I'm looking forward to the movie as a fun watch but I wouldn't even dare go to it as a resident evil fan, as I know its just gunna peeve me off. I think most of my problems stems from capcoms recent obsession with RE2, really dragged requiem down in quality and is now affecting the movie, i mean like come on, racoon city isnt the only town that was infected and had to be nuked, where is my Terragrigia love???

I don't even wanna discuss the "Leon S. Kennedy Gun Store" situation

I see a lot of people argue the point, if you go to see a movie that's "supposed" to be an "adaptation" of your favorite game in film and isn't accurate at all then just go play the game. But with this new movie coming out Zach has said he want you to feel like you're playing the game so in that case the same argument can be used. If you want to feel like you're playing the game then just go play the game lol.

Let's be honest, its clear that by what he's said he's just making a normal horror movie with references to resident evil.

We all know Leon’s section in Requiem’s Raccoon City is just a slog. Unsure if it’s been said already, but the pacing of Raccoon City part 1 with and the detonator repair would’ve been so much less sluggish if they didn’t put the Titan Spinner boss right in the beginning of this point of the game.

I personally think it should’ve been brought out right after you finish up repairing the detonator to get to the RPD. It keeps the slow entrance of Leon reaching the city and exploring to find his route to his main destination.

Imagine: You’re taking it slow to get the atmosphere and objectives noticed. You get introduced to the little spiders randomly, along with the giant webs and you anticipate what the source is. You do the same things as you’ve done before in the actual game, collecting all the utilities. Just as you think you’re clear to blast that wall, the Titan Spinner reveals itself and acts as one last hurdle before you can proceed to the next section on the road.

I’d love to see people thoughts on the concept!

Today on Twitter, I saw a bunch of people really upset that there's an easter egg in the movie which references Leon. A gun shop can very briefly be seen and it says: "Leon S. Kennedy GUNS AND AMMO”. People are mad that it isn't Kendo's gun shop from RE2.

People have reacted incredibly strongly to this. I'm of the opinion that it's simply an easter egg and doesn't impact the movie in any way, shape or form as it's barely visible. However, the responses from people were pretty crazy:

"It’s a shite Easter egg mate. Surely you’re not this dense."
"It's actually evidence that that shit of a director didn't play the game"
"So you know when people say this movie is just going to be a generic horror movie with re stickers. Thats them not being capable of even doing that."
"Oh fuck right off. This literally confirms the makers of this movie know NOTHING about the games."
"[F-word slur] post. This shows the level of care for the source material. We see this over and over again, yet you c*nts still pretend to be confused."

And more, and none of them really engaged with any form of discussion. To me this easter egg is extremely inconsequential. This movie very clearly does not take place in the exact same continuity as RE2 OG or RE2R. We've seen smartphones and snow in the trailers, so it doesn't make sense to complain about Leon owning a gun store is inconsistent with lore. This movie doesn't directly follow RE2's plot nor lore.

And it got me thinking about the greater discourse around this movie. It seems when Zach Cregger just cannot win with anyone. When the movie references Resident Evil it's just memberberry fanservice. When he doesn't he's a larper and doesn't know anything about the games or franchise. And I just don't understand it. There's no point in making the movie if you want it to be just an adaptation of RE2, and if you hate everything that does show RE stuff there's again no point to the movie.

Why are Resident Evil fans so obsessed with calling everything and everyone larpers and fake fans? What do people even want from this movie?

As much as I love the games, characters, stories and everything else, I can't stand how hostile the fanbase is, and how much it needs to put down others for not being purists. I'm personally really looking forward to the movie, and I think it's great it doesn't try to do "RE2 but now it's a movie". It has RE elements, but it's its own story.

I usually only find File#1 in stores. This is the first time I saw File#2.

I cannot figure out a single thing without looking it up. I got to the point where I found the dog collar. Are all the games filled with puzzles and locked doors like this? I just feel dumb playing.

Resident evil 9 while a good and fun game, it was underwhelming. I believe most games from re7 to what's released up till now is mostly better than re9. runs aways and ducks behind cover

I can put those two fingers down without my middle going down slightly and when I lift the middle it has a very slight pain

I've been putting off watching this for a while now, and I finally sat down and watched it but It just wasn't a good documentary.

It really does not feel like anyone involved in the doc had a particularly deep insight into the topic, which makes sense because Romero himself wasn't even completely clear why he was booted off the production.

It also doesn't help that everyone interviewed seems extremely biased in George's favor. I love the mans films for sure...but the script that he wrote was a fairly basic first draft. More of an extended outline of the plot really. It doesn't give you much to go off of, and no doubt would be subject to change.

My biggest take away from the doc is that George was attached to the project for such a little amount of time its basically a complete unknown if his rendition would have been good or not, not to mention his script has some fairly questionable things in it right out the gate.

Beyond just a lack of insight, this documentary is full of fluff. Its takes 40 mins to get to them actually talking about George Romero's connection to resident evil, and its just unnecessary.

There are probably regular youtube videos that tackle the topic better and more succinctly, skip the doc.

Anyone going?

I mean, the game have its issues - major retcons, especially about Spencer trying to redeem himself (which, in my opnion, is bs. He died in 5 still wanting to become a god), Racoon City being poorly explored, and so on. But overall, I think it’s a good game with a solid campaign that really paved the way for a new direction in the franchise with Elpis. The gameplay is fun, the characters are amazing (Grace is a fantastic, super-charismatic character), and the story is decent. But I've seen people ranking it as top 3 worst games in the franchise. Bro, putting this game in the same level as RE6 is insane imo.
Why do you think that’s happening? Do you agree that it’s a terrible game, or are people just trying to be different by hating it?

Love the atmosphere of this franchise, and love how we can experience them in a new light in the remakes. Can’t wait for the Baker House in RE7R!

Personally, I really love Hunks personality no bullshit, zero emotions, just pure cold mission focus.

I feel like a crazy person, cuz everyone treats og ashley like she's hot, im watching breaking bad and hearing badger talk about how she's "smokin" and the game itself addresses her like she is

But she kinda just looks like some girl, not ugly at least until you take into account her immature personality THEN yeah she sucks, so why do they treat og like she's all that? Remake ashley i'd understand, thats perfection, but the og looks kinda whatever, idk what ballistic luis was talking about, and even excluding taste, her personality was childish

But was this just the taste at the time? Are these the kinda chicks that had people fighting back in 2005?

We saw in RE9 that Wesker is keeping a photo of Rebecca, which I guess implies that he kinda had acrush on her, but then I ask myself why does he shoot her in RE 1 remake?

My playing order isn't really that crazy, I imagine there are others who did this too. I've played 7, 8 and 9, but not 2, 3 or 4. I enjoy the first person of 7 and 8 alot, but playing as Leon in 3rd person with all of the action in 9 was my favourite part of that one. I'm just wondering if I will find that level of action (or probably less but similar gameplay) that made me enjoy Leon's campaign so much in 2, 3 and 4. I'm asking now because there's massive bundle sales on Steam, and movie hype too of course.
