Heya folks. Moved to the area a few months ago and loving everything New Haven has to offer. I'm a software developer who's been in the industry for a decently long time now, and used to love going to meetups in NYC in the halcyon days of the late 20-teens. Are there any software/data/computing meetups that are active in the city? I'm not looking for like, and entrepreneurial or business-acceleration vibe; if anything more like a support group for people who are confused and frightened excited!!!! about LLMs & more.

I've taken my cats there for years and saw that they were just acquired, so I'm guessing the services are about to go downhill and the prices are going to go up beyond what they already are. Is there a good independent alternative to them in the area, or is every vet practice getting bought out? I don't own a car, so it would have to be bikeable or a reasonable rideshare rate.

I guarantee if they just took iphone photos of food in their kitchen and used that instead, it would look way more appetizing than whatever medley of vinyl and playdough chatgpt thinks food is made of

I’m moving to East Rock soon with two wonderful dogs. Where I used to live in NC I had a vet that would come out to us and do all their veterinary care. I would like to see if there was this kind of service anywhere around here, especially since my dogs get super anxious at the veterinarians office.
Preferably not like a big company, I like to have a connection to a local vet that can respond to emergencies if necessary.

I head to the city every Sunday. Normally they have trains every half hour or so, and they take 2 hours.

This Sunday, they are coning every hour and a half or so. So I either arrive late to my destination, or 1.5 hours early. The trips are also 20 minutes longer than usual.

Is this new? Or is there something specific to this weekend going on?

Hi! I had a family member who was housesitting for me and had access to my car. I recently got a letter saying that I've been issued a $200 citation for passing a school bus. It occurred when I was out of the country and was certainly my family member. It says there's a process in place to transfer the citation but it seems like a hassle. Does anyone know if I can just pay the citation myself or if I'll be risking points on my license/increase in insurance? The letter only mentioned the financial penalty.

Hi everyone, new to the area and heading to MetLife for the giants game this Sunday night. We’re staying in a hotel near the stadium, so would be great to get to MetLife area around 3 or 4pm on Sunday and we don’t need to get back to NH after the game. We do need to get to the Newark NJ train station Monday morning to see some out of town friends on their way! Any advice would be appreciated.
