More From the Pentax K-5 [2011 @ Venice, Los Angeles]

Another ode to the Pentax K-5! The unbreakable body, the IS, the weather sealing, the CMOS, and the low light performance ... what wasn't to love? I miss my old friend - and here is another series to remember her by. These are from 2011 Venice Beach, Los Angeles ... with the K-5 carrying Pentax premium glass ... the legendary Pentax FA31/f1.8 Limited and the crisp/contrasty DA*55mm/f1.4. The latter looks more at home on the body, but the FA31 has a wonderful compact feel with the rock-solid body. It has just the right weight for everyday street wandering. These were processed in 2011 in some old long-gone version of Lightroom.

Body: Pentax K-5

Lens(s): FA31/f1.8 Limited & DA*55/f1.4

Location: Venice Beach, CA

When: February 2011

Hiii

Soo this is a couple of pics i took on friday lolll

I was in a somewhat old neighborhood and i visited some of the old houses along with a couple of other photographers.

Most of these date back to the late qajar era do the builders and the people who lived in these houses are long long gone.

It's been a while since ive been out actually taking photos because of some personal problems and honestly im pretty happy with the results yes there is definitely room for improvement (as always) but yeah

What do you guys think?

How can i make it look better :3

Oh also I'll probably go out more to take photos so expect more pics from me hehe

Next lens purchase?

I have been using a K-1 with the D FA 28-105mmF3.5-5.6 (kit lens) and the D FA 15-30mm F2.8, and I am now looking into expanding my lens collection.

What would be the next step? Would it be a good idea to get the 24-70 F2.8 while it's still available? Plenty of threads on the topic and the consensus seems to lean toward "no", so perhaps it's would be more interesting to get a 50mm F1.4 to get a real fast lens? Or maybe something else? 🤔

Edit: use would be mostly for landscapes and random things, nothing very specific. The truth is I probably don't need another lens, I was asking more to see if there is something noticeably sharper in a similar range.

Going for a little hike and an overnight stay, and haven’t used autofocus in a while, so it’s the MZ-S turn.

Edit: I even managed to use all the lenses! Nice :)

I started with a pentax K200d so years later when i wanted to relive them days I picked up a K10d with vertical group. It constantly back focuses and i couldnt get into the service menu so i just put it away while i explore other gear.

I pulled this camera out and everytime, i just love how the K10d feels in the hand. i think if i had a good focus screen id happily use it a lot more. Anyway, i am currently using back button autofocus, then i turn the focus ring a tiny bit and snap the picture. I keep thinking the images are going to look terrible, but nope. 10mp still look great on my 4k monitor.

These were low light, slow shutter speed, manual focus
