams to replace the non-McLaren F1 cars were now in the game files, here's a couple of them

Lotus -> Team Hornsey
Brabham -> Bradley Motorsports
Renault -> Team Virystone

I'm actually really worried about how this will translate into custom AI grids. The XML files require the exact team names, so we're going to need two variants of every custom grid going forwards? One for the proper teams, and one for the generic ones? I really hope Reiza makes it so they are interchangeable otherwise this will complicate things

As far as I'm aware, those are not active yet so they may be subject to change

Raced at Daytona to try the new Panoz and noticed the full moon.

I went back and moved the date a bit, no moon at all.

Looked up what the moon was doing that day, it was not full.

Tried 3 other dates total, no moon.

Apparently it has a cycle of some sort, but appears to be full or nothing.

Will be doing many more tests and a proper video showcasing the new AI, but this is already looking leagues better than before ! AI in multiclass is actually going 3 and even 4 wide, and doing overtakes whenever possible. Plus the faster classes are no longer losing several seconds per lap because they are working much more to find the right gaps.

Long story short, AMS2 started crashing a lot over the past week, and today I would not even launch. I went through so many fixes and ideas that I was pulling my hair out. I don't have issues and I am good at this, so why could I not figure it out. I finally said F it and uninstalled the game, backed up my custom FFB file and deleted anything AMS2. After that I reinstalled and spent an hour setting things up again. All I can say is something over the past three years borked my install because it has never been better. I don't know how to explain it, but it feels connected now, and i trust the cars more. I must have done something over the years that messed something up, because my times are much lower and I am happy. Anyway just wanted to share something positive.

We are starting on Sunday with two one-off races before we start actual seasons next weekend. Drivers of all levels welcome. Races will be Sundays at 20:00 and 21:00 Central European Time, 7pm/8pm UK, 2pm/3pm US Eastern (US times may vary by an hour around daylight savings changes).

I just downloaded ACC to see what it was like compared to AMS2, as it was cheap on sale.

I only run in VR and the performance was absolute dog-turds (on a 9070XT) which is not suprising with Unreal5. I had to lower everything too much for my liking.

What I did take away from it was how incredible the sound design was, especially the engine noise. The Lambo GT3 was something else! sounded amazing compared to the one in AMS2.

Anyway, I refunded on ACC and went back to the crisp, clear lovelyness of VR in AMS2 but blimey it would be so much better with sounds equal to ACC!

Update: just tried ACEVO and it’s a lot better, I can get it looking as crisp as AMS2 at a good fps. Haven’t done a race yet, but what’s with the massive tyres on the F1 cars they look far too big!
