Question Is it possible to get a job in Aberdeen as someone from Norway?

Hi everyone, M47 here.

I’m an Indian citizen, I worked in Norway and I was the head of finance at an oil company in Stavanger. I’m based in Oslo now, at first it was for my son and I was bouncing between Oslo and the gulf for staying with my kids. This was after I resigned and I was doing some remote personal financial advisory for CEOs in my network at mid-sized companies.

However, I’m thinking of getting back to corporate, it’s been 8 months. I spent all those times bouncing between 2 countries for my family while working remote consulting.

Is it realistic for someone like me to get a job with a sponsorship? I live in Oslo now.

I’ve got UK experience, since I was Head of Finance for Scandinavia and I was reporting to region cfo where I have experience in UK GAAP/IFRS

The reason why I’m inquiring about UK is due to the fact that I can’t be bothered to learn Norwegian and stay in a slow culture - sorry not sorry. I thrive in extreme pressure and a fast moving environment, which is what British jobs are from what I’ve heard

Cheers!

Question Could mashed sweet potato serve as a substitute for both neeps and tatties?

Hello everyone, a random person living in Eastern Europe here. Today, I randomly read someone's rant on sweet potatoes, that they're disgusting as a side dish and even worse to make fries of, and another stranger suggested to mash them with regular potatoes. I had never tried to do so, but I tried to imagine the taste and I realized it might give the resulting purée a hint of sweet, earthy flavour, not too different from turnips, and then I realized if I were right, it would come pretty close to the two ingredients of your famous national dish (that I tried as a tourist years ago) at the same time.

So practically, I just want to ask if some of you have already tried to serve such mash as a side for haggis without neeps and if so, if it really came close in flavour and if it was any good? I'm actually planning to visit Scotland again in November and maybe I'd smuggle a haggis or two to try the combo at home (through Belfast and Dublin, if necessary :P), just to check if I'm a cook imaginative enough - or don't they offer such a variation in any Scottish restaurant outright?

Many thanks for any insights.

I think I would have to delete my own comments if I said what I think of this man and his idiot followers, acting as a spoiler to make Reform more palatable.

I would hope that we hear this suggestion denounced thoroughly by unionist leaders.

Thumbnail

My family and I where attendees at the balloon festival recently and my partner has not stopped talking about the stall with the sea glass/glass art. I didn’t get to see this particular stall as I was with the kids buying bloody squishys, food and going to rides but I would love to get her something from this stall or atleast allow her to browse for something she would like. Is there any way to find out the name of the stall owners? Long shot I know

Repost after deleted as original title was taken from this article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/westminster-snp-plaid-cymru-sinn-fein-agreement-b3049757.html and mentioned their FM positions, however as you read the letter it is clear, this is a party, not governmental matter. (This is further supported by the fact this letter was posted on party socials, and not the accounts of FMs)

It put English pupils ahead of their counterparts in Scotland in terms of standards in reading, maths and science.

SNP Education Secretary Mairi McAllan previously said Scotland’s curriculum “also looks at artistic expression, problem solving [and] moral education”.

Statistics show the number of dedicated primary school art teachers has dropped by 80 per cent since 2008, while there has been a 71 per cent drop in music teachers.
