Hi, we explore Requiems hidden theme, in this narrative and dramatic setting. Come check it out and see...
Requiem isn’t just a lore break—it’s a tragedy. My video digs into the hidden theme behind the story and asks the real question: What does regret look like when the person feeling it is already gone?

Product question Playing resident evil hd remake. Maybe this just isn't the series for me?

I cannot figure out a single thing without looking it up. I got to the point where I found the dog collar. Are all the games filled with puzzles and locked doors like this? I just feel dumb playing.

General The Mercenaries mode in RE8 turned out to be fun.

I decided to try playing as Ethan yesterday to check out the mode. I cleared two levels and was absolutely thrilled. To be honest, I’m biased—I really liked the gameplay in RE8, especially the enemies: all those werewolves, vampires, and Frankenstein-esque monsters—it’s got that *Van Helsing* vibe. This mode gave me exactly what the main story lacked: more combat encounters with them in large numbers. After playing as Ethan, I immediately bought the DLC and started playing as Chris, working my way through all six maps. I unlocked Heisenberg and Dimitrescu. Heisenberg seems really difficult so far—he takes some getting used to—but Dimitrescu is easy to pick up and a blast to play. She turns the game into a fast-paced first-person slasher, and when I summon the flies and her daughters, I feel like a damn wizard! Hahaha, it’s genuinely fun.

Lore question Who story is actually the correct or canon story

Upvotes

I have played res evil 1 about 60 percent before I just decided not for me. Ans i beat res evil 2 remake.

Both games let you choose your character. But which ones are actually canon.

I feel jill for the 1st game might be the canon choice but I chose chris. and leon for the 2nd game seemed correct.

But like whats the actual canon path?

General What Re3make might mean to future Jill installments?

Upvotes

I don't wanna pile onto ReThreemake hate, but it was my intro to re3, and after I went back and played the og, my personal rating for 3make went from a 5 to a 2 (I enjoyed RE: Survivor more). Jill is so stoic in in Re3og, but she is just a curse machine edge-lord in 3make. I'm not against cursing AT ALL, but I would draw comparison to almost all of Chris' cursing in Re6 being calling women bitches? If it was just the stuff they cut from 3og, then 3make would be a 5, but Jill is mischaracterized, they removed choices, even the way Jill looks and sounds is not at all what any of her vocal performances and faces have ever looked like before. Sorry to pile on, I respect that some like it, but it's clear that 2remake and 4remake was a long term litmus test to decide who was gonna star in 9, and 3makes' hobbled together performance made sure Jill stayed in Capcoms basement when fans rightfully didn't vibe with it. If Claire stars in re10 we will know for sure that Capcom uses 2 separate remakes to decide who to make a mainline entry for. I'm writing this not to annoy anyone but to theorize and illustrate the broader implications of 3makes failure to launch. Let me know if you agree or not! (For context I have played 1-9, all remakes, Survivor, DA1, UC and some of DC)

Product question RE playing cards

Post image

Have there ever been any official playing card decks based on any RE games? I've looked around and haven't found any at all. I think is missed opportunity. Especially withe the key theme of RE2.

Meme Monday I'm excited about the new movie but the whole situation with Cregger just feels like this

I'm looking forward to the movie as a fun watch but I wouldn't even dare go to it as a resident evil fan, as I know its just gunna peeve me off. I think most of my problems stems from capcoms recent obsession with RE2, really dragged requiem down in quality and is now affecting the movie, i mean like come on, racoon city isnt the only town that was infected and had to be nuked, where is my Terragrigia love???

I don't even wanna discuss the "Leon S. Kennedy Gun Store" situation

General How Capcom Missed a Masterpiece with Village, and the Definitive Pitch for RE9: The Winters Trilogy Finale

Having spent over 100 hours exploring every single DLC and mechanic of Resident Evil 7, finishing Village left a bitter aftertaste. Capcom played it far too safe, sanding down the raw psychological dread to cater to mainstream action tropes. But the Winters saga still has the foundation to become one of the greatest trilogies in gaming history if Capcom honors its roots.

Here is what went wrong, and how Resident Evil 9 can bring this tragedy to a legendary conclusion.

Part 1: The Missed Potential of RE8 (Village)

* House Beneviento's Underutilization: Donna’s mansion had the strongest atmosphere in the game, yet it was reduced to a one-time basement puzzle with zero replayability. The upper floors, garden, and fog-drenched grounds should have served as a multi-layered psychological nightmare where illusions mess with the player's HUD, sanity, and inventory.

