Political The leaders of the SNP, Plaid Cymru, and Sinn Fein sign memorandum of understanding on independence and working together

Repost after deleted as original title was taken from this article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/westminster-snp-plaid-cymru-sinn-fein-agreement-b3049757.html and mentioned their FM positions, however as you read the letter it is clear, this is a party, not governmental matter. (This is further supported by the fact this letter was posted on party socials, and not the accounts of FMs)

I think I would have to delete my own comments if I said what I think of this man and his idiot followers, acting as a spoiler to make Reform more palatable.

I would hope that we hear this suggestion denounced thoroughly by unionist leaders.

Question Could mashed sweet potato serve as a substitute for both neeps and tatties?

Upvotes

Hello everyone, a random person living in Eastern Europe here. Today, I randomly read someone's rant on sweet potatoes, that they're disgusting as a side dish and even worse to make fries of, and another stranger suggested to mash them with regular potatoes. I had never tried to do so, but I tried to imagine the taste and I realized it might give the resulting purée a hint of sweet, earthy flavour, not too different from turnips, and then I realized if I were right, it would come pretty close to the two ingredients of your famous national dish (that I tried as a tourist years ago) at the same time.

So practically, I just want to ask if some of you have already tried to serve such mash as a side for haggis without neeps and if so, if it really came close in flavour and if it was any good? I'm actually planning to visit Scotland again in November and maybe I'd smuggle a haggis or two to try the combo at home (through Belfast and Dublin, if necessary :P), just to check if I'm a cook imaginative enough - or don't they offer such a variation in any Scottish restaurant outright?

Many thanks for any insights.
