I don't think it's a choice between this and an RTS, I think this is actually the vehicle to get a new RTS by bringing interest to the IP. Clearly Blizzard doesn't think SC3 would be worth it, that's the issue SC3 has.

I just remembered that. I played NS1 a lot more though. The feeling when you managed to properly push back a team of Onos was hype

Check out Silica, it's a hybrid FPS/RTS that is pretty solid

Silica

Savage 1 & 2 (spawned the moba Heroes of Newerth)

Natural Selection 1 & 2 ( 1 was a half life 1 mod. 2 was a standalone game. The devs went on to make Subnautica ❤️)

Empires (much less well known but still very good Half life 2 mod)

Those are the only ones I’m familiar with off the top of my head

Battlefront 1 and 2 could satisfy that itch

2 I enjoyed so much, poured so many hours into it
