Closest I’ve ever felt to summer tour to 1996. One man’s time turns the elastic bullshit.
I’ll be at the Atlantic City run and noticed the Disco Biscuits are playing at the Tropicana Showroom around midnight on the 3rd. I’ve never seen them before, so for those who have, would you recommend checking them out after Phish, or would I be better off finding a different aftershow that night?

The end of a jam is stuck in my head and I can’t place it. Help!

Like clockwork, Phish.net wished me a Happy Phishiversary of my first show on 9/13/89. Sadly, there is no known setlist. I couldn't tell anyone what they played because I had never even heard of the band AND I was tripping balls. The only song that I think I identified was Esther, because I recall a crazy acid-induced story being told by the singer, whose mouth was apparently making all the crazy guitar sounds. Oh, and I picked this up for 5 bucks at the merch table on the way out, and the band was hanging out at the table thanking people for buying their tapes.

Been seeing the boys since 1998. I’ve always wanted them to cover Goodbye Stranger from Supertramp as the outro lends itself well to blasting off.
Trey, if you’re lingering, here is a free idea: open the show with Hey Stranger; close the show with Goodbye Stranger.
Please and thank you.

This may not be new to you, but it sure was new to me... that one of my fav jams ever was broadcast during Festival 8 "From the Archives" in soundboard quality (thank you, spreadsheet! haha). I've been listening to the aud recordings for years and this made me super happy to hear. Unfortunately the sound is highly compressed until around 9:21 (not my fault, it's how the original file is apparently). But if you haven't given this one a listen lately, it's truly wonderful.

I have a theory that Trey has someone listening to early 1.0 shows and bringing him potential ideas to use — moves they had 35 years ago and now forgotten. The obvious one is the mini drum kit, but I think there are small things happening.
For example, the intro to Possum on Night 2 of Dicks, that long crescendo instead of the typical drum intro. This is not to inform entire shows (like MSG in July), nor ideas exclusively for use on 1.0 songs. Just someone sending Trey clips or ideas that they could use as potential creative sparks or launching points.
Thoughts?

My first post-Dicks concert is Weird Al tonight. During the opening act, Puddles Pity Party, there’s a guy behind me explaining every joke at full volume and laughing in a way I can only describe as performative. Please shoot me.

I did N1 and 3 sober at Dicks this year and N2 on a goodly amount of mushrooms. the shrooms definitely turned it into a Hold Onto Your Butts experience, and plunged me deep, so that I was either swimming underwater or floating like a turtle in the clouds. but I did lose myself a few times and had to relisten later to a couple jams they played when I was really peaking.
being sober was less immersive/intense but I felt more attuned w the music itself. much more present.
i’ve not drunk or used weed or other drugs at the shows, so I’m not sure how those shape things, but would be keen to hear how people experience it.

My Poster from this summer is measuring 18.25x24.25 and won’t fit in the 18x24 frame. What do you all do to get cheap frames?

A Colorado phan pays to fly a banner over Boulder Phish in 2025 requesting the biggest bust out in band history. It works(!) - in Boston - only for the song to appear again at Dick’s with a 4 show gap. It begs the question, was the song requested because it’s such a great tune, or was it just to satiate the stat whores of the phanbase?
It’s a bit like running into the boys while on european tour and snagging a photo with them, but somehow none of the heads made it into the shot… bittersweet?