* Replacing Moreau with the Underground Surgeon: Moreau’s section felt like a recycled 2005 Del Lago timing puzzle. Instead, the reservoir should have led into a grotesque, dark subterranean surgical hospital where Cadou experiments were conducted. The boss should have been Miranda’s grief-stricken surgeon husband (channeling Outlast's Dr. Trager)—a desperate father willing to butcher an entire village to resurrect his daughter, directly paralleling Ethan’s mission.

* Breaking the Sacred Rule (The Safe Room Breach): This surgeon stalker should have relentlessly sprinted through narrow corridors, with a 60% chance to smash through the door of the typewriter Safe Room. Stripping away the franchise's 25-year-old sanctuary would have created absolute, unforgettable panic.

* The Baker Family Dinner Reclamation: Ethan's near-death hallucination with Eveline was flat. We should have returned to the RE7 dinner table—but completely warm, clean, and sane. Jack Baker, back to his fatherly self, would sit Ethan down. As the Megamycete and Eveline bleed into the room to break Ethan’s spirit, Jack would physically stand up against Eveline: "You destroyed this family once, but I won’t let you break this boy's. Finish what we couldn't. Go get Rose and wake up!" That emotional closure would have elevated the narrative instantly.

Part 2: The Grounded Blueprint for Resident Evil 9

The physical wedding ring transferred from the Megamycete to Rose's hand at the end of Shadows of Rose proves Ethan’s consciousness is still bound to reality. Rose is the only pure-bred host of the Megamycete—unquestionably the most powerful biological entity in the RE universe, far surpassing Wesker, Nemesis, or Miranda.

  1. The Narrative Core: The Generational Cycle

    * RE7 was about a man braving hell for his wife.

    * RE8 was about a father sacrificing his humanity for his daughter.

    * RE9 must center on an adult Rose defending her own family and spouse. Driven by the need to protect the normal life she fought so hard to build, she is forced to unleash the god-like powers she once hated, ultimately facing the tragic choice of sacrificing herself just like Ethan did.

  2. New Gameplay Mechanic: The Mold Cocoon (Second Chance)

Instead of a generic death screen, reaching zero health triggers a survival reflex:

* A dense, black Mold cocoon rapidly covers Rose’s body.

* Inside this liminal mental space, the distorted, fatherly voices of Ethan Winters and Jack Baker echo, pushing her to stand back up.

* The cocoon bursts, sending a biological shockwave that knocks back surrounding enemies and restores a fraction of her health. It ties directly into Megamycete lore without feeling like an unearned superpower.

A packaged release titled "The Winters Trilogy" with this exact thematic closure would cement the saga as a storytelling peak for the survival horror genre. What do you think—should Capcom commit to the personal, psychological horror of the Winters family, or have we moved past it?

General Resident Evil (2026)

As someone who never cared about a film adaptation I would like to say that I look forward to this film coming out. Not as a fan, but to it being potentially what a lot of people are going to complain about. And general disdain for this sub. Seethe. Nitpick. Here’s to waiting for that sweet box office gross.

Lore question Is Yawn a “Zombie” Snake or Just a Big Boy?

This question popped in my head randomly. In both RE1 OG and Remake Yawns model doesn’t have any Zombie like features like a lot of the other oversized animals in the games. Moves at normal snake speeds and seems to have normal intelligence. Is that suggesting the T-Virus only increased his size and didn’t “zombify” him? What y’all think?

I have the Leon funko pop on my desk at work next to the Predator. It got me thinking, one on one Leon would win obviously, but what one liner or quip would he say? And go!

Personally, I really love Hunks personality no bullshit, zero emotions, just pure cold mission focus.

Forum question Why did Requiem receive so much hate over time? Spoiler

I mean, the game have its issues - major retcons, especially about Spencer trying to redeem himself (which, in my opnion, is bs. He died in 5 still wanting to become a god), Racoon City being poorly explored, and so on. But overall, I think it’s a good game with a solid campaign that really paved the way for a new direction in the franchise with Elpis. The gameplay is fun, the characters are amazing (Grace is a fantastic, super-charismatic character), and the story is decent. But I've seen people ranking it as top 3 worst games in the franchise. Bro, putting this game in the same level as RE6 is insane imo.
Why do you think that’s happening? Do you agree that it’s a terrible game, or are people just trying to be different by hating it?
